Ok I have not sent my gift out yet but I was so excited to see that I got a gift box today!! Wooo Hooo!!
It's even gift wrapped on the outside and it says "IHD.com SECRET SANTA" so now I couldn't even accidentally open it!!

This thread is making me sad, sad, sad. I signed up for SS, but when I was banned on Oct 10 for 30 days, Sluff said I couldn't participate this year. :'( :'( And I enjoyed it so much last year. :'( :'(

I will mail mine to "THE MID-WEST, USA" tomorrow. Just got done wrapping every single little item (well except two). I had to wait until I got my Christmas Cards which has a picture of me and my 2 Min Pins. They are the only ones on IHD getting the covited Christmas Card.

Hubby and I haven't received anything yet either but it's a long time before Christmas yet!!! but I said up front that I'd figure it out and that I would not open it (as if I could with a whole roll of tape around it). Still working...I know that Mark, Kitkatz and Jean all live near each other. Jean would have told...Kit would have traded names, so that leaves you know who.
I hope it is a fire engine. Pre school I went with my dad to my uncle's hardware store -- just browsing. There were not toy stores in this little one horse town in Missouri so my uncle had a beautiful shiny fire engine on the top shelf (it was a toy like kids get inside and peddle and so red). I wanted it. It was very poor and lean days and my dad said no. I picked up a hammer from a display and threw it at him. He picked up me and beat my "avitar", then handed me the hammer and said, Ok young man, throw it again. Well, being the obiedient child that I was... guess what I did. And he beat my butt again (where was child protection when I was a kid?)
End result, I didn't get the fire engine that year. or the year after. even when times got better and we weren't so poor I kept asking for the fire engine. I never got a fire engine. Ever. Electric trains, bicycles, etc. But no fire engine. Someday I'll get one. Could be this year!
But then someday after Christmas, I'll tell what he did give me the Christmas after he died. Can't think about that now.

I had always wanted a little red wagon and never got one. My first born, when he was just 3 months old, got that little red wagon for Christmas. He is now 18 years old. I use the wagon every Saturday during football season to carry the chairs, easy up and water. I also use it on camping trips to haul the gear in.

I loved my little red wagon too. My Papa (granddaddy Crawford) got me a goat and harnessed him up to pull me around. I've got the picture and I love it. Mother said I couldn't have the goat but Papa was the boss. Billy ate the clothes from the clothes line and everything else he could. One year he ran away just about Christmas time (or so I was told). Mom had made tamales out of him. We ate ole Bill! Now that was sad. :'(

dw we had very little money when I was growing up. I never ever had a Barbie doll!!! I wanted one really bad but Christmas gifts were usually clothes that you needed never toys!! Will I told my husband this story - must have been in 1999. We were watching tv one night and they advertised Barbie's. I said I had never ever had one . Guess what was under the tree that year?? A 2000 Holiday Barbie. I knew nothing about it until I opened it. What a surprise - I hadn't even realized he was listening to me!! Every year since he has given me a holiday Barbie!!! When My Oldest Daughter was little, She always, wanted a " Kenner Give-A-Show Projecter " I thought that was a waste of Money.
Now She is 43, has a Large Flat Screen TV, a Blu-Ray DVD Player and all the Bells and Whistles, to go with it. She is 43 now. Probably, too late to give the, " Give-A-Show Projector" I still think about that. Time goes by Quick, Folks, do what You need to do now!

My son-in-law thought he could go to Target or Walmart and pick up a jello mold like his mothers. After going to store after store last year, he finally described to me what he was looking for. It is the vintage Tupperware mold with interchangable holiday center. I went to Ebay, found one with all the holiday parts and got it for Christmas. The look on his face was priceless! He couldn't believe someone would go to all that trouble to find something for him. It was probably the cheapest gift I bought last year, but the one I got the most pleasure from. He made black cherry jello for Thanksgiving. It isn't the expense, it is the thought, truly.
I now know Del is much younger than me because Barbie wasn't out when I was young! :rofl; I think your husband has a heart of gold! Sweet story!

I did have one of those and a viewmaster (remember those!!) that ran on batteries. It worked really good in the dark!!! My Grandmother gave me both!! Thought I had my fortune when I got my viewmaster. I was about 6 or 7 when I got it.

