Gobbler sandwiches - turkey, bacon, swiss, onion, thousand island dressing, and green apple slices.

Tonight for me: leftover rice and kalua pork with cabbage, turned into kimchi fried rice. Maybe a fried egg on top.

You just make fried rice and add kimchee to it?  That sounds pretty good.  Are you of Korean background?

Yup, just fried rice, with chopped-up kimchi added to it, plus whatever else (in this case the pork and cabbage). I'm not Korean, just adventurous in food and on a bit of a Korean kick, now that I found a Korean market in town.

I'll be right over.  I wish.  We could go to the gym, come back to your place and cook, eat and then head out for nocturnal.  Would that qualify as a sleepover.

Made a second batch of potato soup tonight - the first one went far too fast!  The soup and some hot filled biscuits made a warm, cozy dinner.

my son- in- law cooked for us
I am not sure what it was ---- but I "liked" and thanks for once to the renal diet---- I could not eat much......
some kind of casserole with everything in it---- even the kitchen sink
he is always trying to prove he cooks better than me---- like that is going to happen
if I cooked worse than he does I would not need the band
but I told him I liked it
he wants me to make him a nanner pudding, crab salad and king ranch casserole
and I will
someday next week
goodbye

You're the first person I've talked to (well typed to I suppose LOL) that has noticed they can't eat as "hot" food as they used to pre-transplant.  I used to easily handle very hot pepper (Jamaican background and all that) but now it makes the sides and back of my throat tickle in the strangest way.  It has never come back to normal for me.

Monrein, I used to enjoy spicy food.. especially Korean food... but now sometimes I eat cole-slaw and my mouth is burning from something in it. Oh well.. sometimes I just suffer through it because it is sooo good. Last time I had Korean food with a childhood friend, I went through about 4 glasses of bori-cha (or however you spell it) a Korean tea like beverage made out of rice or something, I forget.

Tonight was improvised Korean chili shrimp on sticky rice. I ran out of garlic, ginger, and green onions; so I slivered a shallot and sauteed it in sesame oil, then added a couple handfuls of small peeled shrimp. Once they were pink I added a sauce made of gochujang (Korean fermented red pepper paste), sake, mirin, rice vinegar, and garlic powder. When the shrimp were nice and coated, I added a couple spoonfuls of gochugaru (Korean red pepper powder, coarse grind) and some toasted sesame seeds, then served the shrimp over a bowl of sticky rice. By the time I was done eating the shrimp, the sauce residue had coated the rice and turned it all a nice shade of red.

Tomorrow I'll hit the farmer's market in the morning, and the Korean market after that, and probably end up making a stew for dinner. My hemoglobin's up this week - can you tell?  :yahoo;
