Today's positive - finally figured out what the mysterious, random thumping noise is that's been coming from the kitchen.

And I finally lost the last half pound to get me to an even 50 pounds lost.   :bandance;  60 here I come!

It is a beautiful day but toooo hot for me. It is 82 (28 celcius) and humid!!  Not hot for you Texans but hot for Newfoundland. There is not even a cool breeze. I am setting in front of the air conditioner and thinking of going for a boat ride after supper to get a cool off.  Last night was beautiful on the water.  There was not a breeze. The water was so calm it looked like you could walk on it. Then a beautiful full  yellow moon rose and made beautiful scenery on the water. sorry dw I forgot my camera or I would have taken a pic for you!!!  I am so lucky to live in a part of the world that is so peaceful!!

Accompanied my neighbour to the nursery today to pick out a tree for her front yard.  We settled on a beautiful katsura tree (cercidiphyllum japonica), already a good size and they'll be coming soon to plant it.  This is one of my favorite trees, possibly my all time fave, and I'm excited that I get to admire another one so close by.

We're also working on picking out a small tree for her backyard and a large shrub for her back border.

Huge congratulations Jbeany!  :clap; :2thumbsup; :clap; :2thumbsup;

That is awesome! That makes my 8 pounds look pitiful, but you are an inspiration!  :bow;

Looking forward to a nice "swim" as soon as I get Carl hooked up tonight.

thx, Hanify.

I'm shooting for 15 by the end of September, but at this rate (barring a bad plateau) maybe I'll reach 20 pounds!  :2thumbsup;

Small steps. But Jbeany, you are STILL an inspiration.

I agree with Hanify - 8 pounds is great - heck, any pounds at all is wonderful!  And the 50 pounds has been a nearly 3 year fight, so it's not like I did it overnight!

All the studies I've read say that something as small as a 5% weight reduction has massive benefits for your health.  Little amounts give big positives!

jbeany I have always heard that the faster you lose weight the easier it is to regain it.  When you lose slow it means you have changed your lifestyle and are more apt to keep the weight off. Congrats on losing the 50 lbs and aleta  :thumbup; for losing the 8 lbs!!  I have regained 5 lbs in the past 3 weeks so I have to start getting serious again - so easy to eat ice cream in the middle of the summer!!

I have another positive - we went fishing again tonight (I added some new pics).  It was beautiful and we caught our quota of 5 fish each. I lost the biggest one that I had on my hook though - almost broke off my rod!!

My son Aidan had a great birthday yesterday. He spent most of the day on a school cave exploration trip. Even though I have always told him that I will never allow a video game system in my home, my husband and I discussed the issue to death and broke down and got him a wii. I wanted something gianormous to distract him (and his brother) from the fact that his parents are going to be undergoing major surgery in 2 months.

For today, my husband called from work to say he's been offerred a major position at his company. He is a contractor there, and we always knew he would be taken on full-time, but a company-saving funding source just came through, and the company owner wants to use some of it to take on another struggling company. My husband would basically be a department director. He will have to re-negotiate salary and benefits (and the owner must get health insurance in place or forget it) but this is a great opportunity for him. He is really appreciated at this company, and he deserves it.  :cheer:

That's great news, Cariad.

My positive is that I did 50 minutes of strenuous pool exercise for two days in a row, even after being in the classroom for 10 hours each day. I have really worried that I'll just cave in and not exercise with school starting because my schedule is just horrendous this year. But I"m off to a good start!

AND we are taking Monday night off from dialysis to go to a birthday party.  :2thumbsup;

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

I had a lazy Saturday. I was up late around 10:30a.m.  Then napped for a few more hours.  Relaxed now and up late.

This weekend's positives - a house with no cobwebs, that's completely vacuumed and scrubbed from top to bottom.  I even got on my hands and knees and scrubbed the kitchen floor.  Now I can ignore it all for a while!

Getting the heck out of town.

« Reply #897 on: August 10, 2009, 06:08:05 PM »

Few weeks ago I got a letter from  IRS that I'd failed to sign my tax return.  Thought it dumb to do all that since they already  had cashed my check.  Today I get a 540 dollar Refund 'cause I made an error and overpaid.  Is that cool?  What can I buy?