Oh my, I agree that all involved should put the issue behind us and do what we can for a successful and happy holiday. I think many people are doing that. Let us not forget, however, that there was a lot of hurt hurled upon people during the episode. This is just a suggestion but wouldn't it be really great if the two people most involved would have a one on one conversation just to show that all can be forgiven and possibly, in time, forgotten.
I for one want to have a great holiday, but old man depression is trying really hard to creep in.
I hope you get lots more SS gifts Petey. You've had more than any human should have to bear in the past few weeks.

Karol, I didn't mean to offend Sluff and didn't mean to "rehash" all that went on before. Simply wanted to be a part of IHD again and participate in its goings-on. Just wanted to say that I still felt like one of you. I apologize if it came across any other way. Of course Sluff is not a grinch! ...and of course I'm lucky.

My gift had to travel quite a distance, but thanks to USPS online tracking, I know it is almost there! It is like having Santa on radar and figuring out when he will be at your house. :rofl; So, if you haven't gotten your gift yet, I know of at least one that will be there shortly :2thumbsup;

Okay, I admit that I was getting a little worried. Then my package arrived. :2thumbsup;
Like so many others I had to grapple with the decision of whether or not to open the outside box. The package is meticulously taped, so doing anything to disrupt the perfection was a little disconcerting. I gave in and after very carefully slitting the tape, I peeked in one end. I saw an envelope with the words "Start Here." I then decided to leave well enough alone. I want to be surprised on Christmas morning. :clap;

My box sits untouched next to my computer since received. My children offered to open the outside box and check if what is inside is wrapped. If it is not, then they would wrap it. I might let them do that on Christmas eve.

my package keeps moving around the tree..... I dont understand..... I have not touched it..... but I have been keeping tract and Yes its moving from the back of the tree to the front....... I finally know what is happening....... its my daughter Sara.... ( who is 24 ) she is more excited about this gift and has been trying to figure out who and what it is..... she even took the time to try to find out who sent it from the town that was on the package.... she spent alot of time on IHD trying to find eveyone who lived in that state..... I received my package a few weeks back but didn't know this thread was here. So thank you secret santa.
I promise I won't open it until Chirstmas day (as stated on the package)!! I didn't realize people waited to Christmas day to open them but I was saving mine anyway because its probably the only present I'll get. I was bad this year!!!!!

I received another package from secret santa.......Sara (my daughter ) works at the UPS store where we have our mail sent and she brought it home all excited again...... The package said....
GO AHEAD....AND OPEN THIS ONE......
So I asked Sara....should I open this one.... should I...... she looked at me with serious big brown eyes and then she looked at the package and then back at me and with a long long pause...she said... OPEN IT...... yes open it.....it says to open.......... quickly....... so we both opened the package and we found boxes of chocolate...Each piece is decorated with different patterns and they are beautiful..... We both looked at each other and then the chocolate......( I already had my eye on the piece that I wanted ) and we both grabbed one..... we just sat there and looked at each other and chewed and chewed...... I know we both felt like kids again...... Sara suggested that we both have one each day until Christmas......
Thank you secret santa...... for a gift that we could open early..... I still have the other gift that I am saving to open on Christmas....... I got to open early.....ha ha ha........... :cheer: ha ha ha....... :cheer:

I turned hubby's gift over and now I know from the return address who it is from. Thanks!!! He will not even open the envelope until Christmas morning. Now I have to get my tree up so I can put the gifts under it!! Have to bring the tree in from the shed tonight. Forecast is 20 - 40 cm of snow tonight and tomorrow!!!

I got mine a while ago. Thanks Santa. I had trouble trying to ship mine. The one place I went had it almost ready to go then informed me they didn't do international. So mine was mailed by the post office. It hopefully will get there this week or between Christmas and New Years. To the person that gets my gift, I love you and sorry for the delay.

