I didn't get to go to the party. I went to sleep listening to "All shook up" (not really but I fell asleep). I hear they was a "good time had by all" and maybe some more than others. In my book, fun is always positive.

I had a good sleep at D last night. I also went out to lunch with my sister and Mom to celebrate Mom's birthday. A nice day.

Ding dong, the mouse is dead! I caught one in my trap last night. Now, the real question is - how many little friends does he have?
I showed the dead mouse to my cat, trying to remind her what she's supposed to be doing with them. She's all wound up now, racing up and down the hall. Yeah, like running through the house sounding like a herd of elephants is going to help her catch one!

I got on with life after my car accident yesterday.
My son had a soccer game and he is the smallest one out there (he is 7, but playing with kids 8 and 9). One of our friends - the mother of another player - described my son as "fearless" on the field, telling him he was taking on and tackling kids a good 18 inches taller than he is. Then we went out to lunch with this other family, and they offered to take my older son out ice-skating. He has never tried this before, and apparently he did really well. This family has been so supportive of us as we get close to a transplant, and they always ask about the trial. We are lucky to know them.

I bought two more boxes for the collection today. I also found a lovely jewelry chest, it has photo areas on the front ad can be hung on the wall like a medicine cabinet. Me and my boxes.

The temperature got above freezing today! Also, I actually made it home from work in 20 minutes today - that's a record!
Usually it takes me anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour and a half.

Sent a big check to my credit card today. All that time in the hospital and away from home sure saves on things like heat, electric, gas for the car, etc. (Not eating for 2 months saves on groceries, too.) I sent all the extra to Mastercard, and paid more than half my balance off.
I haven't used it ages, so hopefully I can keep plugging away at the rest and cancel the darn thing by the end of the year.

I had so much energy today I was dancing around the kitchen as I cooked dinner and started sliding around on the floor pretending to be speed skating in the upcoming winter olympics. Haha, I can't skate on ice at all so there's a pure fantasy. Lee was laughing at me, in a good way, and commented on the difference between this January and last January.
Dinner also seems to have turned out well. My quinoa pilaf with black beans, dried fruit, mushrooms, ginger, garlic, onions, and topped with pomegranate seeds, cilantro and green onions is delicious. I almost felt guilty for how joyful I felt today. Almost.

Today is my birthday, and I think all I want is some of monrein's quinoa....
Speaking of ice skating, my older son had his first lesson last night and did well considering it was only his second time ever on skates.
My husband spent half the day with me, we went out to lunch (french fry craving satisfied
) and then grabbed some films at the library. We will watch Frost/Nixon tonight.

Ahhh, nothing like the feeling of speeding across the ice... They have open skating at the local rink this weekend, but I have to wait until I get my surgical wound closed before I risk landing on my butt. (I like it - I never said I was good at it! I can manage forwards, backwards, and stopping before I hit the wall - that's about it.)
I managed a whole mile on my treadmill for the first time since I've been home. A nice easy walking pace, too, at 2 miles an hour. Many little steps make the distance, and not only on the treadmill!

I love this thread.
Tyefly, my positive is much like yours.... When we walked out to the car to go home tonight I realized that it was still light. I'm so glad to be past the part of winter that we leave home in the morning and arrive back at night in the dark! I celebrate the coming of the light!
