It's been awhile, so I'll share several days' worth...

Yesterday (Thurs) I went to see Breakfast at Tiffany's at a historic moviehouse with my mom. It's her favorite movie and the girl's night out was a lot of fun.

Me, my husband and my son are going to a drive in movie tomorrow night. I've never been to a drive-in.

A week from next Tuesday I get to meet my eleven month old nephew for the first time. So excited!!!!!

my daughter is coming in from California for three weeks and she is having her first baby in Nov-

I shipped my younger daughter's bedding and towels and stuff to the dorm at the college she will attend soon in NY!

Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.

We got to move all our dialysis equipment back home last night. I will be so glad to be able to do the treatments in our own environment again. And not have to manage it during breaks from lecturing.  :2thumbsup;

As of yesterday I am finished with my medical tests to qualify for this transplant. I had a nice, long talk with my GP yesterday. He and I get on really well, and I always feel much calmer after talking to him. He is every bit as cynical about the field of medicine as I am!

Today we had a nice walk to our local farmer's market, with my older son on his Razor scooter and my younger son on his trike.

Wow, no one has had anything positive to report in over a week?!

Today we went to the zoo and fed the giraffes. It normally sells out really early, so we lucked out.

The zookeeper brought the group of 16 into the area to feed the giraffes. Once we were there, they let the families with toddlers (that would be us) go first. First we watched as a mom and her little girl fed the giraffes. The little girl was adorable - jumping up and down, laughing, and pretty much ignoring the giraffes, just so excited to see 14 people cheering for her.

Then it was our turn. A woman asked my husband if he wanted her to use our camcorder to film us, so my husband handed off the camera and we helped our two kids feed the giraffes (there is a technique!) I very quickly gave up on feeding the animals myself, since my kids were so excited that I preferred to just hand them bits of cracker and leaves and let the giraffes lick them instead of me. When we were finished and started walking away, my younger son, in typical form, turned to the zookeeper and said "I'm not done yet."

In the car, my three year old summed up the afternoon for us: "We got to feed the giraffes, we got to see the elephants, we got to wash our hands. We had a great time."  :cheer:

Del, I thought of you while I was in the pool tonight.

The rain this morning cleared the air and it was crystal clear. The pool was perfect. We had done a really thorough cleaning job on it and I love it when it's like that. The water temp was perfect - 89 degrees. While I was exercising I just soaked in all the beauty around me. We had cut down a butterfly bush that was shedding flowers into the pool and my view was wide open.

Then, a wind-up bug (cicada) started its loud buzz. It was the quintessential summer evening. The only down side was thinking that school starts tomorrow. but even that could not dull the peacefulness of the evening.

I have often said to my husband that I simply can't explain that even with doing a strenuous workout in the water, the time in the pool just restores my soul.

This evening, something minor happened that under "usual" circumstances would have thrown me into a blue funk. I think the daily pool time has sent my underlying depression into hiding. I will have to find a substitute when pool season is over. but until then, positive!

And why did I think of you, Del? Because I pass my hostas on the way to the pool.  :2thumbsup;

Have started back walking now with my big, black, DarthVaderesque fracture boot in tow.  I lumber along, not so much getting exercise but simply keeping things, like blood, circulating.  Can't drive but the positive is that I can at least lumber to the store.

A friend of mind had surgery for kidney cancer yesterday.  Got the news tonight that she is now cancer free!!!  No treatments needed. She is minus a kidney and a spleen but she will be fine!!!  :thumbup;

We have just had work days for the past two days. It took me a good part of yesterday and half of today just trying to get a new employee fingerprinted. The good news is that I finally got it done! I really dislike all sorts of bureaucracy!

The new students come in tomorrow for 45 minutes orientation visits and we are up and rolling on Thursday. Even with the fingerprinting snafu, things are pretty much ready.

Woo Hoo.

Couldn't swim tonight because another huge storm came through, but I'm okay with it. Dialysis almost over for the day.

Take care of that ankle Gail!

Ok Houston folks...There is already an extreme heat warning out from 11 AM till 7 PM tomorrow.  Nobody can go to dialysis I think.

I have a little energy today, I'm trying to decide what to do with the boy. Dave and Buster's or the aquarium. the aquarium has a hands on exhibit where he can feed the penguins.