Had I put something illicit into it???... I was waiting for the gift to be returned to me, when it showed as 'Delivered To Addressee'... I used the Tracking Label on both Mum's gift, and mine... Worked well with mine... Gave me a dreadful scare with Mum's... Thankfully the gift arrived safely, but I'm STILL getting wrong information on the Post Office's website!...
So even if you DO track it, the information may be wrong... That's why it's SO important that when we receive a gift that we post it here!...
Oh well, there are still a few days to go... We can hope... And even if they don't arrive on time, it's not the end of the world... They'll turn up eventually!...

Secret Santa did not put his name inside. It must have been the REAL Santa though cause nobody else would have known the perfect gift for me. I'd been wanting the Ronan Tynan Christmas Album and Santa sent it. And a big bag that said "coal" on it (Santa must be a jokster) but actually had a bag of black jelly beans (my favorite kind). How could anyone but the REAL Santa have known that?
But in case it was one of his elves and some one knows who it was, please give them a big thank you for me.

Added bonus: She included a book. Genesis of the Artificial Kidney. Here is the very cool thing about it. She signed the inside cover and asked that after I read it I send to another IHD member for them to read and pass on to another member to read and...you get the point. What a wonderful idea. The return address is humorous as I posted earlier, the Christmas card, and writing on one package that said it is ok to OPEN NOW! :rofl; :rofl; I was given a box of Samoas and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies :2thumbsup; :yahoo;, a bag of mixed pretzel and graham crackers covered in caramel and chocolate,. For stocking stuffers in mini socks, 2 Bailey's Irish Cream bottles (Airplane Size), a keychain of a car, a Lotto Ticket, a $20.00 Starbucks card, and a shot glass from Atlantic City.
My Secret Santa went overboard on me. I appreciate it and would have been happy with just the cookie or cookies or the chocolate mix. :2thumbsup; I'd send a humorous Thank You card, but there's no address or name given.

Thanks so much to Rolando for my secret santa assortment of goodies. Love the fridge magnet manatee and turtle, the hatching turtle eggs and have never had a magnetic bookmark ever before. What a cool idea. Secret Santa is such a nice thing.

I got very much a taste of Colorado! A calendar with beautiful scenic vistas, a magnetic bookmark...which I will use daily, just several items to make me want to visit Colorado even more than I already did.
It was so nice to open the gift this morning and to feel excitement I haven't felt since childhood....so cool.

I just opened my gift from Monrein and it's wonderful! I got 100% Pure Canadian Beeswax Candles, a beautiful glass votive, a little box with a "snake" in it (thanks, and yes it scared me :rofl;), a little wooden woman (I want to hear more about this ), a precious tiny journal, and a gorgeous handmade (by Monrein) sterling silver woven bangle!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! LOVE IT ALL! Thanks Monrein! You're a wonderful Secret Santa! Oh, and a super sweet handwritten card!!!!!!

Aleta I enjoyed looking for things to tuck into the box. I live 1/2 mile form Route 66 in case you wondered why that T-shirt was tucked in there. We live 3/4 mile from an original Wigwam Motel.
My SS was Laurie! And what a Texas treat I got! Chocolates! Dark kind! Wonderful treats! A lovely angel bookmark, A blank book for me to write in, apencil set that says Don't mess with Texas, {I already have an ashtray that will match it}, a clip with Texas on it, a Dallas Cowboys ornament for the tree, a pad and pencil set, a shot glass with Texas on it, and a car cup with Texas on it, a calendar of lighthouses and a 2010 date book, a postcard and brochure about Ennis Texas.
I put the shot glass with the Australia shot glasses I got two years ago! I plan to take the cup to work with ice in it and use it frequently. The chocolates are going to disappear this week rather quickly! The diet starts the 1st of January.

WOW!! I received great some great gifts from my secret Santa, OKarol. I received a beautiful calendar with pictures of Paris which which I'm assuming were taken by Karol. I really love it!
I also receive a donate life bracelet, a "Who Shall Live" CD which is a 1965 documentary on dialysis, I Hate Dialysis pin and my very own kidney "stone".
The stone is cute! I'm going to put it on my desk at work and I can't wait to watch the documentary.
When I looked at the package today, I saw the return address. I didn't notice it when I first received the gift. I'm glad I didn't see it. When I woke up this morning, I couldn't wait to find out who my Secret Santa was.
Thanks again for the gifts. I was so excited to open it. I felt like I was a kid!! The calendar was a great idea and its a gift that I'll be able to enjoy all year long!!

