I may have overlooked this post but which motel? There is a large Holiday Inn and Convention Center right in Tinley Park.

Yes there is Flip, right off I-80, but that's not where we're meeting. I haven't looked at mapquest to see how far a distance it is from each other though.

A Northwest Side drive-in is turning 60 this week: SUPERDAWG

You can get whoopskidogs (that's a grilled polish with grilled onions in an onion roll) but the legendary Superdawg remains iconic. It's not Vienna Beef, like most other hot dog stands, but rather, a recipe of their own; and while the mustard, neon green relish, onions, pickles and sport peppers are consistent, you won't find red tomatoes here, but rather, the pickled green variety.

"We were much more interested, sincerely, much more interested in the product and what we were serving, rather than the profits, (which) would come later," said Maurie Berman, Superdawg.

In the summertime, the parking lot is full of cars, and people inside of them, happily munching on Superdawgs, whoopsie cheesys, thick shakes and krinkle fries.

Midway is closer to Tinely Park, but O'Hare has more service of flight companies. I have flown out of both and prefer O'Hare, but it also depends who has the cheapest fares also. Both have car rental agencies, but I know for sure O'Hare has van service to hotels

If I don't have anymore surgeries after this month, I could pick up a couple people during the day from O'Hare. Midway is possible, just have to find way there. I forgot how to get there once I am off the highway. Glad I have GPS ;D

*Takes a deep breath*
Actually, I go to school in Tinley Park.  According to mapquest, the hotel is 1.19 miles (3 mins) from my school. I just turn right, left, right and I'm there! ((Yay!))
Unfortunately, Friday is a dialysis day and it's back in my home town an hour away! ((booooooo))
Fortunatelly, this would be on the second to last week of the term I start in 2 weeks, which I am only taking one class because I failed it and can't take any more until I pass it, so I may have dialysis earlier still then normal 5-9 pm! ((Yay!))
Yet still driving (or my mom driving) down there after dialysis depending on the time and then back to my house again that same night wouldn't make much sense((booooo))
But if this is a friday-sat event, saturday could work for me.  :bandance; ((yay!))
I haven't read this whole thread yet(mostly because of it being 2am), but as for places to go, downtown chicago in general, the shedd aqaurium, and the zoos!  O my I love the zoos (well, I'm being a vet tech so I better love animals!  :) ).  But there's a train..it'd be about just less than 2 miles from that hotel, that goes into downtown chicago.  Believe me.  I used to take it everyday then walk to school.  Not too pricey either. :)

Are you going to school to become a vet tech?
If so, at JJC or at Parkland College downstate?
I was in the vet tech program at JJC and we went behind the scenes at Lincoln Park and Brookfield Zoo.
Knew I forgot something Wednesday when I went downtown, a train schedule for Tinley Park

Didn't hear about tat one.
Been going to school for a long time too, since Aug of 1999, then had to change majors. Miss working with animal though, even the farm ones that you bring home the smell. I was bullheaded enough to take 14 credit hours while on dialysis. I didn't mind it, kept me busy and running around, but healthwise, something would come up and require a hospital stay.

Good Luck
Oh, I have that link too, but for me it is easier to read the printed schedule from the train station, easier on the eyes.

My school is 12-20 credit hours depending on what term I'm on.  Just can't start before 8:10, can't end after 4.  Luckily, The one term so far that I had dialysis I have transfer credit from my last college so my school day wasn't that long.  However, I do have to redo a class cuase of doctor's appts and my mom's rotator cuff surgery, and my AV fistula surgery all happened in the same term, and I just missed too much.

I picked some more information up at the train station. I will scan it later tonight and post it. One of them is free things to do in Chicago this summer. Forgot what else I picked up yesterday.

Well the information that I picked up pretty much deals with getting around from Union Station, ie what buses to take). One was for a water taxi service. I picked up a brochure on the free trolley service, but there is also a web address that would be better than scanning it. It is www.CityChicago.org/Transportation/Trolleys
Hancock Observatory is open during the fireworks display which is at 10:15 on Saturday. www.877chicago.com is for tourist needs for planning a day in Chicago. Not sure if this was posted, www.millenniumpark.org
Music Festivals in Grant Park, www.grantparkmusicfestival.com  There is Lollapalooza going on August 3 - 5, but can't remember what day we are suppose to meet right now as I type.
