I had to laugh at this, Cariad!

There were lots very smiling faces among the parents in the drop off line this morning!

We actually had a pretty good day today. I'm pooped, though.  :cheer:

I forgot to post a really nice positive.  I have a little girl in my class who was adopted from Ethiopia. She brought me a gift today - a beautiful scarf like they wear in Ethiopia!! It is a beautiful color green. Her sister in Grade 1 (who was also adopted from Ethiopia) brought her teacher one as well!!

Glad you had a good day, Aleta. Try to grab some extra rest (I know, easier said....)

Del, I love learning about and seeing bits of African culture. Your scarf sounds fantastic.  :pics;

Finally warmed up enough that I could get my pipes to thaw. Hurray, I don't have to run next door to take a shower today!  The access panel to the crawl space is frozen shut, so I added the only available insulation to the outside wall where the pipes are freezing - I shoveled snow as high up the wall as I could pile it.  I'm warm from shoveling - I hope the pipes are warmer, too!

My positive for today is that I get to go back into my own classroom tomorrow. I have enjoyed working with the younger children, but BOY do I miss my own class! We have been so short-handed lately and another staff person had to leave early today so his wife could go to the doctor without taking the twin babies. So I went outside with "my" kids. You would have thought I had been away for a month.  :2thumbsup;

Well, come to think of it, I haven't been in the classroom with them since Dec 16, so it has been a while!  :rofl;

Mizar, even with my new ankle-length down coat, standing on the playground these days can be very chilling. I hear you about going shopping!

It is a long stretch from 2 months ago when I had to relearn how to walk!  I got a letter today from the Physical Therapy department, wondering why I hadn't scheduled another appointment. Well, duh - because I got better!

Love it!

When we got home tonight I had the sweetest letter from my granddaughter. Don't know whether to smile or cry. I miss her so much and it has only been a little more than a week.

Hubby started to clean out his mother's bedroom today. What a mess!!!  We have taken at least 6 big bags of garbage out of it already and don't have it half done!!  She had stuff poked everywhere!!!  She is 81 and has gotten very forgetful.  When I got home this afternoon I helped him - think he was sick of his mother not wanting to throw out anything. She fell asleep in the living room after supper so we went to work!!  She won't miss a thing. I even found a lot of jewelry that she had tucked away so hubby is going to sort it all out and put it in her jewelry boxes!!  It even looks good now to look in her closet!!  Feels good when things start to look clean.

Today was a pretty stressful day on the crisis line - a lot of regular callers had meltdowns on my shift, and I was the only volunteer there. I did have one moment that was nice. There is this certain alcoholic that calls occasionally and he has been told by his doctor that he could die very suddenly if he keeps drinking. When I told him our time was up and asked what he was going to do after our call, he said he was going to go drink some liquor he had just purchased. I remembered a piece of advice from one of my mentors in LA and did not try to talk him out of this. I did stay on the phone with the caller an extra 10 minutes, and eventually he talked himself into pouring the alcohol down the drain.

Michael (mentor) left LA before I did. Wherever you are tonight, Michael, thanks.

First is yesterday was me and my boyfriend Shawn's 8 year anniversary. We have been going through a really hard couple of months but he woke me up with a card, prezzie and loads of balloons with 8 on them! We then went to the beach for lunch, the cinema in the afternoon and then a meal in the evening. We didn't talk about d all day and it lovely!

Secondly I should be at school today but it is shut because of the snow! Yippee!!!!!!!!!! :bandance;

After last night episode with the "other" thread, I too am having a hard time finding a positive this morning.  Going to dialysis shortly?  No!  Gain too much weight?  No!

Well how about I'd got the good friend over in S. Africa named Des who has the weirdest last name you ever did hear.  Yep, that'll work for today.  Fell better Des.

My grandson called me last night all excited about the book I gave him for Christmas.  (everyone gets new books from Nana).  It is a series about a family who are dog rescue foster parents.  I picked this one because it was about a golden lab and Zeke just got a chocolate lab a few months ago.  What I didn't know was in the book, there is a boy named Zeke who has a chocolate lab!!   He was so excited and his Mom said it is his favorite book.  He even took it to school to read in his free time.  Nothing better than a second grader who loves to read.  Think I will have to go to the book store and buy more in that series!    That is my positive today   :2thumbsup;

Paris, if he likes dog stories, you might want to try the Hank, The Cowdog series by John Erickson. They are a hoot. During that 16 hour drive from Massachusetts I read the whole first book to my granddaughter. She loved it. There are a jillion of them and they are all funny.
