EXCITING NEWS !!
We are excited to announce the formation of one of two 2nd Annual I Hate Dialysis get togethers.
Last year in October was our first Annual get together in Las Vegas NV. We had such an enormous response from some of the members who live on the Eastern half of the United States that we decided to host one in Chicago Illinois this year.
I need to know who will be able to make it.
Chicago IL August 2nd 2008 (Motel is in theTinley Park area.)
More Info to follow.

Count me in. This is so scary. I have not travel since I have been on PD. I hope it won't be too complicated. Plus, I have never been to Chicago. My husband has been several times on business.
-
That is the day before my birthday!! Looks like I will be celebrating in Chicago! :bandance; :bandance;
-
Count me in!!!! I'm in Indiana, only about 5 hours away!!!
How many days?? I'l go ahead and ask for time off!!
:beer1; :beer1; :beer1;
-
I will be there Friday and Saturday and probably leave sometime on Sunday depending on how many we have there.
-
I'll be there early and stay late!
-
:'( :'( Won't be at this one sadly... But I will be on the phone with my mother constantly so I better hear from all of you!!
-
I would love to go especially since it's soooo close but alas I wont be able to as of right now. :( Should anything change though you bet you can count me in.
-
This one I may be able to do... I don't know 100% yet though, so I will keep my fingers crossed that I can.
-
I'm working on it...would love to drive up and meet everyone!
-
It would be great to meet both of you.
-
...One day I'm coming to NY. And we must go for pizza...
(alene writing)
Alright, is this where the "which pizza is better, New York pizza or Chicago pizza" discussion :boxing; begins...
...or here, perhaps in Chicago itself in August, with Sluff carrying Amanda on the back of his bike and Meinuk and the New York pizzas in his sidecar!!! :clap;
-
I plan to go!
MMMmmmm did someone say pizza??
-
Okarol is coming! It's a party now!!
KRCincy, please come, too. We will all have such a great time.
All of you who voted for Chicago----where are you? Come on let's start planning!
-
I would like to attend, and it is possible that I will indeed be able to, but I don't know just yet. I guess I'll have to be a "definite maybe" for now.
-
:thumbup; :yahoo; xtreme--yeah, a definate maybe!!
-
I wish so much that we could go, but Len is under a no flying rule per his doctors. I hope there is a wonderful turn out and that you guys have a great time. REMEMBER to take plenty of :pics;. I'll patiently wait to hear all about it.
-
It's possible that I can get there too. I''ll do PD while I am there rather than bring the Baxter. Not sure for definate yet, it depends on the price of the flights.
-

Holy Moly !! :o I'd love for you to make it Sir Ken.
-
Okay, Marvin and I want to come...but, we need more info. Tell me about the rates for rooms. When you have a reunion like this, what other costs are involved (food obviously -- how are the meal prices up there? ... anything else?). We'll have to check into the cost of flights -- too far to drive, and a lot will depend on how much it costs and if we can save up enough between now and then.
-
Sir Ken, Oh my goodness!! I would be so excited if you were able to come to Chicago.
And Petey and Marvin, maybe with advance time to plan (and heal!) you will beable to come. But, we are still having a mini meet for NC people! When Marvin feels better, we will pick a time and place :cuddle;
-
i'm going to have to pass on this one, i would love to do both chicago and las vegas however if all goes well i'm moving in august from colorado to oregon. at least that's the current plan after the year i've had, who knows.

I can tell you that the rooms will be around $114.00 highest plus taxes. As low as $99.00 plus taxes. I have a motel already in mind but I have not sent in the contract yet because I will have to pay for up to 8 rooms if they are not used. I can't afford that but I think we will fill them. I have a block on 15 rooms. I can not give you the information yet until the contract goes through and then I will post the location. It is in Tinley Park IL. All the rooms in Chicago were high like $170.00/ night. Tinley park is 20 miles from the main Chicago Post Office.
-
Sluff, which hotel are we staying at? I've been doing some checking, and the Country Inn (just opened last year!) looked nice. Rates are a bit expensive though, but they do handle groups, which is in their favor!
Had you already picked one out? Ran, my fiancee plans to come...he's my 'chauffeur' as he calls himself!
He already has the route mapped out!
We're planning on coming up Friday and staying through til Sunday morning!
Annie
-
Talk abouit fast!!! Dang, Sluff! I swear you had NOT written that when I was asking!!!
Okay, you've got two from Indiana coming!!
-

I'm so disappointed...I was so looking forward to this, and Chicago is a short 4 hour drive for me!!! However, Jim and I are already committed to our annual canoeing weekend that same weekend (and we are the organizers of this event!!!)
Does this mean this event will always be the first weekend in August?

No it just happened to work out that way. It could be different every year, so could the location. Too bad you can't make it, I hope you don't find yourself up a creek with out a paddle.. :rofl;
-
:rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :2thumbsup; Good one Sluff!!! People have dumped and lost their paddles on this river...it's pretty fast, so if you don't tie on your paddles, cushions, and cooler you will end up down the river without a paddle...and your cushions.....and your lunch.....and your beer!!!
Hopefully I can make Vegas and other meets!!!
-
If it is at all possible, I would like to go too. I'm in Indianapolis, so it's not that far.

If anyone has any unique ideas about where we can go or what we can do while in the Chicagoland area send Paris a PM. She has graciously offered to help the
old young Sluffster out with the plans.
Thanks Paris.
-
I don't know if my husband and I will be able to make it. The cost of the hotel might be the deal breaker. We are having severe financial problems right now. Chicago is so close tho! :(
-
Jill D. Sluff picked that weekend because it is my birthday! :rofl; :rofl;

I should be able to make it. It is not far from my house, right of the interstate. I'll have to look up where the hotel is at, can't remember Spring Creek, bu I will find it. Any ideas what you want to see in Chicago? Sears Tower Observatory is about $30 (been 6 years since last visit), there is Grant Park wit the giant chrome jelly bean, Navy Pier with a big Ferris Wheel that lights up at night, of course Michigane Ave (Mag Mile, the main drag of shopping for women in Chicago..lol), Lincoln Park Zoo, the various museums, Shedd Aquarium, Plantetarium, ect. There is a commuter train that runs to Chicago and on weekends it is about $5 for ticket that last thru the weekend that allows you to have a round trip. I will have to get a train schedule when I go to Chicago in June or look online for the details.
-
Chris, I would love any info you can give us re: things to do. I am looking for an activity to plan for the group while we are all there, so would love any input you can give me. Thanks in advance. PM me anytime.

The "Cloud Gate" sculpture in Millennium Park... a huge mirrored marvel... affectionately known as "The Bean" because of it's kidney shape... it draws everyone to it so they can see themselves reflected with an incredible view of Chicago's skyline all around them.
-
This will be fun.. a real blast to meet you all..
Didn't Keefer want to steal that kidney for himself?
I have to check out these links you posted Okarol.. sounds great! :bandance;
-
For Chicago Style Pizza, there is Connies Pizza and one is located not to far from the motel. For Chicago style Hot Dogs, there is Portillos that is also close to the motel. Those two are well known in the Chicago area. Also, the Cheesecake Factory that is located in the Hancock Building. I think their observatory is cheaper than the Sears Tower, been awhile since I went tere to. Then again, your not going up as far, but you can go in an area that lets you be outside that high.
-
I checked on airline tickets for that weekend. The cheapest I could find was thru www.cheapticket.com for $212 round trip. If anyone knows of a cheaper price from RDU, let me know.
By the way, I'm really skeptical about traveling, especially by plane. I'm afraid to check my bags with all my PD solutions/supplies. Airlines have been known to loose your bags or damage them. For those that traveled by plane while on PD, what did you do? I'm doing CAPD 2x/day. I know the airport have been really strict about what you can and cannot take with you on board. I wonder if there are restriction to how much fluid you can take with you. I was told by one co-worker that you are limited. Is this true?
Anyway, my husband and I will love to go. This would be a great weekend getaway for us. I wish we could drive but that would take 10-12hrs.
-
Hmmm and I'm further south than you!..
Ok.. just checked.. from Mia to O'Hare for me is $218.00.. It is O'Hare right?
Never thought to ask till now..
If I stop in PA along the way.. thats another 218.00... :o
Hmmm.. what to do....? :banghead;
Oh wait.. that may all be sorted by then!!!! ::)

Rookie girl have some supplie delivered to the Hotel prior to your arrival or while you are there.
Mysty, Ohare would be your best bet.
Okarol thanks for the links. The outdoor music festival is free so maybe we could pool together on the cost of a bus or something.

Hi Sluff,
This might be the best option to just have Baxter deliver my solutions. I hope they pull through. If not, I will really be SOL if they don't.

I would arrive a day early incase they screw up they would still have Friday to get it there.

Just incase, Midway is the other Chicago Airport. It's smaller and diferent airlines fly in there. No idea of cost difference. I know there is a shuttle service from O'Hare that can take you to the hotel instead of renting a car. I have only taken Midway once, but believe they offer the same type of shuttle service. Not sure what current prices are either, when I used them from O'Hare to Naperville where my vehicle was parked at a hotel, it was $40 5 years ago. Given inflation, gas prices, I figure around 60 give or take.

Ahhhh It's like you read my mind.. how to get from A to B.. perfect....
What ever we do is great..it's the getting together that will be fun for me. :bandance;

Orland Park is the closest, sort of a hop skip and a jump. Those mileage listings though are a bit off, especially when it comes to Chicago.

