Tubes, what the heck do you do with Gizzards....lol

I found this slow cooker down in the bottom of  my cabinet.  No idea how long it has been there but it looks new.  I'm going to try and cook something in it.  There are no instructions or recipe books with it though.  Google, get ready to help me cook.

There are thousands of recipes for the slow cooker if you google.  Really difficult to burn things in the slow cooker dan!!!

Think I am going to make mac and cheese for supper - the homemade stuff.  Will have fresh rolls with it.

         Dan hope the clow cooking goes well.  We call it a crock pot back where I am from. 

        Tubes, I haven't had chicken gizzards since I ws a kid.  Sorry but I didn;t like them then either.  :puke;  And we had to get them the old fashioned way, kill your own chickens.  Ever try to catch a chicken?   :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

         Tonight we are having beef stew, provided we still have electricty.   :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;   If not it will be ham and hard salami on rye bread.     :rofl;

Just this minute got an invitation to an early dinner (supper).  It's a late Christmas tradition ... oh well, at least I still have the tree up for when they come pick me up.

I love gizzards but haven't made them in a long time since my husband thinks he doesn't like them.  I used to make them for my mother-in-law and me.  I cut out the tough connective tissue bits, so each one gives 3 pieces, than saute with onions and garlic, add spices (whatever I feel like that day) a cooking liquid (white wine or chicken stock or just water), some worstershire sauce.   Then cover partially and let them stew down until they're very tender and the liquid reduces to more of a sauce.  Nice with Jamaican rice and peas.


Tonight, at husband's request, I'm making the 13 bean stew with carrots, onion, pancetta, roasted fennel, garlic, spices and salsa.  I top it with thick, garlicky yogurt. We ate this all last week and I'd give it a rest but he loved it with the quinoa pilaf so this week I'll make him wish he hadn't requested it again so soon.

They're actually pretty good but I didn't llike these ones. There was this small grocery store I worked at in Kansas. I made fried gizzards there and they were so good. That was the first time I ever had a gizzard. They also had really good fried chicken. *mouth waters*

I think I'm going to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner tonight.  ;D

Nope the real stuff where you have to grate cheese and stuff.  It was delicious!!  Took it to sister in law's to share with them and she had fresh homemade bread. Yummy. And a coconut cream pie for dessert.

      Tried to get the wife to go to Hooters on the way home from dialysis today. But she just said "They probably aren't open, and you're crazy!" That I am   :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;   Looks like left over beef stew.   :2thumbsup;

How long does it take to cook a beef roast with potatoes, etc?  If it isn't all that long I might have it for supper.   Otherwise peanut butter, crackers and blackberry  cobbler ice cream from blue bell.

Mildly curried Lamb stew, with stewed eggplant, sweet potatoes, zucchini, onions, garlic, ginger, spices and leftover bean stew...served over baked mushroom barley pilaf with lots of parsley and fresh cilantro garnish.

No idea for tonight - for me probably more pasta or something equally quick. The boys will probably have salmon since we have a supply of it in the freezer, all marinated and ready for cooking. My kids love salmon, which is incomprehensible to me. Even before I turned vegetarian, I hated, hated, hated salmon. My mother was born and raised in Alaska, and couldn't grasp this concept. She hoped we'd all agree to live off the stuff. I think I was around 25 when I finally grabbed her one day and said "Mother, I don't like salmon. Try to accept that."

My sister once snapped at me that I couldn't call myself a vegetarian if I didn't like salmon.  ??? :urcrazy;

Bowling tonight... so, I will make something light. Maybe a sandwich and an apple and yogurt before I leave. A granola bar and lots of water while I am there, and maybe a piece of cheese and an apple when I get home tonight before bed.

Home made tacos......  I love those.....     but I am thinking now after what Cariad had to say .... I am going to thaw out some Salmon too.......  I have alot in the freezer  and I need to start making room for more.....

We are having a traditional Newfoundland meal - salted dried cod fish, brewis ( a hard bread or biscuit that is soaked overnight) and boiled potatoes.  I make a sauce wth onions and butter to go over it.  It is yummy!!

Wheat thins makes a tuscan herb flatbread cracker.  I've been topping those with a thin slice of turkey, chopped onion and black olive, and topping it all with shaved swiss cheese, then toasting it all in the toaster oven.  Yummy!

Lol. I could eat chicken or fish every single day of my life and be happy.  8)

In fact, tonight I am having chicken.

Last night I had pot roast. Put the roast, potatoes, and carrots in the crockpot in the morning and was ready to eat with a salad that night. Yummy.