Darth, I don't have enough words to describe how much fun it was to open your gifts! I did laugh seeing the Baxtor box!! I took the package to my daughter, Melissa's house because they had all seen it and were dying to know what was in it. It was the very last gift that was opened. I can't begin to list what all was in the box---a beautiful cream scarf this is as soft as a feather, a Monet date book (did you know Monet is my favorite? His paintings fill my heart) , the cutest socks, candies, Dublin key ring. I just kept pulling one thing after another out of the box! I love all the Irish donate life items---- book of poems, organ donation key ring, and I especially love the Irish donate life pins. The dead twig with forget me nots grafted on it is such a beautiful visual. I will be wearing them and can't wait for someone to comment and ask what it is. Oh, and a CD that I can't wait to listen to. Seriously, I can't name everything!! Every thing was passed around and all my family oohhed and ahhhed over each thing. And pens---soft grip and I always use my own pen when I am out and about! Thank you so very much, Carolyn. It was a wonderful box to open! :cuddle; Give my love to your Mum and of course, to Dougal!! Ok I am finally here - my family was at my house all day - well, first my kids and hubby and my sister from Wisconsin. Then later 12 more family members came and we cooked and ate and ate and ate! So I wanted to thank my Secret Santa Darthvader since this morning and apologize for taking so long.
Darth - you really did the most fabulous job of gift giving! Yes, the Baxter box made me smile - and it was sturdy enough to travel all the way from Dublin with amazing treasures inside! I love the Ireland souvenirs - especially the one that says "KISS ME! I'M IRISH!" Then there were so many things - a lovely scarf, a sweet little handbag, candy, music, poetry, make-up, just wonderful things! And some organ awareness stuff from Ireland too - how cool is that?

I am the world's worst shopper, so I decided that rather than buy one big item that could be totally wrong, I'd be better to buy lots of little things, and hope that I got at least one right!... I remembered you mentioning that you liked Monet, so I couldn't go wrong when I saw that personal organiser... The plan appears to have worked, thank God!... That book of poetry, and the kidney stuff is sold to raise money for the Irish Kidney Assoc. who provide such great support to Mum and I... Oh and my disability affects my fine motor skills, so pens with a good grip are a must... I give them to everyone!...

This is to let you guys know that Lilbajanne and I both received our gifts. Silly me, I forgot to check the mailbox on the day before Christmas when I would have been able to take the card to the Post Office to collect it (anything bigger than a letter) and was only able to collect our gifts today.
We are both thrilled at what we received. However, I am not yet sure who our Secret Santas were!!
Next time I post, hopefully I will be able to let you all know what I received (our computer is down and I am only stealing a few minutes on this one to let you guys know that we got our gifts)

thank you mizar for my wonderful gifts, especially when i arrived and saw the boxes. as many of you know i have a developmentally disabled son, kevin.. two boxes arrived from my wonderful secret santa and one of them was addressed to KEVIN!!!!!! i cried. it turned out to be a blue glass with snowflakes that lights up from the bottom and sparkles!!! she couldn't have picked anything better. it's as though she's known kevin all his life. i can't wait to give it to him. and i simply love everything i got, too much to list it all. a vanilla candle, some purple candles a tea cup with tea. and especially the cd with pictures from "around town"
however the best gift of any possible gifts was the fun i had matching everyone with someone and reading the various posts while i chased down who had sent or received their boxes. hopefully the ones that have not arrived will show up this coming week.

Kelly, the little woman was made from a tiny dried gourd, by an artist in Montreal. I loved the springs used to make her "hair". She is supposed to bring good luck and I thought she'd be a nice Christmas ornament. I tried to get things that would compliment the gorgeous colour of your hair.

Lilbajanne was my SS! She sent me a glass keepsakes box with stained glass dolphins which is beautiful!!! I really like it a lot! PLUS she sent me some herb pepper spice, a beautiful calander of from the British Virgin Islands, and a tea holder, the little metal thing you put loose tea in Plus - some very fragrant mango tea and passion fruit tea!! Everything is so nice, I can't wait to taste the tea....I loved having that mystery box sitting under my tree, it did add some fun and smiles to my families Christmas. Like others, my entire family was waiting to see what was in the box- Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.