Shuttle Services from either Midway Airpot or O'Hare
http://www.airportexpress.com/ (requires reservation to Tinely Park)
http://www.airport-chicago.com/continental-airport-express-shuttle-service.htm (But is affiliated with the above company)
I have contacted a Holiday Inn hotel I have used to get picked up or dropped off to go to O'Hare for shuttle service information to see what companies come out. After web search, I am really only finding one company and limo services and I know there is more. Just thought, I should contact the hotel Sluff listed to see if they know what companies take and drop off passengers from the airport.
-
Contacted Sleep Inn and the person I talked to doe not have a regular shuttle service that comes by the hotel. However, she gave me a number of a new company that the hotel is going to try to start using. It's called Aries 1-(888) 305-8700. But looked them up on the web ( http://www.ariescharter.com/ ) and they are buses and mini buses. So that is a big cost disadvantage. I'll post more when I find out more.
-
Hmmm and I'm further south than you!..
Ok.. just checked.. from Mia to O'Hare for me is $218.00.. It is O'Hare right?
Never thought to ask till now..
If I stop in PA along the way.. thats another 218.00... :o
Hmmm.. what to do....? :banghead;
Oh wait.. that may all be sorted by then!!!! ::)
We're flying Tampa to Chicago Midway for $230 each. It is closer to Tinley Park than O'hare and the fight is significantly cheaper.
Oh, I guess that might be taken to mean - WE'RE GOING TO CHICAGO!!!
:clap;
(Rolando has been banned from any "breakdancing" activities for at least two weeks preceding our flight. :boxing; )

Ooooh.. thats just a tad bit more but probably worth it Alene. I'll check it out from Miami.
Rolando break dancing? Oh Oh!!!..

I can't believe that the next get together is in Chicago. I live right outside of chicago. Count me in!

There will be some cars there if someone needs help getting somewhere, but a small mini bus may come in handy for those who want to venture into the City then we can do a group thing.

If I can get to either event this year I'm not sure which one to go to.
A lot of it depends on if my leg is healed and I have my leg by then.
I still might have to use a wheelchair some if there is much walking.
I checked prices here and it is cheaper to do a pkg. deal that includes flight and room.
I need to go back and see if that's into O'Hare or Midway.
I looked at the Tinley Park Sleep Inn info and it said it is 15 mins. from Midway.
I absolutely love LV. Oct. is a beautiful time to be there.
Aug. is a hot humid month. So lI will check out prices for LV also.
Wish I could go to both. Would be so great to meet everyone.
I hope I get to go to at least one meet.

Just wanted to point out that on the list of those going MissAyne is listed twice.
-
Sory abnout the wrong spelling Myss Anne.
I knew there was a Y there someplace.
-
No problem, OB!!! As long as you don't spell it A-S-S, I am fine with however it is spelled!!! IT really should read that it's Myssanne AND fiancee (Ran), so that's two of us!!!

May have found a taxi service that charges $27 from airport to hotel. I thought I sent an e-mail to them this week, but when I opened Outlook instead of opening my default e-mail program, it just sent it today. I believe they will go to Tinley Park, but making sure they do. So far the have the cheapest rate. I will post their link when I hear a responce so if someone does choose them, they can set up when to be picked up

What are people in the mood for doing in Chicago? I have gotten a travel guide of Chicago from the state of Illinois. Might as well start planning to have some idea what we are gonna do.
-
free_in_chicago.aspx I Hope this helps.
-
I sent Paris a PM, but I'll spill it here, I'm interested in food, either buying, or eating, and books, especially in independent bookstores, of which I am sure Chicago has some!
-
Yeah, maybe a farmers market? I am up for about anything, I did read that they have a free zoo, I know we have a lot of animal lovers on here. Are we all going to wear our purple boas on Saturday?? We would be sure to raise eyebrows and hopefully questions. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!

The free zoo is Lincoln Park zoo. I have been there, just don't know how to get there. The one restaurant I would have reccommended went out of business after 107 years called Berghoffs. They really had great food, but the 3rd generation owner wanted to retire. If you have ever seen the old (1970's) Saturday Night Live sketch with Bill Murray and Dan Akroid (sp?) where they yell Cheeseburger Cheeseburger, no Coke, Pepsi, that's the Billy Goat restaurant. We have the Hershey's Chocolate store on Michigan Ave, no idea about the bookstores downtown though. Gonna have to do some research to find some good restaurants in Chicago. Sure I can find some info from people at school.
-
The Hershey's Chocolate store is no big thing on Michigan Avenue. A small store, not so much in it.
-
I haven't been there yet. Planned to go during trip to docs office downtown till I was interrupted and never made it to either place that day. So all the hype on the local news and on Hershey's website and theres not much there, that's disappointing to me.
-
Chris I appreciate all the information that you are providing. :beer1;
-
I read about the purple boa.. is that ok for everyone to wear? I don't want to overstep...let me know..

After looking at all the costs involved, unfortunately it's looking more likely that I will not be able to go. I receive a whooping $700 per month disability pay, and I have bills, and I'm trying to save up to get my own apartment. I know it's still early, but maybe if everyone is going to be having a group-wide activity, maybe I can come up on the bus for just one day and meet up with everyone. Also, I don't have the NxStage aluminum travel case, so it would be pretty much impossible for me to safely take my machine on the bus. I'll still see what I can do, but again maybe I can come just long enough to meet everyone face-to-face.
Adam

Yes Adam! Please do that! Even one day would be cool! :waving;

Adam, I hope you can come on Saturday and spend the day with us. I'll keep thinking positive thoughts that you will be there. :2thumbsup;

It would be great to meet you Adam wether it's a day or an hour I would feel honored that you made the trip.

This is a boat tour leaving the Navy Pier. I am looking at activities that do not include lots of walking. Some of us don't walk very long distances. Navy Pier is a good starting point for sightseeing. I am hoping that with several of us having cars, going downtown may not be too difficult. Feedback and input is greatly appreciated! Dinner is at 4 on Saturday, so we can make plans for Saturday morning, Saturday after dinner or Sunday. Or we can hang out in Sluff's room all day :sluff;

Here is a link for "Easy Access Chicago" http://easyaccesschicago.org/
It has a downloadable version of places to go in Chicago for people with varying disabilities, whether wheelchair, blind, or deaf. The book version can be rdered, bu they are out of stock so far. However, other brochures can be ordered from the Illinois Tourism Bureau from that website that will send out a couple books for free of things to do in and around Chicago.

The key word is cars for traveling in Chicago. There is an old law from the late 1800's that has never changed that states it is illegal to drive a truck on Lake Shore Drive (Hence traveling to Nay Pier). And I have a truck with truck plates. Chicago cops are not to friendly when giving out tickets, so best I avoid it even though some people do still try to drive on Lake Shore Drive with a truck. So when I go downtown, I take the train and usually a cab to where I need to go. There is a commuter train that runs to Chicago that stops in Tinley Park. I looked it up, but forgot the cost for a ticket, was trying to find weekend fare when internet went down. It is a different commuter line that ends at a different point in Chicago than the commuter line I normally take to Chicago, so not familar with the train station.
-
My daughter and I bought a very reasonable two day transit pass that got us around Chicago quite easily on the bus system.

My daughter and I bought a very reasonable two day transit pass that got us around Chicago quite easily on the bus system.
I looked up CTA's website for the fare, for a visitors pass for 1 day is $5 and a 2 day is $9. You can buy them online or it says you can get those passes at specific locations. A couple locations were Midway Airport, O'Hare Airport, and Navy Pier, with other locations harder to find. However, when I go to my doctor in Chicago in June, they have a vending machine for them at Union Station where I take the train to and from Chicago and I can pick some up then if we have a plan to use the bus.

Thanks Chris, It is nice having our own insider! I haven't been to Chicago in a couple of years. We have relatives in Lake Forest and last time we visited we enjoyed the Navy Pier and Lincoln Park Zoo. Navy Pier worked for us because those with endless energy could walk and explore and those of us with no energy (me) could sit and enjoy the water, the bands playing,etc. The Zoo involved lots of walking although it was really nice. So we may come up with options for everyone. I was a chaperon with 26,000 teenagers in Dallas for a convention. I am crazy--I love teenagers! Anyway, I am sure this group will be easier and we can come up with great ideas for everyone. At least I won't have to do a bed check! :rofl; :rofl; Right?? Then again, I was on a band trip to Florida, and we had two chaperones having a wonderful time, but not with their own spouses!!
I think when we know times of people's arrivals and departures, we will have a better idea of how much we can plan. The trolley sounds good and also, the transit pass . Thanks everyone.
-
Thanks Kitkatz. That info is a great help.
-
Anyone that is going to Chicago can comment on what sounds interesting to you. Please comment so paris gets an idea of what you want. Thanks Chris also for all your help.
Paris, we have PMed you with a bit more info than this:
From the Chicago Tours link :
Nighttime Supernatural Cruise (we enjoy the haunted stuff) - Saturday night, 9:30-12midnight
Tommy Gun's Garage Dinner Show - Friday @7pm, Sunday @5:30pm
We also love walking tours and have very successfully done them in New Orleans and Savannah (Rolando is in a wheelchair). For those who are not comfortable with walking, perhaps an electric wheelchair or "go-cart" will help. I will see if I can find pricing/availability.
The Navy Yard pier looks like a happening place at all times. There are fireworks (free) at the pier @ 10:15pm on Saturday
We are arriving Friday night, very very late and leaving Wednesday midday. :bandance;
-
Ooooh a haunted tour!!!!!!
-
Depending on what's planned for Saturday, I can commit to Friday. With night activities in an unfamilar place, I have difficulty getting around due to my eye impairments. So for me, a well lit area is best for me, but do not want to ruin anyones plans. Needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few comes to mind. Boat tours have been fun. Maybe once we have an idea of what to do, we can make a poll to decide matter of importance to do or something to that effect.
-
Yay.. boat tour!!.. I love the oceans, lakes, rivers... water!!
-
Seems like one of the boat tours may be a good idea. And the Navy Pier. Keep posting ideas. Thanks to all for input. A and R, got the pm! Thanks for researching. It is fun to see what everyone's interest are. Looks like we can make a few good choices. You all are the best :guitar: I am singing your praises!!
-
:sir ken;
oops sorry i meant bump! lolol
-
I'm for whatever Paris comes up with and if I can't do it I won't, sometimes we breakup into smaller group so everyone does something with others.
-
Thanks Sluff. I am thinking of having options printed out so we can see what is available and then go together or go in groups. I know for some of us, it will depend on how we feel that day. The boat tour and Navy Pier are the two I am getting the most response to. We will have lots of options and I think "visiting" will be the #1 priority. As we get closer, we will have more definate plans. Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions----love you all :grouphug;
-
ok, so this may be a stupid question, but how do we go about getting a room? Do we call the hotel ourselfs and ask for a room in the reserved block or do we book it through you? Also do we have our own rooms or do we share with other IHD members? I have never done this before so I'm just wondering.
-
On page 3, Sluff has posted all the hotel info; location, prices, group name. You will contact the hotel, give them the group name and then book the room. Anyone could share rooms if they would like to--------hmmmmm, that could be very interesting! :pics; :rofl; Let Sluff know if ypu have any problems. See you in Chicago!!
-

