My two beautifull granddaughters

I cooked a real meal tonight since Carl wasn't on the machine, yet. Sauteed some talapia in lemon butter sauce, brown rice and my own squash/tomato mix. Recipe: saute a couple cloves of garlic in butter, add sliced yellow and zucchini squash and cover to allow it to get well cooked, add chopped tomatoes and cover until tomatoes are just cooked then shake on fresh grated Parmesan. MMM.

I was thinking about sloppy joes the other day. Haven't had that for ages!

I wasn't especially hungry for dinner tonight, so I just had the last of my popcorn (popped in a pan, of course  8) ) and then 20 minutes later the last of a loaf of good bread and a cherry tomato salad. I wanted some salami to go with the bread, but apparently it all got eaten. It hardly lasted a day.

If I drink a Nepro I'm not hungry for a long time.  Sometimes at night I'm hungry so I'll get up and just have a swallow of Nepro and that coats my stomach so I can sleep.  PM me if you want to know how to order just a six pack to try.  I should be a sales person for them but I'm not.

If I eat cooked egg yolks, it makes me not want to eat for a long time, by upsetting my stomach slightly. But I think that's just me.

Little grocery store down the street (little expensive grocery store) shaves off beautiful slices of smoked salmon and makes it look so fancy and charges a ghastly  amount.  But the save all the "mistakes" in put in a little plastic container.  You can but it really cheap.  That's where I'm going.

Last night, unsuccessful kung pao. I started cooking without the directions in front of me, so I ended up improvising, and it didn't turn out right. I'm looking for a specific flavor, and I missed the mark. It was still edible, and maybe even good, but not right. Once it cooled down, the smell was right, though. The chiles just didn't lend their heat or flavor to the rest of the dish, and there was too much sauce, and too much vinegar, and I totally forgot a big step so it came out very different.

Also, there may have been an issue with the chicken I used - if the rest of that package of chicken has the same problem, I might not be able to do anything with it. Otherwise, I'll try again once I get some chili bean sauce, which apparently is one big thing I was missing. So no recipe yet, don't want you coming back telling me it sucked, 'cause it did.  :P  :rofl;

I made a soup based on the Zuppa Toscana at Olive Garden. Olive oil, sweet Italian sausage, onions, garlic, tiny yellow potatoes cut in half, chicken broth, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, oregano, frozen spinach, and heavy cream.

Take three sausages out of their casings, brown with the olive oil and break up into not-too-small chunks in a pot. Set the cooked sausage aside, and saute a chopped onion and some chopped garlic cloves in the oil that's left. Add half a pound (or more) of these tiny yellow potatoes, just cut in half. Add chicken broth to cover plus an inch, and smoked paprika, red pepper flakes (lots), and oregano. Simmer 10 minutes, then add the sausage back, cook another 10 minutes. Taste it and adjust salt, then add about half a package of frozen spinach and bring back to a simmer so the spinach is just heated through. Turn off the heat, add 1/4 cup of heavy cream, stir, and serve with garlic bread.  :clap;

I didn't bother making garlic bread  :'( but I did have a nice demi-baguette to tear apart and dip.

This will eventually show up on my blog with pictures - when it does, I'll edit this post if I still can, or just make a new post with the link.

Edit, forgot to mention: After the potatoes were cooked but before I added the sausage, I decided the halved tiny potatoes weren't small enough (should've quartered them) so I took a potato masher to the pot and squished most of the potatoes. It broke them up into better-sized pieces, and also thickened the broth a bit.