Boy what a Holiday.... I had family that I have not seen in many years come over and they stayed for several days...... So I am finally free and on the computer again.....
I wanted to thank my SS Wenchie..... Your the best..... YOU gave me a wonderfull ROCK..... I love rocks... its a thunder egg with a beautiful crystal .... very nice this adds to my collection..... Plus the Hand cream will come in very handy while reading the wonderfull book that I have already started...... Plus a tin ( which looks like a house ) of Maple syrup which I had Christmas Morning.... Syrup from NY... very nice... I am keeping the tin..collector stuff.... ( yes a I am a hoarder and a packrat....So!!!! ) Plus you sent those wonderful cakes from Swiss Colony that I am still snacking on.....NOT sharing.......LOL thank you so much..... you were very thoughtfull ..... And did I tell you the Rock is great....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tyefly, maybe you didn't see that post, but Lilbajanne did get her gift on the day after Christmas (I hadn't checked the postbox until Christmas day and had to wait until the Post Office opened. She was so pleased! You have added three shot glasses to her growing collection! Dan sent her one a month or so ago. And the makeup! She was so thrilled. She is very into makeup - has even done the makeup for a music video shoot and for a bride.
My SS was Romona. I had such a great time opening that box! Lots of cute little gift bags with lovely gifts. I am not at home now, so I can only say those I remember now - a lovely chain and pendant, ornaments, sweet-smelling soap. Thank you so much!

My secret santa has my correct address though. Only way they wouldn't have the correct address is if they copied incorrectly from what grammlady gave out.

Two beautiful Christmas Tree Snowflake Ornaments (both larger than the palm of your hand)... Beautiful black enamel on silver butterfly brooch, with diamonte detail... A really nice handmade Christmas Card, and what made Mum smile broadly, a big bag of Bacon Flavoured Dog biscuits for Dougal!... She was thrilled that her 'Little Man' was remembered!... You've made her day, Walt!... :2thumbsup;... And yes, Del, Mum promises not to eat them herself!... She says that due to her ESKF, bacon's off the menu, sadly!!!... :rofl;

I just wished that the person that I sent my gift too would have thank me for the gift...... I am sure that they did get the gift but I guess a thank you would have been nice.......just dissappointed......
A thank-you is always nice. Just to acknowledge that you received the gift. Both of us were really pleased with our gifts. Looking forward to next year now!! Only 10 more months before we can go secret santa shopping!!

I have mentioned all the lovely items from my Secret Santa and how much I loved them all. I thought of Darth in church the other day (stop laughing Darth!) I usually have some hard candies in my purse for grandkids. When it comes time for the sermon, I had them a candy to help sit quietly. I had one of the tins of sour candy Darth had sent me and oh my, were they a hit! Eliza and Emma thought they were the best ever! They love sour candies. They were very excited to learn the candy was from Ireland and very special. Did you know it was that easy to get kids to go to church? :rofl; :thx; Darth!! :cuddle;

My SS did arrive the first week in Jan. It didn't help that Australia Post had themselves a little Christmas strike!
I has been CRAZY around here.... hip surgery, wheelchair, daughter in France, daughter in France getting VERY sick in France, hours spent on Skype with daughter and host Mum, and son starting secondary school. ( I know excuses excuses.... get on with it......)

kitkat is an amazing woman! Since I didn't receive a secret santa gift, she sent me one. :bandance;
Lots of things in the box! A few different Christmas ornaments, and they are SO cute!! A little plate and a mug/cup to go with it that's so awesome, and a notepad, a santa pot holder thingie, and a box to put things in... I shall take pix and post them.
My hard drive crashed, so it may take me a few days to get the pix on my mom's computer because I have to install my camera software on it.

MandaMe1986 - We have PM'd you several times to no avail. Please contact me about the Secret Santa gift you owe your recipient. I know early on you had health issues but you could even have eventually sent a gift card or e-certificate online. Our moderators took care of it so the recipient was not left out, but you should reimburse them.