Oh boy.. so that means we will have rooms next to each other possibly?..!
I remember going to swim meets and water polo tournaments with my daughter..
that the floor we were on.. there was never a closed door.. everyone just traveled in/out
tv's going, music going.. it was a blast.. :bandance;
The :pics; we snatched of those unaware sleeping in the oddest positions!! :rofl;
And none new it till it went on the team website..had to duck a lot of :boxing; and run from :Kit n Stik;

Although that would be interesting we will have our own rooms. If you want to share the expense of the room then post it and maybe someone who can't afford a room would be willing.
Also if someone is not going because of the cost I may be able to help. PM me if that is the only reason you are not going.
-
Oh boy.. so that means we will have rooms next to each other possibly?..!
Probably not. When we booked a block of rooms for our wedding guests, they weren't together. We were told they just block off available rooms. It's not actually a 'block' of rooms. Rarely are they all together. Especially in a big city full of tourists, with rooms constantly with occupants.
-
Some of us were together in Vegas; several on the 2nd and 14th floors. Jill D. and her husband, Jim, were next to us. Ask Jill about Jill sleeping in our room! :rofl; Sluff, Kit and Susie's rooms were close. I have a feeling we will all be bumping into each other every time we leave our rooms. :yahoo; Can't wait!
-
I do NOT want to share a room, sorry but if hubby and I get away alone we want some ALONE time--lol. But the kids might be with us, they haven't decided if they want to go or not. So Richard age 15 and CG age 14 might be there. It all depends on sports schedules. Thanks for answering my questions.
-
A reminder that No-one has booked their rooms yet, please do it soon.
-
Sluff, is there a date that the rooms must be booked by to get the group rate? Could you post that date for us? Thanks!
Also, just a reminder-----the official dinner meeting will be Saturday, August 2nd at 4 PM, Sanfratellos Restaurant in Tinley Park. We have the banquet room reserved. Family style dinner will include: pizza, spaghetti/mostaccioli, meatballs, salad, fried combo appetizor, soft drinks and dessert. $13.50 per person/ not including tips. We will need to have a good idea of how many are coming so they are prepared for us.
We will have a "schedule of events" for everyone. Some may want to do more sightseeing than others, so we are trying to make flexible plans with choices. Thanks to Chris who has been our "insider", searching for things to do. Navy Pier and a boat tour will be part of the Saturday evening plans.
OK-who's partying in Chicago?? :bandance;
-
Sadly I won't be able to party with you all as I had planned...I know a great time will be had by all!!

Oh OK, I thought that was the cancellation deadline (to be eligible for a refund) so that's also the same date that the price is guaranteed till?
Yup. Actually the 26th but I was telling everyone the 20th so there was not a rush. :secret; Keep it secret OK or no-one will book until the 26th.

Should have never told anyone the 26th---you know they will wait until then! :rofl;
-
I am craving a Chicago hot dog----poppy seed roll, Vienna beef dog, tomatoes, pickle spear, mustard. Yummy. But I like ketchup and that is a no-no on a Chicago dog. How many weeks until Chicago?
-
I had one of those yesterday, no wait I had two. he he
-
One for you and one for me :2thumbsup;
-
you got that right. ummm good.
-
Here are the beginings of brochures I have picked up. I have ruled out 1 so far due to expense, but would have been fun to go to($50 and up for dinner and show).
-
Ok, went thru the brochures I have. If anyone wants me to post info about the Glass Experience at The Museum of Science and Industry, let me know. I also have one for the Chicago Historical Museum. I can't scan the CTA bus and train schedule book I have, it's a lot of scanning and easier to look online. Last one I have that I don't think is necessary to scan is a brief brochure on the Hard Rock Cafe. So that leaves the last 3 brochures I have scaned that was available at the hotel I went to that had Chicago related stuff. I will try to stop at another hotel to try to find somthing more different than what I have posted.
-
Last two files are to large to post. I have to rescan them by using web quality function in Word.
-
Thanks Chris I like the looks of that trolley tour on the top of that bus being open, but I have been to chicago many times and it never looked the way the brochure makes it look. :rofl;
-
Thank you Chris :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup; My son was in Chicago last week on business. He used the day transit pass and said it was great. Easy to use and went everywhere. I think he said it was $5----does that sound right? He also went to the top of the Sears Tower one evening. $12.50 per person. He loved it and thought it was worth doing.
Anyone have the ball parks schedules? Any baseball being played while we are there?
Again, thanks Chris for all you help :cuddle; Hope you are doing better. We want you well and ready for August. :2thumbsup;

How far away are you and in what direction?
-
We're about 6 hours SE in Dayton, OH. We're just very broke right now.
-
I plan on being there. It's only a 5 hr. trip for me and I'll just skip Saturday dialysis.
-
I may have overlooked this post but which motel? There is a large Holiday Inn and Convention Center right in Tinley Park.

Yes there is Flip, right off I-80, but that's not where we're meeting. I haven't looked at mapquest to see how far a distance it is from each other though.

Here is the Motel information.

A Northwest Side drive-in is turning 60 this week: SUPERDAWG
You can get whoopskidogs (that's a grilled polish with grilled onions in an onion roll) but the legendary Superdawg remains iconic. It's not Vienna Beef, like most other hot dog stands, but rather, a recipe of their own; and while the mustard, neon green relish, onions, pickles and sport peppers are consistent, you won't find red tomatoes here, but rather, the pickled green variety.
"We were much more interested, sincerely, much more interested in the product and what we were serving, rather than the profits, (which) would come later," said Maurie Berman, Superdawg.
In the summertime, the parking lot is full of cars, and people inside of them, happily munching on Superdawgs, whoopsie cheesys, thick shakes and krinkle fries.

Which airport should I fly into?
-
Midway is closer to Tinely Park, but O'Hare has more service of flight companies. I have flown out of both and prefer O'Hare, but it also depends who has the cheapest fares also. Both have car rental agencies, but I know for sure O'Hare has van service to hotels

Thanks Chris, I will check both. :bow;
-
If I don't have anymore surgeries after this month, I could pick up a couple people during the day from O'Hare. Midway is possible, just have to find way there. I forgot how to get there once I am off the highway. Glad I have GPS ;D

Sluff, do you think 15 rooms will be enough?

*Takes a deep breath*
Actually, I go to school in Tinley Park. According to mapquest, the hotel is 1.19 miles (3 mins) from my school. I just turn right, left, right and I'm there! ((Yay!))
Unfortunately, Friday is a dialysis day and it's back in my home town an hour away! ((booooooo))
Fortunatelly, this would be on the second to last week of the term I start in 2 weeks, which I am only taking one class because I failed it and can't take any more until I pass it, so I may have dialysis earlier still then normal 5-9 pm! ((Yay!))
Yet still driving (or my mom driving) down there after dialysis depending on the time and then back to my house again that same night wouldn't make much sense((booooo))
But if this is a friday-sat event, saturday could work for me. :bandance; ((yay!))
I haven't read this whole thread yet(mostly because of it being 2am), but as for places to go, downtown chicago in general, the shedd aqaurium, and the zoos! O my I love the zoos (well, I'm being a vet tech so I better love animals! :) ). But there's a train..it'd be about just less than 2 miles from that hotel, that goes into downtown chicago. Believe me. I used to take it everyday then walk to school. Not too pricey either. :)

Are you going to school to become a vet tech?
If so, at JJC or at Parkland College downstate?
I was in the vet tech program at JJC and we went behind the scenes at Lincoln Park and Brookfield Zoo.
Knew I forgot something Wednesday when I went downtown, a train schedule for Tinley Park

Yes, I am! School- None of the above. I go to one that opened less than two years ago. Kennel at the school, 16 month program. well, longer then that for me cause of my kidneys but eh, what can ya do?

there's the "rock island" train schedule. :)
EDITED: Fixed quote tag error - Sluff/Admin

Didn't hear about tat one.
Been going to school for a long time too, since Aug of 1999, then had to change majors. Miss working with animal though,even the farm ones that you bring home the smell. I was bullheaded enough to take 14 credit hours while on dialysis. I didn't mind it, kept me busy and running around, but healthwise, something would come up and require a hospital stay.
Good Luck
Oh, I have that link too, but for me it is easier to read the printed schedule from the train station, easier on the eyes.
-
I'm not sure who is all going so they would only give me 15 rooms.
-
I'm going, just don't need a room since I have a short drive there.
-

My school is 12-20 credit hours depending on what term I'm on. Just can't start before 8:10, can't end after 4. Luckily, The one term so far that I had dialysis I have transfer credit from my last college so my school day wasn't that long. However, I do have to redo a class cuase of doctor's appts and my mom's rotator cuff surgery, and my AV fistula surgery all happened in the same term, and I just missed too much.
-
Here are the double decker buses in Chicago,. I missed getting one of the trolley that is a free service, but will try again on June 10.
-
Finally made my flight and hotel reservations :yahoo; so I am really looking forward to meeting you all in Chicago!
-
I picked some more information up at the train station. I will scan it later tonight and post it. One of them is free things to do in Chicago this summer. Forgot what else I picked up yesterday.
-
Well the information that I picked up pretty much deals with getting around from Union Station, ie what buses to take). One was for a water taxi service. I picked up a brochure on the free trolley service, but there is also a web address that would be better than scanning it. It is www.CityChicago.org/Transportation/Trolleys
Hancock Observatory is open during the fireworks display which is at 10:15 on Saturday. www.877chicago.com is for tourist needs for planning a day in Chicago. Not sure if this was posted, www.millenniumpark.org
Music Festivals in Grant Park, www.grantparkmusicfestival.com There is Lollapalooza going on August 3 - 5, but can't remember what day we are suppose to meet right now as I type.
-
If we run short on rooms, I'll bring my tour bus to stay in. :guitar: :guitar:

Oh boy, I have always wanted to... um.. never mind heheheh :o

I was just funnin' anyway. The only tour bus I ever rode in was the yellow one that took me to school evry day.

