Man, somehow I've missed reading this thread for a while. I'm soooo sorry about having to have made this decision boxman. I saw a neighbor from back in Maryland have to make this same decision a few years back. I understand how traumatic it is. You're a strong person, so I know you'll do fine! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.   :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle;

First of all I want to thank you all for the get well cards. I just recieved (6) of them in the mail forwarded to my house from the hospital. It means a lot. The surgeon wants me to talk to the vascular guy one last time on Friday to discuss any possibility of doing more vein work before I make my decision. So I will wait till then. Again thanks for the cards it made my afternoon recieving them all...Boxman

Wow, Boxman, it would be great if they could do more vein work and save your leg.
Maybe it's a good thing the one didn't cal you back and you called the original surgeon.
Time will tell.  But waiting is awful.
Wishing you all the best.

Boxman, I hope you have a good vascular guy. Mine's name is Dr. Dick...no kidding...when I woke up after my fistual surgery, I asked my wife if Dr. Dick was happy...she said he was...I said "well a happy Dick is a good Dick" and laughed hysterically.

Guess that has nothing to do with anything, but he IS a very good vascular surgeon.  :rofl;

Well I met with the vascular surgeon today to discuss the possibility of getting more blood flow done to the foot
His opinion was, no matter how he does the operation, I could expect another 30% flow at most. He was not optimistic that would be enough
and Dr. Calbatta conquered (who is a surgeon also) It would mean continuous treatment everyday to try and heal
it with no quarantee that it would last even a year. So as hard as it is to grasp for me I have decided to have the below
the knee amputation and hopefully be able to heal and attempt a prothesis. The surgeon was very confident that I would have the blood flow for this.
It is scheduled for next Friday at Columbia-Ozaukee thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and keep them coming...Mark

I'm sorry Boxman.
If you have any questions I will try to answer if I can.
Be sure to call the national limb loss organization for info.  I know you will find something that is useful.
I will certainly keep you in thought and in my prayers.

Oh Boxman, I am so sorry.  No words can express how much I hate that this is happening.  I was really hoping things would be different.  We love you and will keep saying lots of prayers for acceptance and then for healing.     :cuddle;

Plenty of hugs for you boxman, seems with the info you got off the vascular surgeon it's the way to go. Knowing that it may only last a year and then you would be going through all this again. Now all your thoughts can go into dealing with the op and healing as fast as you can, so you can come and attack all the ihd members as quick as you can

Thinkin of ya
