Really great daily positive - just got back from visiting daughter = whirlwind trip for the weekend to pick out wedding dress.  She moved her wedding up from next May to this September - luck would have it we found a dress.  Great weekend overall.

I just got home from a really nice gathering in celebration of my new kidney, organized by two close friends.  Eight people, a gorgeous day, lovely backyard grotto type pool, delicious and heathy food and a ton of good wishes.  I feel lucky today but I feel that way pretty much every day and take nothing for granted.

My Spanish tutor, for some sadistic reason, assigned me the task of writing a poem in Spanish for our session tomorrow.

I am terrible at poetry (in English - I can only assume that Spanish would exacerbate the problem). I once read that Samuel Beckett used to write plays in foreign languages because he found it more challenging to find the right word.

So, I gave it a go. No, it isn't any good.... but it is finished.  :clap;

The Spanish word for challenge is 'reto'.

Come on Cariad!  Share the poem.  We'll see if we can tell what it's saying.

I got to sleep in until the meow purr of the Siamese awoke me and the phone rang this morning.

Today's positive - Grandma was reasonable and actually agreed to keeping her overnight home aide coming for a bit longer, in spite of the cost.  I feel better knowing someone is with her all night.

Oh, Hanify, it is sweet of you to encourage me. I am quite sure I could not take the embarrassment! Maybe after I get feedback from my tutor.... (assuming she does not quit in despair after reading it!)  :rofl;

Whoo- hoo!  Sitting here in a puddle of sweat - it's finally warm enough to work up a good drenching sweat while I'm on the treadmill. I don't know how, exactly, I became an exercise geek who couldn't wait to get sweaty, but I'm hoping it stays with me.  Losing fluid gain is my primary goal, but the thinner me who doesn't puff up and down steps is a nice bonus, too!

My ex father in law came by tonight and hooked up my roof top antenna to a proper pole, which elevated it about 6 more feet, and gained me about 6 more channels then the 3 I had.  I'm watching a lovely documentary about Clovis points on my newly acquired PBS station.  Hurray for TV that requires more than 2 IQ points to watch!

My husband sauteed kale from our CSA (community supported agriculture) share tonight, and it was really nice. Kale is one of those vegetables that is a CSA staple, so we wanted to find a quick and easy way to make it edible. Mission accomplished!  :cheer:

Had a wonderful day with my son.  we went to a local amusement park, and then I went in the pool with him.  I haven't been in the pool in two years!  now that I don't have the catheter anymore, I can go in.

May not be a positive tomorrow but it is now.  We're going to try the fistula again tomorrow.  Positive part is if we make it work this time then maybe I can start counting down 2 weeks before removing these annoying tubes.  Wouldn't a real and complete shower feel good?

I'm hoping your fistula works this time, Dan.

Del, a trip sounds wonderful. My daughter was supposed to be here yesterday and I so looked forward to just a bit of time with her, but she forgot to take her wallet to the airport and they wouldn't let her on the plane of course. I haven't been able to come up with a positive for today except that I'm ready for next week. I'll take that, I guess.

I saw my friend who is in the hospital with fistula infection.  We stayed for three hours.  Played cards and talked.  Good to see her improving. She will be out tomorrow! We hope!

I thought you got infection from catheter... you get it from fistula too?  That's not good news.

You have a higher risk of getting it from a catheter.  But you can get a infection from just about anything.  It sucks.

Talked with my daughter on the phone this evening and my 1 year old granddaughter heard my voice and smiled and started saying, "Grandmom," and "Granddad." Talked with my older granddaughter, too. Sure miss those little girls, but it was good to hear them.

I had a student from 5 years ago come visit me in my classroom today while I was cursing at stubborn staplers. I working on the room decor.   She told me that I had made a difference in her life and now she gets in trouble for reading library books in class. All because I gave her the book Tuck Everlasting and believed in her!  She stayed for about an hour and we talked about her life, brother, and students we both knew.  She is now in 11th grade!  It is very rare someone comes back and says "Hey you made a difference to me!"

I feel like a REAL teacher!  :clap; :bandance; :bandance; :clap;