My daughter Maria may be able to come from Milwaukee on Megabus to Chicago to the Reunion of IHD.com. She is a member of IHD.com and is my daughter. She may need a place to crash for the night on Friday. So if anyone has a room or an idea let me or her know. Her name here is thepandaones for a PM. I will let you all know.

She could bunk with us for a night Kitkatz.

I will let her know. She can take Megabus down and busses over to Tinley park really cheaply. She is considering it.

coolio :thumbup;

If we have a better idea of what is planned, I might be able to save some more money. Due to latest medical expenses (medications, trips to doctors in Chicago, and hospital stay), I have totally lost what I have saved. So I need a game plan to at least make it to one meeting. Gonna try to not drive as much, although that's out the door this month, a half a tank that needs to last till payday (ain't gonna happen). Gonna try to budget July, August on the other hand maybe harder with school starting.

Bring family or friends along to help with the gas bill. I don't have any money this year either becuse of other expenses as well but I don't think it will cost much. I may not join in the reindeer games but at least I will be there.

Just bringing myself, I'm a loaner :rofl;

Well I just got off the phone with the hotel booking a room for me and my mom... my mom decided that we should get a room instead of having to drive back and forth an hour multiple times during the weekend. :)
Now who else is a comin? ;D

Hopefully gas won't be $5.00 a gallon. :o

I'll be easy to find. Not too many people in Chicago wearing overalls and a John Deere cap with a polystyrene spit cup.
-
Sounds like you all are going to have LOTS and LOTS of fun! Please take pictures for those of us who cannot attend :'( Hubby and I would love to be there, but he has exhausted all his vacation time being with me in Lubbock after my transplant.... and I wouldn't be able to attend a big function like this just yet anyways. I hope that next year we will be able to attend.
-
Thepandaones is my daughter. Give her hard time for me! She is goofy but great!
-
I'm afraid I'm going to have to bow out on this one, at least for now, as I am still waiting on a date for (supposedly) impending donation surgery, and with any luck, I'll be recovering at home around August 1st. I must say that I'm kind of tired of having my life on hold, but that's another story, and one that many of you are all too familiar with already. Anyway, now I'm setting my sights on Vegas in October! We'll see.
-
I'm disappointed but I sure do understand. Will miss you. :cuddle;

I haven't seen any posts in a few days. I hope everyone isn't getting cold feet. I wanna see Sluff in a Cubs hat.

No cubs hat for me....Brewers. :)

Now that I am back from visiting AlohaBeth, I can focus on Chicago. 4 weeks! The restaurant is booked for 30 (their minimum for using the banquet room) -- so now we need numbers. Deposit is paid and they seem very helpful in setting up and planning. Who wants to do what? I am kind of like Sluff---sitting and visiting will probably be what I do most. But, there are lots of options for entertainment and plenty of time after our dinner to do things. Navy Pier might be the best idea for Saturday night. It could be helpful to have a list of "real" names, if anyone would like to pm me with there info. It would also be nice to know approximately when people are arriving. Anyone have more ideas? My dining room is starting to look like IHD.com central! I'm bringing some "things" with me to share! Let's start generating some excitement!! :yahoo; :bandance; :clap; :clap; :yahoo;
-
I'm actually staying at a nearby motel. Since I'm skipping dialysis on Saturday, I need the sauna and exercise equipment to keep the fluids off. I'll be arriving on Friday.
-
Great, flip! I may be on a park bench, but I will be there! Are you bringing the moonshine? :beer1;
-
Let me know if you run short of occupants for the block of rooms that are reserved and I will switch. I don't usually gain too much fluid anyway.
Hopefully, it will rain here soon. We've been in the middle of a drought and my cousin doesn't like to fire up his still when the woods are dry.
-
O'Karol, Jess21 is coming so should be added to the list.
See from just a few posts up.

Chicago At Sunset - Boat Tour
Heading directly onto Lake Michigan, a brilliant array of lights will come to life along the skyline. After a stunning sunset and relaxing trip along the lakefront, the boat will enter Monroe Harbor for a front row seat for the Buckingham Fountain Water and Lights Show.
The Chicago at Sunset Tour offers the opportunity to enjoy one of Chicago's most romantic and unique settings.
Adults $25. Seniors (age 65 and over) $22. Children (age 11 and under) $12. Infants (under age 3) No charge
http://www.wendellaboats.com/sunset.htm
-
Boy, senior get a whopping $3.00 price break, yet kids get $13 price break. Seems to me seniors should get a little more. Then again, I didn't major in economics and business. ;D
-
That and the Navy Pier are two ideas for Saturday night. Relaxing, good views--- doesn't take much energy. Sounds good to me.
And you are right Chris, seniors should get a better break!
-
Most likely the sun will have gone down by the time dinner is done Saturday...Tinley Park is a still a bit of a hike from Chicago...an hour on train.
-
Yep, I hate those every stop trains. I love the expres trains, either there are 3 stops before mine or I'm the first stop. These days though, hard to get a seat with more people switching to commuter trains.
-
Sluff suggested an early dinner, since we wanted plenty of time to visit. Last year in Vegas, we could have used more time at dinner, so our reservations are for 4! We know that seems kind of early, but by the time we meet, greet, eat, laugh and cry--it will be 7!
Chris and Jess, can you two advice us on the best way, times and expense in getting downtown? Is is better for all to go by train? Or by cars? Remembering some are in wheelchairs,or just can't walk long distances. Any way to find out the price of parking by Navy Pier? Thanks guys! It helps having you two "on site". :2thumbsup;
Also, who will have cars with them or renting cars? We will rent a car at the airport. We may have enough vehicles to transport all of us. 4 weeks!! :yahoo;
-
Metra, our commuter train has wheelchair accessible trains. As far as the train from Tinley Park, I never have been to that train station in Chicago. I use a different Metra commuter line that takes me into Union Station where I am familiar to where the elevators are to get outside. The Metra line I take offers a $5 weekend pass which is cheap compared to the weekly fee such as $4.75 for a one way ticket. There are weekend passes at the train station for the CTA buses in Chicago, which I think are also $5.00. I took a picture on my cell phone and need to download it. I would say the train is the best option for cost and convenience (less headache and hassle to driving in a town you never been to before) not to mention fuel savings.
-
I take 4 trains a day...atleast my first train is a non stop! Also, with this week being the forth of July, it's been fun avoiding (or the lack there of) all the Taste Of Chicago and Cross-town classic (Sox vs Cubs) people. i feel like this.. :Kit n Stik; lol Especially with walking from Union station to lasalle st station (goes into tinley park).
Navy pier is 23 bucks a day parking. Train (Tinley park has free parking if I remember at the station) is 5 bucks (Metra has a weekend pass). Buses are a couple bucks. Driving is 31.1 miles (41 minutes) from hotel to navy pier.
Chris- the Lasalle St station has a elevator right next to the escalators going up to the platforms it's maybe 1/5 the size of Union Station.
-
Forgot about the parking fee in Chicago, wholly crap! $23 now, the last time I drove into Chicago it was $10 (1990 something when the autoshow was at Mc Cormick Place). I'll download the photo of the CTA pass when my phone is charged back up, I think it is more than a weekend pass and can be used at anytime. Hopefully the photo will tell. But if they don't have it at the LaSalle Station, no point then, just be sure to have exact change for bus and don't expect to get change back from bus either. A no change policy is in effect. So if you have a $20 and bus fare is $2.00 and you need to be on that bus, you loose $18.00 and don't expect sympathy from anyone on the bus or from the bus driver. Seen that a few times too, but I usually take a taxi to where I need to go unless I am with someone who knows the bus route and which bus to get on to or transfer to. Not to mention those seats are uncomfortable! :rant;
-
CTA Bus Pass cost (not the greatest picture, should have checked to use 2 mp mode). I'll take it again this Thursday, July 10.
-
Chris and Jess---Thank you!! Ok--all of those going--give us some input re: transportation. Maybe if we can talk about it now, we will have less time to worry about those details when we are in Chicago. Input would be greatly appreciated. Who wants to do what? And go where? Let's talk :2thumbsup;
-
Just wondering if too late to get in on this meeting? Also wondering if Paddlebear from Dayton found a way yet? My husband and I would love to come and will be checking on it today but we will drive from Toledo Ohio and if Paddlebear and honey want to meet us in Toledo we can carpool (u better be nice and fun) :bandance; Let me know! As soon as I figure out hotel avail and if hubby wants to go (he's at work) I will let you all know. Thanks
-
I really don't care much about the activities. I just want to meet and visit with everyone.
-
and eat. :rofl;
-
Laurie, PLEASE come! Tell your sweet RN husband that we really want you both to be there. Meeting Sluff will make it worth you time!! And I can't wait to meet Flip! I do hope you can make the trip. I look forward to meeting you in person. :clap;
-
Thanks Paris! I can't wait to meet all of you also! Everyone seems like sooooooooo much fun! Is there any other meeting time/place other than dinner on Sat? Is there actually a meeting? Or just use as excuse to get together? Ha ha tee hee (fine with me if so) I could use the break from reality! Couldn't we all? Talk to you soon. :bandance;
-
Hi Laurie, many of us are coming on Friday. Saturday at 4 is the "official IHD dinner". Most of us just want to be together and visit. But there is a lot to do in Chicago for those who want to go sightseeing. We will have some information available at the hotel. I can not say enough how important it was for me to go to the meet in Vegas last year. I came away with unbelievable friendships and partners in crime. :rofl; It will be much fun to see the person that goes with the name. And our two Administrators will be there; Sluff and Okarol. Have you found the info on the dinner? Let us know if you have more questions. PLEASE come. :2thumbsup;
-
I picked something new up while at the train station in Chicago. I noticed while there that there is a train from O'Hare to Union Station, which then you could take to other towns. I am not sure if there is a train to the other train station that goes to Tinely Park as one way to save some money and then take a taxi to the hotel from the Tinley Park station. Although that would be a time consuming way to travel.
-
union station doesn't have any trains that go to tinley park. only lasalle st station does, which is less then a mile away from union station.
-
Will you do this next year? I would like to meet everyone one of these days.
-
Will you do this next year? I would like to meet everyone one of these days.
I hope so. We did it last year and had one meeting in Vegas. This year we are having two so some of the members that can not travel that far might find this one closer.
-
union station doesn't have any trains that go to tinley park. only lasalle st station does, which is less then a mile away from union station.
Yes, I know, but there is a sign posted that trains that travel from Ohare to Union Station and was wondering if they had service like that to the LaSalle Station as one possible means of traveling from the airport to the hotel. I should have wrote that better last night. Also not sure if there is a cab number posted at the Tinely Park station like they do at the one I go to.
-
I am getting excited about going to Chicago! It was so great to see everyone last year in Vegas. It's funny how people's real personalities come out in their typed words in posts, so you feel like you really know them when you first meet and speak. It's really a wonderful connection! After the IHD meeting I get to see my sister on Sunday (she's in Wisconsin) so I doubly am happy!

