I was in Chicago two weeks ago and had a GREAT time...and lots of it cost nothing at all. We spent an entire morning at Millenium Park, checking out the big kidney (pictures to follow) and the cool fountain. Navy Pier is great...fireworks on Weds and Saturday nights that I recommend...window shopping on the Miracle Mile, or just hanging out in Wrigleyville on a game night.

I wish I could join you all, but I know you'll have a great time

Wish you could be there too!

That reminds me - we need to do a group photo at the "Bean" - the giant chrome kidney!

I like to do that. I'll have to Google where the train station is in relation to the restaurant or the hotel to see if it will be easy for me to navigate at night. I know I can drive on the highway to my house at night, but not familiar with that area is a concern (I do not trust 100% in my GPS unit, HP has not updated the maps in 2 years >:( :rant;)

Already been lost in that area a couple years ago, somehow found way home the back way instead of the highway.

Is there a dress code in the restaurant or is tee shirt and shorts okay? I'm not a dress up person anymore.

I think that would be fine. Looking at the website, people are wearing T-Shirts. I have never been to a dress up pizza joint.

Jill, I can't believe we missed you by a week!   Don't you go canoeing, camping next week?  Have a great time.  See you in Vegas??

Flip,  I think we are all at the casual stage of life now.  Even when I dress up, I am the most casual person in the room.  I am sure my husband will be in shorts and tennis shoes.

No worries about anything now.  Once we are together we will work everything out.  Like aharris2 said, we will stick together and make sure everyone is having a great time.  We are family, right?  I am starting to get excited now. :2thumbsup;

Okarol, I was looking through the old posts and I really like the sunset cruise you posted about.  Sounds like it would be beautiful views of Chicago.   :thumbup;

All day parking at Navy Pier for Friday or Saturday is $23.   Fireworks at the Pier are at 10:15.   My family enjoyed the beer garden, sipping drinks and listening to the bands.   It is 1:30 am and I can't sleep, again, so here I am researching.   :urcrazy;

Yes, we have our annual canoe weekend next week, which is something we look forward to every year!
I have not yet committed to Vegas, but haven't ruled it out either. I have been to Vegas twice in the last year and both times the trip wiped me out. However, my desire to see everyone is so strong that there is a good chance we'll be there!

If I have my truck, I can't drive on Lake Shore Drive to get to Navy Pier. Vehicles with truck plates will be ticketed if caught on Lake Shore Drive. It's a stupid old old law they never took off. Do not want o take the chance and get a Chicago Cop with an attitude. If I can get my vehicle in the repair shop, then I might have a rental car at the time. I just hate city traffic though, Country Boy at heart (not the music though :rofl;)
