I don't have a recipe - I just put 'tatos in the pot and start adding things until it tastes like soup!  Tonight's pot had onion, garlic, ham, sweet corn and cheddar cheese, among other things.  And soup base - gotta have that condensed stock, even if I only use a little.

Come on over - I made a huge pot, took some to my MIL, and there's still a ton left over.  I already put some in the freezer for later, but I'll dish some up for you, twirl!

I'm not trying to lose weight Twirl.  It's happening in spite of any intention.  I do have food rules so that I don't find myself having to try to lose weight  (during transplant days).  Things are a bit different now.

My rules as a normal person involve always eating whole grains instead of "white" anything (sushi is an exception),  staying away from too much sugar, red meat no more than once a week max,  very little butter, and no deep-fried stuff except a bite here and there or stealing a couple of fries from someone who orders them.  I haven't eaten a whole order of fries in years.  I also read labels carefully to avoid trans fats in particular.  Not always easy but I've managed to control my weight very well in spite of years of prednisone and all the other trx meds.

I like the taste of all foods, everything really, but that doesn't mean I eat them all.

My rules - eat everything, just not often or in large amounts!  I've learned that denying myself anything just makes me binge on it when I can't stand being without it anymore.

Used all the leftover roasted chicken and made a nice yummy pot of noodle and vegetable chicken soup.... perfect for the weather, it is really starting to chill off fast around here. :flower;

Marvin made spaghetti with his homemade sauce.  It was absolutely delicious -- and even better because I didn't have to cook it!  I did have to do the dishes, though   :(  and Marvin's a messy cook.  But, I'll overlook that this time because the spaghetti was sooooooo good.

I made a recipes from a magazine
chili for tailgating
got half way thru the ingredients and it called for sugar and cinnamon
TH --- I ain't baking cookies, I'm making chili
it called for a can of rotel --- I did add that
then I made spicey muffins
and they are healthy and you add two cups of fresh spinach
and egg whites and I could not find the muffin pans so I made it like cornbread
my muffin pans better not be in the garage with screws and bolts in them
oh and the chili called for 8 ounces of beer so I had to drink the other 4 ounces

I've sugared chili, but never tried cinnamon.

I've put chili powder in chocolate cake, though, so I guess the reverse theory would work as well. .. .

03/2007 Fantastic Eye Surgeon in ND got my sight back and implanted lenses in both eyes, great distance & low reading.
Gortex 4/07.  Started dialysis in ND 5/4/2007
Gortex clotted off Thanksgiving Week of 2007, was unclotted and promptly clotted off 1/2 hour later so Permacath Rt chest.
3/2008 move to NC to be close to children.

Aug 5, 08, trained NxStage and Home on 9/3/2008.
Fistulagram 09/2008. In hospital 10/30/08, Bowel Obstruction.
Back to RAI-Latrobe In Center. No home hemo at this time.

yesterday I put a pork roast in the slow cooker with a pack of french onion soup mix and a can of cream of celery soup. Let it cook from 7am till 5pm made some garlic linguine noodles and it was awesome. The meat just fell off the bone...Boxman

Hmmmmm...Boxman that does sound delish.
We had baked tilapia with garlic butter sauce last night, baked potatoe, cole slaw, rolls.
Family had sweetened iced tea, I had a big frosty glass of diet coke.

We had junk tonight, but tomorrow we are having home made fried chicken,smashed potato salad, and cole slaw.

I hardly ever make fried chicken or fry anything for that matter so we're all looking forward to it. Yummy!

At the cottage last night I made grilled steaks on the barbeque, sauteed red peppers and King Oyster mushrooms on top of the steaks, steamed cauliflower with parsley&Mrs Dash lemon butter, salad and tiny new potatoes in the "devil".  The "devil" (diable where it comes from) is a rounded, covered clay pot from the Charente region of France.  You wash the potatoes and while they're wet you salt them with a little kosher salt and drop them in the devil.  Then you set a wire rack to elevate it off the burner slightly and over ten minutes slowly turn the heat up to medium.  You shake the devil every ten minutes or so and the potatoes get browned as they cook.  They have a lovely dry roasted nutty flavour and my husband and mother-in-law who adore their potatoes like them this way best.

Dessert was angel food cake with tinned peaches and a dollop of pudding.  My renal trifle imitation.

I hate my 2 day dialysis break because I'm not used to watching everything quite so carefully so dinner tonight is toasted french baguette with cream cheese and jam.

My husband had a vacation day that he had to use up, so he took today off.... I came home from work and this is what he had made for dinner....

Tacos (with homemade shells yum), spanish rice and chile rellenos.... YUMMMMYYYY!  He even made me a plate to take to work for lunch! :flower;

You're the first person I've talked to (well typed to I suppose LOL) that has noticed they can't eat as "hot" food as they used to pre-transplant.  I used to easily handle very hot pepper (Jamaican background and all that) but now it makes the sides and back of my throat tickle in the strangest way.  It has never come back to normal for me.