All you guys going to Chicago will be 5 1/2 hours from me... lalala... come drive over. :P

It's your turn, come to Chicago, maybe Mom or Dad can bring ya or a grey Hound.
-
Yeah Angela, come to Chicago, you can stay in my room!
-
Remember to bring the purple boas.
-
sorry...too much clash with John Deere green
-
Flip, you can bring a green boa, If you promise to actually wear it!
-
Do we have a head count?? The restaurant will be calling me in a couple of days to confirm the number of people. Saturday, August 2nd at 4 PM. It is really getting close now! Who is coming to Chicago?? :bandance; :yahoo; :2thumbsup;
-
I plan to be there, but what food are they having? Was it posted? I haven't read the begining of the post since it started. Guess I better look.
-
Just a reminder. I am going to look them up on the internet to see if they post a menu. My one concern, finding the place since my familiarity with Tinley Park is limited.
The restaurant is booked.

I will be there! :flower;
-
Ok, now I have to ask, which food is being served? All the tomato sauce stuff is gonna make me sick.
-
They have other choices besides tomato based food. order what ever you want. Nothing says you have to order anything particular. The pricing and information we posted is only to give everyone an idea of pricing.
-
Ahhh, ok I was thinking of the banquet seatingpricing/food service
-
So, here's the deal. The orginal booking is for the banquet room, family style @ $13.50. Yes, pasta, pizza.meatballs appetizer combo and soft drinks. Use of the banquet room is based on 30 or more, so I paid the deposit and booked the room going by the number of people who were coming. The economy has made many have to re-evalutate their plans. It doesn't look like there will be anywhere near that number. The restaurant will call this week to go over plans. That is why I really need a good count. We may have to just not use the banquet room and have a different set up. Best laid plans--------- Some on the orginal list haven't posted for quite some time. Most food makes me :puke;!! My husband says I am a cheap date because I hardly order anything when we eat out. I don't think any one restaurant will work for everyone. I am sure we can work things out. I will ask the restaurant when I talk to them. Maybe they will refund my deposit and we can just have reservations in the dining room and order off the menu. Now I am getting stessed and this is suppose to be fun!!
-
Well I did look at the menu and found some things that interest me. Ordering it and finishing it is another story. Plus I am still not sure what the plans are for Friday and Saturday. I'm trying to plan out spending to be able to do something, yet still have money for the rest of the month when I start school
-
Just come Chris. The $$ will work out.
-
Don't worry Paris. There is no way to pick the perfect everything, that is why I asked for help in arranging the plans. I will definitely be there as well as Christy and maybe Josh. I am responsible for a few rooms that probably won't be used as well but I wanted to make sure that we had enough rooms available. This happens at every event that I have ever planned, not just IHD. It's normal. Don't stress out because worse case scenario is you will have to visit me. :rofl;
-
Thanks, Sluff. I've got some other things going on here and I think my stress level is up because of that. I am sure the restaurant will work out fine.
Chris, I think people just want to visit on Friday--those who are there. Saturday night, the option will be there to go to Navy Pier and a river or sunset cruise. The hotel has continental breakfast, so I imagine most will meet up in the morning. My husband likes to go do things, and he has been looking at museums, etc to visit. I don't walk far or fast right now, so he may do more than me and may be looking for someone to explore with him. We are flying in,renting a car and will be there sometime Friday--hopefully early afternoon. And we are family, so just come and we will all do what we can do.
Looking forward to getting out of town, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. :2thumbsup;
-
I'm in it for the food and friendship. I don't plan on doing much sight seeing anyway, I hate Chicago...Ha Ha. Really I do. :shy;
-
I'm going to switch my reservation to Sleep Inn. I'll just dialyze extra time on Thursday and watch my fluids so I won't need the sauna.
-

No offense, there are a lot of things I don't like about Chicago either, besides the politics and Chicago/Cook County being the highest tax rate in the country.
-
Flip, I like the new aviatar!
-
thanx
-
We are for sure not going to make it. Otto's machine gets delivered August 1st between 12-4 and we have to have everything set up for his first run Monday. SORRY, I could just cry I'm so upset about missing out AGAIN!!!! :'(
-
Lola, we are all excited for Otto and Wall-e! You will be missed. Next year! Right?!
-
Do we need to do a new head count and see how many are coming? I'm hoping it's quite a few. I can make room if anyone from this area needs a ride.
-
Wish I could be there but we have plans. I've never even been to Chicago. Hope you all have loads of fun.
-
It's not one of my favorite places but I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.
-

I think so too.
-
Not me... I don't have a car.
-
I'll send my limo.
-
Sweet. lol
-
Unfortunately I am starting school next Wednesday. Telling the boss, Oh I gotta got o Chicago for the weekend so I will miss Friday and Monday, just will not work! Especially when Wednesday is the first day kids are back. I would lose the entire class for the year. Love you all and best wished. Maria, my youngest daughter, may show up in my stead.
-
I was in Chicago two weeks ago and had a GREAT time...and lots of it cost nothing at all. We spent an entire morning at Millenium Park, checking out the big kidney (pictures to follow) and the cool fountain. Navy Pier is great...fireworks on Weds and Saturday nights that I recommend...window shopping on the Miracle Mile, or just hanging out in Wrigleyville on a game night.
I wish I could join you all, but I know you'll have a great time
-
On a positive note, Rolando and I :2thumbsup; WILL :2thumbsup; be there and we CAN'T WAIT!!!
We are now arriving THURSDAY night instead of Friday night (dialysis in Chicago on Fri am and Mon am)
And, looking forward to meeting everyone.
It is highly likely that Rolando's niece and her two small children, and his nephew (from Michigan) will join us for the weekend.
Hasta real soon folks!!!
:clap;
-
I thought about dialyzing in Chicago but decided it was too much red tape and paperwork so I'lljust try to drink a little less. Looking forward to meeting you all.
-
Can't wait to meet you both! I hope the neice, nephew, kids all are able to come. What a fun time for you. See you next week!
-
Cool, people are really coming! :rofl;
-
looks like at least 6 of us
-
Just talked to the restaurant. I have told them the number has dropped. We still can use part of the banquet room. If there are 25, we will do the family style menu. If less than that, we will order off the menu. The manager was very accommodating. Check that off my list of things to do! :rofl;
-
checked... ;)
-
Next thing on list----- for those who want to or are able to: after dinner head to Navy Pier, short sightseeing cruise available all evening (30 minutes seeing Chicago from the Lake, about $15 and handicap friendly) and then fireworks every Saturday night at the Pier. Or, if we are stuffed and can't move, back to hotel to continue the party :bandance;
-
:yahoo;

That reminds me - we need to do a group photo at the "Bean" - the giant chrome kidney!

I like to do that. I'll have to Google where the train station is in relation to the restaurant or the hotel to see if it will be easy for me to navigate at night. I know I can drive on the highway to my house at night, but not familiar with that area is a concern (I do not trust 100% in my GPS unit, HP has not updated the maps in 2 years >:( :rant;)

Just remember everyone, we are all a team. If anyone needs help - a ride, a driver, someone to follow home or wherever, make it known. Together we will do it. Even if we end up lost, we'll be lost together!
-
That would be a great picture! :2thumbsup;

Already been lost in that area a couple years ago, somehow found way home the back way instead of the highway.
-
Is there a dress code in the restaurant or is tee shirt and shorts okay? I'm not a dress up person anymore.
-
I think that would be fine. Looking at the website, people are wearing T-Shirts. I have never been to a dress up pizza joint.
-
I didn't know. I've never been to Chicago other than passing through.
-
Oooohhh...I so wish I was going! I was in Chicago yesterday attending an expo at McCormick Place for work. I LOVE Chicago!!!! We ate at a wonderful italian restaurant called Volaires.
-
Jill, I can't believe we missed you by a week! Don't you go canoeing, camping next week? Have a great time. See you in Vegas??
Flip, I think we are all at the casual stage of life now. Even when I dress up, I am the most casual person in the room. I am sure my husband will be in shorts and tennis shoes.
No worries about anything now. Once we are together we will work everything out. Like aharris2 said, we will stick together and make sure everyone is having a great time. We are family, right? I am starting to get excited now. :2thumbsup;
-
Okarol, I was looking through the old posts and I really like the sunset cruise you posted about. Sounds like it would be beautiful views of Chicago. :thumbup;
-
All day parking at Navy Pier for Friday or Saturday is $23. Fireworks at the Pier are at 10:15. My family enjoyed the beer garden, sipping drinks and listening to the bands. It is 1:30 am and I can't sleep, again, so here I am researching. :urcrazy;
-
Yes, we have our annual canoe weekend next week, which is something we look forward to every year!
I have not yet committed to Vegas, but haven't ruled it out either. I have been to Vegas twice in the last year and both times the trip wiped me out. However, my desire to see everyone is so strong that there is a good chance we'll be there!

