Daily positive for me -- Marvin's been walking around -- and walking A LOT -- for three days now without assitance from his walker or his cane!  YooHoo!!!

Dan -- get the dog!!  My Hop-Sing loves me so much, always wags his tail and dances when he sees me (even if I just ran out to the mailbox for 2 minutes), and wants to be next to me all the time.  Hop-Sing doesn't know Marvin's sick; he doesn't know that sometimes I'm struggling under the weight of the world.  Hop-Sing doesn't notice if I cuss too much or have put on a few extra pounds.  He doesn't bring up my faults -- hell, I don't think he realizes I have any.  All he knows is that he loves me and I love him -- and that is MORE than enough for him (well, that and a couple of pieces of cheese every day).  He makes me laugh.  He warms my heart.  He occupies a place in my life, in my bed, and in my heart that would seem so desolate without his four-legged, furry, crooked teeth self!

Dan:  Get the dog!  A mini-schnauzer is an ideal housedog.  Very intelligent and easily trained.  They don't shed at all and they don't slobber.   There are other breeds that make great housepets too but I've always been partial to the mini-schnauzers.  Duke is very affectionate and loves to sit in my lap while watching TV.  And, like Petey's dog...he doesn't think I have any faults!  He's always ready to show me his love.

    Dan     A dog would be great.... I love my two sib huskies  even thow they need alot of attention and running everyday....  mini-schnauzer are nice dogs  but they do need grooming.....   There are alot of great types of dogs....  you better be ready for potty training if you get a puppy.....or if you go and get a rescue which is usually a adult dog they are usually potty trained.....   but what every you decide.... a Dog is the ticket for happiness in my book

I think we all think a dog for Dan would be a terrific idea   :2thumbsup;   Pets make every day a good day.

My positive today? I had lunch with two dear friends. We have been friends for a long time and have shared lots of joy and heartaches together. We sat at the restaurant for three hours. Good food and good company.    And when I got home, I found that my daughter in law had stopped by with a ham and cheese quiche for me!  And a yummy Irish Creme Cake.   Very nice day.  I did have some bad news today, but my choice is to focus on positives and good things   :2thumbsup;

We had our annual Christmas program at school tonight.  It was a lot of work with practices and props ( and our patience wearing thin on times!!) but it was all worth it to see them perform tonight and get great comments from the audience!!!  We did a musical about Christmas around the world that involved all the classes in the school. We charged a $3 fee to get in. A little school of about 160 students collected almost $1000!!

Monrein, your plans sound so fun! And no need to hope, I promise you their parents will enjoy the peace, quiet, and childfree time.

My three-year-old came into my bedroom tonight and announced that he had made me a gingerbread man at school. He's so sweet to think of me.  :)

I had a lovely day at school today, even though I wasn't in my own classroom. Yesterday was awful because i felt like an outsider in the early childhood classroom, but today I just dove in and toaught new things to every single child.  :2thumbsup; It was great.

Then we had parents coming in from 3:00 until 5:30 to see what their kids were doing.

This only down (well, the important one) was that I passed through my own classroom today as the kids were getting ready for the open house and I REALLY missed them (after two days! LOL). Made me misty-eyed.

Over heard a parent of a three year old sya to another parent, "My child is upset about school being clsed for two weeks. I heard some other kids say that, too!" Said with a tone of amazement.

I, on the other hand, am looking forward to this break. No matter how much we love our students, teaching is HARD. We need to recharge our batteries pretty often.  :clap;

King Tut sounds awesome!

I solved my problem with remembering my night time meds with a wrist watch with an alarm that I got today.  ( I have a bad habit of getting involved in a book or a project and not noticing it's time for evening meds.)  Was hoping for something little and dainty.  Ahhh, well, the local discount store doesn't sell dainty with an alarm.  I have something digital that looks like it could launch a James Bond rocket.  I can now keep track of day, month, time, keep track of more than one time zone, and time myself running miles - hehehehehe - like that's gonna happen!  It was pretty cheap, though, so it will do until I can find something I actually want to wear every day.  It went off with a loud, annoying alarm at exactly the right time, and that's what I needed!

Gwyn and I took the 3-year-old to the art museum on Sunday while our older son was attending a birthday party. The 3-year-old has a thing for the art museum. The whole time we were there I could hear people whispering about him because he is so excited by, and vocal about, art. We took him into the Warhol gallery. Now, I definitely see the value in Andy Warhol, and enjoy his work, but I go more for the classics in art. My three-year-old was telling me about what he saw and making up his own titles for all the works. Then he pointed across the room and gasped "What is that picture called because that picture is beautiful!" It was a massive double print of DaVinci's Last Supper. I know it was probably just 3-year-old babble, but part of me likes to believe that my son can already pick out the masterpiece in a room full of kitsch.

Cariad, they say a child's personality is pretty much set by age 3, so there's no reason not to think that doesn't hold true for having a good eye and a taste for quality art, too!