You gotta go Jill, who else would drink shots of tequila as well as you?

If I have my truck, I can't drive on Lake Shore Drive to get to Navy Pier. Vehicles with truck plates will be ticketed if caught on Lake Shore Drive. It's a stupid old old law they never took off. Do not want o take the chance and get a Chicago Cop with an attitude. If I can get my vehicle in the repair shop, then I might have a rental car at the time. I just hate city traffic though, Country Boy at heart (not the music though :rofl;)
-
I have cell phone numbers for the following people:

Great! Looking forward to meeting you and Donna! :2thumbsup;

Yes, Maria will have a good time!

I added her name! Thanks--am glad she will be there too! :2thumbsup;
-
Thanks Jess21, I got your cell phone number. :bandance;
-
Remember to bring the purple boas.
yeah baby yeah!
-
KitKatz and her boa :rofl;

Closest thing I have to anything with purple is a white shirt with my schools logo. The school color is purple.
If there are people there on Friday, is there a plan to do something?

I will be there Thursday night, so will Rolando and Alene. Just hanging out together I think.
-
My plan was to be there Thursday, but it depends if my lawns are done today otherwise I may have to work thursday and come down fri or Late thursday.
-
I'm going to a large book sale in Oak Park on Saturday morning. Is that a pretty good section of town? I'm sure Chris will know.
BTW, we'll be there sometime Friday afternoon.
-
We'll be there sometime Friday afternoon. A book sale? My husband might like to hear about that. He might go to a museum Saturday before the dinner. He knows I can't keep up, and I don't want him to miss out on things he enjoys. He loves all museums. I will be sitting and visiting! Anyone want to go see the "bean" Friday early evening? I have been getting things ready to go and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone. Also ready to :cuddle; Sluff and Okarol again. :2thumbsup;
-
The book sale makes this officially a business trip.

That's the one. There are also three others in the Chicago area on Saturday, but this one is the biggest.
-
I went to Triton College in River Forest and the parts I've been to in Oak Park to seem safe. In college we use to go all around places for lunch in groups. We found one place that sold us beer and non of us where of age nor did they check our ID's. Although we all had Ford Motor Company jackets on :rofl;
Not sure where the high school is though, I do know it's not by the horse racing track though :rofl;
-
I assume you're talking about the harness track. Looks like it's about 6 blocks or so away.
-
My mom went to school in River Forest, and she says Oak Park is right next to it and is a good city. She thinks the high school is just south of Concordia University.
They want me early (the latest 1pm) at dialysis, so we should be there by 6:30, and I know I'm going to be ready for dinner when I get there. :bandance; Anyone going out Friday?
-
I think I get paid Friday, so if there is a group who wants to go out, I am up for it.
Flip, yep that's the track I am talking about. Forgot the name of it though, Balmorial, but not sure. It's on the corner of 1st Avenue and North Avenue (64) if I remember correctly.
-
I hope you guys all have a really great time together and I wish I could be there also to meet those members who are going. Please eat some forbidden foods for me and I'll be thinking of you all starting tomorrow.
-
Well, it is almost 11pm on Wednesday. The info sheets aren't printed. The name tags aren't made. Everything else is in place---but no matter how well I plan, time always runs out! I do have lots of purple things, though!! We want to do something Friday night, too. We will be up for anything. :2thumbsup; I am ready to be in Chicago!
-
Paris, send me the file and I will print the info sheets
-
I'm not sure what time we will be there on Friday but I'm always game for anything no matter how bad I feel or how late it is.
-
Have a very, very great time! I am going to the beach to stare at the horizon, but still I will be thinking about y'all.
-
I may bring some of my cousins along to help liven things up. My room has two double beds which will sleep 12 hillbillies.
-

Sounds almost like Noah's Ark... :rofl;
-
Actually more like Next Of Kin
-
Whoohoo, I get paid Friday, so I'll be able to gas my truck up and maybe have lunch (late) or dinner with a few on Friday. For sure on Saturday.
-
I'll buy you a Nepro
-
Now is that going to be one of your special Nepro drinks there flip? :rofl; :beer1;
-
I'll be thinking of those of of you who are meeting in Chicago. Hope you have a wonderful time together and I wish I could be there to meet you all as well. :grouphug;
-
Me and my family will be leaving this morning around 9 or 10 am and should be there by 2 or 3pm. Can't wait.
-
Sluff is on his way to Chicago!! See you there tomorrow!
-
Have fun yall! I am in Wisconsin on vacation.
-
Party at Angela's on Friday is the new plan on something to do! :rofl; :rofl;
-
To all that is going or currently there now, have a BLAST of a time :beer1;. Please take lots and lots of pictures for all to see. Wish I could be there.
Be safe,
RG
-
My charge nurse wasn't real happy when I told her that I was skipping Saturday. She told me to watch my fluids and I told her I would. I guess I'll have my bourbon straight. I hope to post some pics over the weekend of all the gang in Chicago.
-
I'm in Tinley Park at the Motel. Arrived around 3pm. Picking Karol up around 10pm at the airport. :2thumbsup;
-
looking forward to the pictures!
-
See you guys tomorrow evening. I'll probably try to get in right after rush hour traffic dies down.
-
Have a wonderful time, all you guys!! PICTS, PICTS, PICTS, PICTS!!!!!!!!!
-
Pictures....but no stories. Like Sluff said "what happens in Chicago, stays in Chicago".
-
Just remember to stay away from Karol, she might be using the web cam on the laptop with a microphone :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
-
Come on, we want stories too. You're among friends here, unless Flip is really planning to misbehave....no that can't be right.
-
I'm taking all of my electronic toys too.
BTW, Chris.....my brother stopped by today and said that Oak Park is okay. He also said don't even drive thru Harvey in the daytime.
-
LOL, very true of Harvey. Good Luck with rush hours(s) traffic
-
I'll be coming up 57 and getting on 80 to Tinley Park. Is that a bad traffic area or is it all bad? I've driven in LA and New York but my brother said Chicago is worse.
-
At the interchange it will be more problematic and once on 80, some stop and go between 3 -6 pm
-
Just remember to stay away from Karol, she might be using the web cam on the laptop with a microphone :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
I have a pocket sized voice recorder. I should sell the audio to the highest bidder. :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

-
I still have a few toys left from my law enforcement days but I'll stick to the camera this weekend.
-
Sluff, Christy and Patton picked me up at the airport! Talk about service. And then we stopped and had White Castle Burgers!!! My first ever (well besides those frozen ones from the market) - these were so yummy! Rolando and Alene were delayed due to thunder storms so they will be in late tonight. I am so excited to see everyone!
:yahoo;
-
Hey everyone. Unfortunately Maria has had to cancel her plans to come to Chicago. Her life has gone crazy just recently and work priorities are a must. She sends her love and will miss all of you.
-
All of you have blasts. :flower;
-
Sorry Maria cannot make it Kit!
Rolando and Alene made it to bed around 4 am I think! Long day for them. Chris is on his way here.
It's hot! Patton and I walked in the heat this morning - good to get exercise but humidity is new for me.
-
humidity sucks------ O'karol
you are sweaty all the time
wow
I wish Chicago was in Conroe
-
:beer1; Flip and Sluff----do not take fluids from strangers
:flower;
-
O'karol
you are sweaty all the time
I have that effect on women.
-
I'm currently sitting in the Tinley Park hotel, contemplating which of the many games I brought I'm going to suggest first. :yahoo; I'm currently in the same building as Paris..somewhere. :flower;
-
So great to hear from you guys. Enjoy! WISH I WERE THERE!!! :'( LAS VEGAS, HURRY UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the photos. Keep them coming.
Looks like you are having a good time. Enjoy!
-
Two of us are here and waiting for everyone to get going. Just sitting in the lobby listening to music on pc to waist time :rofl;
Flip just showed up with me and Patton.
-
It's 6.45 p.m. on Saturday here in the UK :ukflag; so I've decided to put on my purple boa (thanks again Petey) and raise a glass to Susie and all our other 'IHD family' who are no longer with us, we seem to have lost a lot in the year I have been here.
Also "Cheers" to you guys in Chicago, :wine; loving the photos.
-
This is much more fun than dialysis. I bet all the people in the center are wondering where I am right now.
More pics tonight
-
We had a blast at our dinner, the food was good and there were some cool donated items for everyone. Paris and Karol did a wonderful job putting this together. Some of us are headed to chicago tonight and some of us are going to bed early. The one thing that makes the IHD meetings so memorable is that everyone does what ever they want, it is stress free even while we get lost, eat too much, and act silly. WOW what a weekend. :2thumbsup;
-
Ladies and the Purple Boas
-
Flip Bob - you do D on Saturdays? please have the best time and drink too much-- not enough to get sick but enough to have fun -
too hell with fluid intake and out put
I just got off the internet looking for some recipes I though you would like----- did you know you can make oatmeal cookies with vodka?
( the vodka goes into the cookie dough --- not the cook)
hope you have the time of your life---- no DWI ---- and remember no D tomorrow to help with your hangover :shy; Cheryl
-
I hope you all are having the times of your lives in Chicago. I talked to Karol and Sluff today around 4 their time. Las Vegas here we come!

Fabulous boas and tiara gentlemen!

I just got home a couple minutes ago from Tinley Park. It is now 2:36 am.

Ohh, I apologize to Pattons parents for giving him those ringtones, My Bad ;D Hopefully not over playing them till his phone goes dead :rofl;
-

Those fish where what was used for your sushi dish or cooked meal. You picked which one you wanted and they sliced and diced it in front of you. The calamari even talked to us as it was being cooked. (It smelled though)
-
Sorry okarol, I said I wasn't going to turn my pc on when I got home, but can't sleep. So I am uploading my videos to YouTube now instead of waiting.. Just hope I did it right and gave enough description.
Taking a long time to upload to their website, 12 minutes and only 24% is uploaded on first video.
1st picture, The Women of IHD
2nd picture, Suprise, It's someones birthday (Paris) and we all sing :birthday; :birthday; :pics;

And thanks for the picts too. Lovely seeing the guys and gals with the purple boas.
LAS VEGAS, HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had another party to go to on Saturday so I missed the Chicago party but then I got a call from Sluff and he wanted to stop over at my house today. Low and behold Arlene and Rolando, Okarol, Sluff and his wife and son Cristy and Patton show up in my driveway. What a thrill to see them all. We all went to lunch together and had a real nice time. When we where done we came back to my house and said our good byes. After giving me a hug Karol jumped on the back of Sluff's bike and off they went to her sister's house and Arlene and Rolando headed back to Chicago. They all are some of the nicest people you ever want to meet...Boxman
PS We took pics Okarol will post
-
They all are some of the nicest people you ever want to meet...Boxman
Yes, Yes they are :thumbup;
I had a great time, even trying to find way around and back from Chicago. Gotta Love technology, 2 GPS units not agreeing with each other :rofl; :urcrazy;
-
That was super! So many of you being able to meet up with Boxman and spend some time with him. IHD is the BOMB!!!!!
-
Great that everyone had such a good time.
-
thanks that was great to watch :clap;

;D Maybe each car should've had a GPS, instead of the car in the rear most of the time having two? My recent call list today was Chris, Okarol, Chirs, Chris, Okarol, Okarol, Paris. LOL
Technology arguing with itself... :rofl; I have 10 secs of Paris' happy birthday song..it's not good quality, but let me see if I can get it up on youtube.
-
I should have done that and didn't think about it at the time. Could have captured the passing around of her ice cream bowl to that made 2 laps around the table too. :rofl;
-
Wow, it looks like you all had a wonderful time.
Did you go to Navy Pier and did you do the boat cruise?
-
How great that many of you got to meet up wih Boxman.
What a GREAT BUNCH OF GUYS AND GALS.
-
It's 7:00 Sunday night and I just got home and feel absolutely no ill effects from skipping dialysis yesterday. It was great meeting the members who came and I hope to meet even more of you all in Vegas.
-
I wish I had been there. I missed a great party.
-
Wow, it looks like you all had a wonderful time.
Did you go to Navy Pier and did you do the boat cruise?
Yes, a few of us went to Navy Pier and Okarol has taken some pictures. We went late and didn't take the boat cruise. We did see the fireworks as we were walking there.
Okarol, Patton, Jess21 and her mom, Paris and her husband, and myself went. I let Okarol drive my vehicle. I had a GPS unit and Okarol's phone has GPS on it with traffic updates. Thus we had technology that never agreed with each other on which way to take. We were trying for Millennium Park (the Giant Chrome Kidney Bean), but there was concerts going on and roads where closed, thus making it hard to get around in a place you have no idea about. I started to recognize some of the buildings because it was close to my transplant hospital and I knew there was a parking structure there.So we walked a ways to Navy Pier.
-
This is from dinner last night. I pressed the wrong button on my phone before I started recording, so it's not the whole song, but anyway, you can see Paris and her ice cream that made it's own round around the table without being finished!
:birthday; Paris :birthday;

by the way, it's loud. Just like us. :)
edit: sound is horrible for some reason. isn't like that until I save it on my comp..i'll fix it later.
Edited: Fixed smiley error - Sluff/Admin

1. After taking the long road we ended up at Cracker barrel on Friday night.
2. The table with purple boas in remembrance of Goofynina. Great job Paris!
3. The guys.
4. Committing Rolondo.

I wish I had been there. I missed a great party.
You were there. :grouphug;

What a great weekend!! I have so many things so say and share. It is amazing how a group of people, all dealing with health issues, come together and spends the entire time laughing, joking, eating and eating and eating, and there is no whining or complaining. It is inspirational to see everyone traveling and enjoying life. It was wonderful to see Okarol, Sluff and Kristie again. Just like being with your favorite sister and brother. And Sluff's son is great. This teenager was a friend to everyone; he was the first to help each of us, always asking if we needed anything or if we were ok. I was extremely impressed with his compassion and maturity. And he was so much fun. I wanted to adopt him! Sluff, you have done an incredible job as a father. I love Josh! Flip and Donna, it was fun sitting with you both at Cracker Barrel. My husband enjoyed talking about Lexington and the area. Donna, I think we must be related! It was good to hear your point of view on the kidney stuff. Flip takes life with such a good attitude. Never complains, always positive (maybe that is the moonshine!). Flip, so glad you brought Donna! She is a lot of fun. Jess21 and Nancy---well, how did the microchipping go?? :rofl; Nancy, thanks for coming with Jess21 to see what this group is all about. Jess has such a good attitude, too. It is nice to see how close the two of you are. And Chris, our computer wiz! Master of all things electronical! Nice truck!! You had posted pictures and links before I even got back to Raleigh. Thanks for recommending Portillos--best hot dog I have ever had! It was so good to meet you in person. If you want to meet two people who will encourage you to do anything you want to---well, that is Alene and Rolando (aharris2). They both have permanent smiles. I never saw either one when they weren't smiling. Rolondo's neice and nephew joined us and they were always smiling! I think the nephew looks just like Rolando (Engelbert was really cute!). Nothing stops these two. My husband says he has never been with any group where everyone was so happy. We all were happy to be together, strenghten our friendships, and making new ones. It is like a family reunion without the relatives you don't like!! And for those who weren't there--- we talking about you(all good things!), and you were all included in all we did. My husband says he has never seen me so outgoing and silly. You guys bring the fun side out in me! Our trip home was long. We got to the airport about noon Sunday and arrived in Raleigh about 1am Monday morning! Today has been one of dozing and resting. The trip was worth every moment of trying to get home and I am ready to go again! Thanks everyone, for a wonderful weekend. And to Tinley Park, our apologies for all the purple feathers we left all over town!! Feathers were blowing in the wind everywhere. We were surrounded by Susie all the time. :grouphug; :grouphug;
-
Something about Tinley Park sounded familiar to me and today I figured it out. For those in the caravan Friday night searching for Cracker Barrel.....the shopping center where we finally turned around is the one where 5 women in a Lane Bryant store were shot to death back in February. There are still no suspects.
-
I think I am glad I didn't know that before we went! We did take the scenic route to dinner that night.
Meinuk, kind of like our road trip from the hotel to dinner in Vegas! :rofl; This group can always make a five minute trip into a 30 minute trip!

My cousin managed that store awhile before the shootings, I guess she works in Blue island now.

Actually we where there on Saturday. The mall that had that store is where Portillos was located, on 159th. It was across from Target.
Also, Okarol posted a couple videos on YouTube also using a laptop. Here are the links.

-
According to the one article I read, the store was in the mall at 191st and Harlem.
-
If it was 191st, that would be Orland Park and could be that there are 2 Targets and Lane Bryants. I saw the Lane Bryant sign when we entered Portillo's the back way. Oh well, we made it unscaved from the area. Well except for that brief stop at the mental health center :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
-
We really enjoyed Oak Park on Saturday morning. The streets were alive with people and we found them all to be very friendly. After the book sale we toured the neighborhood and checked out the Frank Lloyd Wright home & museum and all the many homes in the area that he designed.
-
Thanks for sharing the pics. I missed being able to go by 1 stinking day, but you gotta do what ya gotta do! Glad everyone had such a great time!
Maybe we can do some informal 'regional meetings sometime??? :grouphug; I would just love to meet some people, but I can't do either trip this year :rant;
-
It was great meeting all that came. Like Paris said, no uneasiness with everyone like a family reunion where you meet people you never met before. I wish I could go to Vegas also, but maybe next year if I can save money to afford hotel and airline cost, I could go. I will have to see how much I get off my fuel rebate in December.
They do remember what you post to, they got me a 7 day 4 event pill container with reminder alarms. :rofl;
-
I think regional meetings would be worth considering again, Lee. There just aren't a lot of active members in our area. Maybe Cincinnati, St.Louis, or Nashville.
-
Right on, FLip. That is what I consider regional. You said 'again'....has this been done or brought up before?
Flip, do you do any gardening? I have been making bread & butter pickles like crazy. If we all ever get together, I will bring you a jar. Yes, I am sure they are restricted, but 1 or 2 never hurt anybody! hehe
-
dill pickles are actually much worse than sweet pickles. I always put sweet pickle relish in my tuna.
-
When I showed my dietitian the two types of pickles that I bought to show her the ingredients, the sweet didn't contain much salt or potassium as the dill. She said that we couldn't have any pickles, so I had to prove her wrong.
-
:2thumbsup; Chris :2thumbsup;
-
yeah for regional...charlotte.
-
Sounds like the Chicago IHD meeting was really fun! Wish I could have been there! Chicago is, definitely, a destination I'd like to travel to! I enjoyed reading the posts, viewing the YouTube videos, and seeing the photos! Everyone looks sooooo nice and soooo friendly! :grouphug;
Will the Chicago meeting be an annual event every August? 2nd question: Is there a meeting in Las Vegas this October? Hope so, because I might be able to make it to that!!!
Sorry, if the answers are already posted elsewhere. I'm new ro the topic of the IHD meet-ups.
-
Duhhhh . . . I just noticed the Las Vegas 2008 thread! (my apologies for asking a question who's answer was right in front of me!) me: :urcrazy;

I guess we got out of town just in time! :bow;
Violent storms spawn tornadoes in Chicago area
Tuesday, August 5, 2008
By KAREN HAWKINS
CHICAGO (AP) -- Crews began cleaning up downed trees and restoring power across northern Illinois on Tuesday after a line of powerful storms ripped through the area, spawning at least two tornadoes.
The National Weather Service confirmed that tornadoes touched down in the Chicago suburbs of Bloomingdale and Bolingbrook late Monday. A third tornado touched down in Griffith, Ind.
A tornado and other high winds damaged 25 homes, including two left uninhabitable when winds ripped off parts of roofs, said Bolingbrook Assistant Fire Chief Robert Mierop. No one was injured.
Strong winds also damaged buildings and flooded streets across the northern part of the state late Monday, and lightning is being blamed for several fires.
Another line of thunderstorms left tens of thousands without power early Tuesday in north-central Illinois.
Parts of central and southern Illinois were under severe thunderstorm warnings Tuesday, and the weather service predicted more strong winds and the possibility of hail. Weather damage _ including standing water, downed tree limbs and blinking traffic lights _ snarled rush-hour traffic in the Chicago area.
More than 100 flights were canceled at O'Hare International Airport on Tuesday morning, according to aviation department spokesman Gregg Cunningham. He said airlines are catching up after last night's storms and delays are minor. A few flights are delayed about an hour at Midway.
Monday's storm prompted tornado warnings in downtown Chicago. Fans were evacuated from the stands at Chicago's Wrigley Field and travelers from the upper levels of terminals at O'Hare International Airport.
Storms were being blamed for one death Monday. In northwestern Indiana, a tree fell on a car and killed the 23-year-old driver, LaPorte County Deputy Coroner John Sullivan said.

Bolingbrook is the next town northeast of me. Use to live there and a tornado would do some good damage if it hit the landfill mountain. eww the smell :puke;
-
Yea Tinley Park didn't have any problems, but my friend who lives in Chicago has a flooded basement. Lots of trees down, just not by me.
-
Just heavy heavy rain, lots of tunder and lightning and a little hail. Got of Physical Therapy and home just in time. Started to rain as I pulled into the driveway and all heck broke loose once inside.
-
Heck broke loose when my mom was driving me from dialysis!
-
Weren't the IHD.com tornadoes in Chicago this past weekend?
-
I wish I had brought my karoke machine. We could have had some good stuff for Youtube.

-
Aharris is still in Chicago and going to Tommy Guns tonight. They asked if I would like to come, but couldn't due to physical therapy at 5 pm. Didn't help me staying up till 9 am and getting back up after 2 pm either. Still working on this computer crap. More security brings more pain in the :sir ken; setting up. The two laptops I have to do is giving the most trouble. What the instruction booklet is showing is not what my computer screen is showing, so have to find a work around to ger' done.
I need my pc back! Having withdrawls from the internet and I need the internet to plan for Vegas!
-
More Chicago pictures from tonight.
1st picture Rolando and Alene in front of Zanies Comedy Club
2nd Zanies Front
3rd All of us at O'Brien's Restaurant after show
-
It's great that you are able to spend more time with Alene and Rolondo, The purple leg wrap is for goofynina. That was way cool Rolondo. :bow;
-
You three look like you are having a great time. I wish I had stayed in Chicago!! Love the smiles in the last picture.
-
It was the alcohol I had that made me smile :rofl; :rofl;
Actually the show was good, one of the audience made me think of kitkatz with the way the comedian th the person where going back and forth. It was a riot. There was a group of people who took a bus to the club, they were th rowdy bunch :rofl;
-
What a wonderful time it must have been. Thanks for sharing it with us in the photos and videos. :clap;
-
I have been meaning to thank Paris for all her hard work making and procuring goodies for gift bags in Chicago! Thanks so much - your contribution is much appreciated! :bow;
-
Yes,
Thank You for the goody bag. I now have 3 women talking to me, unfortunately we dropped Mandy back off at the Mental Health Center. :rofl; :rofl; So now my watch and pill container talk to me. :urcrazy;
-
I have worn my purple bracelet ever since I got back. It seems like a part of me now. Thanks,Paris.
-
Karol gets a lot of credit too. She came with great stuff and together we were able to come up with some nice goodies. Chris, is the talking pill container driving you crazy? If so, I know of a good mental health care facility! :rofl; Karol and I were both fortunate to have some nice donations given to us. It was good for me to work on the event. Some days I need to know there is a purpose to get up!
Chris, if beer makes you smile like that, well, drink more beer :beer1; You have a wonderful smile. Of course, being with Alene and Rolando--you have to smile because they are always smiling.
-
Nope, she's not driving me nut's, just Mandy :rofl; :rofl;
I appreciate what everyone did who was involved.
And to Rolando and Alene, I appreciate them for taking me out. I offered to pay for things and Alene wouldn't let me. Glad we didn't buy gas in Chicago though, wow what a difference in price. A good time was had.
-
Thank you so much Okarol and Paris. Due to other commitments I was unable to help with much of the planning for this years get together and it was comforting to know that I could trust these two wonderful ladies with the entire planning. Without Paris or Okarol IHD would not be what it is today. Thank you to both for giving unselfishly of your time, money and friendship. :-* :grouphug;
-
Chris, sounds like Alene and Rolando took good care of you. It is amazing to meet IHD people in person and they are even more wonderful than you imagined. I am still on an "IHD" high!
Jess21, did you ever explain that you weren't micro-chipping dogs that weekend? :rofl;
Thanks everyone. It was truly my pleasure to be a part of the weekend. :grouphug;
-
Due to other commitments I was unable to help with much of the planning for this years get together
You did plenty Sluff, and you are greatly appreciated! Among other things, picking me up at the airport saved me time and money - thanks again! :cuddle;
-
The hotel was in a perfect spot. Lots of good restuarants close by. The staff was great. Especially "Bob" who helped late one night find an all night pharmacy. And the breakfast room gave us a place to start the day together. And the mental health facility was just around the corner. :rofl;
-
No Paris, I didn't. He didn't really ask me about the day I was gone, just if I had fun. He couldn't really be mad though, I was gone for one day, he's gone for 4 this weekend.
I got in my mom's car yesterday, since a guy fixing our front step was blocking the car I drive, and there was a purple feather. :rofl;
-
.... and there was a purple feather. :rofl;
:bandance;
-
I cannot find my boa since the dinner - :'( waaaaaaaa!!
-
You probably left it at the Mental Health Facility! :rofl; :rofl;
-
You probably left it at the Mental Health Facility! :rofl; :rofl;
Nooooooo! :urcrazy;
-
we... are back home...
we have been here for a bit more than a week, but it takes us awhile to recover
we will write more and post pictures (I think) soon
for now, we had a fantastic time and enjoyed meeting everyone
thanks to everyone who helped organize it
-
The pleasure was all mine Rolondo and Alene. It was a fantastic time and I'm glad you were part of it.
-
Alene and Rolando, it was such a pleasure meeting you both. You are two of the happiest, most easy going people I have met. Your smiles brighten the room. Sounds like you had a good time with Chris at the comedy club. I love hearing about your travels and adventures. And Rolando's neice and nephew were so much fun. They fit right in and seemed to have a good time, too. And the two little ones were precious. So glad they could all be with us. It was a really nice weekend.
-
It was really nice meeting you guys. Hope you don't get bad weather from the hurricaine.
-
Looks like a blast! I wish my "Fly anywhere Alaska Flies" (except Chicago or LasVegas) would have worked for me!
Everyone Looks Great!!!
-
I think regional meetings would be worth considering again, Lee. There just aren't a lot of active members in our area. Maybe Cincinnati, St.Louis, or Nashville.
YES! :bandance;
-
I would go to any of those cities. Lived in St.Louis and still have friends there. The river area is great. Cinncinnati would be good, too. Another river city that is nice. I love Nashville and we seem to have a lot of NC and Tennesee memebers. Heck, I will go just about anywhere there is a party. :rofl;
-
I love Nashville. :guitar:
-
ahh..i went past sleep inn the other day, I smiled. I went past the mental health center, I laughed. Today I went to the cracker barrel (since my boyfriend and his parents picked me up cause my car broke down in the school parking lot), and I smiled again!

Good for you, glad you could have some great memories despite your car breaking down. :grouphug;
-
This is the first time I have seen this post, I have no idea how I missed it....
It was amazing to see members of IHD, you all look like you have a great time. Seeing Flip was awesome also, I miss him and his posts...
One of these days I want to go to one of these, and if I say it enough , it will come true!
-
One of these days, Kim. Somewhere - somehow. :cuddle;
-
Then she'll be hooked.
-

I need to watch the video again. :rofl;

You forgot to say hi to Mandy? :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
And Cracker Barrel :rofl; :rofl; Gotta love the parade lap!
-
Oh my goodness! How long does it take to drive the long way from the hotel to Cracker Barrel? Strange thing, on the way back it only took two minutes! It makes me laugh just to think about it! That was a really good night. :grouphug;
-
The restaurant was just on a windy road connected to all the hotels. We went down the main road. I go where we turned around all the time for lunch and laugh at how much harder we really made the situation!
-
And then there were the two GPS's!
-
Better than my boyfriend's gps...it tries to kill him by attempting to send him head on into medians! :rofl;
-
:rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
-
1 year ago at this time, we were all hanging out at the meet!!!!! :grouphug;
-
Oh that was so much fun, Chris and Josh trading ring tones, Jess and her mom came to the hotel, we got so many people into my tiny little room, Flip was there... sweet memories. The mental health center, paris's birthday, Sluff dropped his phone in the toilet hahaha. Epofriend and AHarris driving on the lawn. It was a great time!
-
And my GPS has not been used in a long long time.
-
And my GPS has not been used in a long long time.
I took mine to Best Buy to get fixed finally..it turns out it was DOA, so since I had the replacement warranty on it, I got a brand new state of the art $400 model for freeeeee! :yahoo;
Bring on more road trips!
-
I'm planning on my next phone to have one that is low vision compatible, but the software cost $400 extra on top of a $400 phone with a screen reader and magnifyer. It'll be worth it though.
Heck, I got the insurance plan from AT&T, maybe I should just drop mine from the Hanncock building :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; Unfortunately I don't think they'll give me much for a Sony Ericsson W580i phone. :rofl;
-
I"ve been thinking about our Chicago meet up a lot the past three days. A lot has changed in a year. We lost Flip. Jess got a new kidney! Patton is in boot camp. Sluff is on the road again. Me, I am just a year older :rofl; Lots of good memories of a great time with friends.
