I got to see Eliza and Emma perform tonight at their school. They are both in the school dance troop.  Seeing all those bright faces full of excitement is a good daily positive for me.

My two beautifull granddaughters

When my daughter was younger she was in the Nutcracker, first as one of the polinchinelles and then as Clara for three years before graduating to soloist spots. When she danced for the Alabama Ballet she even got to be Fritz one year. I have seen that ballet so many times including night after night of rehearsals, that I should be sick of it!  :rofl; :rofl;

But it is a holiday tradition.

My kids at school are so excited already that today was a challenge for sure! Even so, I wouldn't give this up. The kids won't remember half the gifts that they get under the tree, but they WILL remember what we spend time doing with them.

I really hope that I make a difference in the lives of the children I teach. That is my positive every day.

Yea, I've done the same thing with neices and nephews and grandkids and neighbors and friends all for 50 years or more.  I think I know the storey now.  lol.  Plus when you start repeating JS's lines from Its a Wonderful Life before he says them,  it is time to find something  new to watch.  lol  Little Ricky is only a few months old.  We'll see if I can still walk a couple of years from now.

Another Daily Positive:  I just went out to carry garbage and tripped over a brick on the way in.  Fell on my face, stood up partially and then fell backwards on my butt.  So what's positive?  Only two skinned and bloody spots, didn't fall on my fistula arm and the snow hasn't started yet.

At least you didn't break anything Dan and that's a positive!!!  My daily positive is it didn't snow today. We had the afternoon off from school because of major water problems with the town water supply. We were under a state of emergency for a little while. Luckily they got the problem fixed tonight!!  Talk today was that we would be without a good flow of water for 3 or 4 days!!  That meant problems for dialysis.  But all fixed now and hopefully no more problems.  It would have been a very bad time for a fire to take place!!!

I'll probably sound like a bad advertisement, but my husband found a new insurance agent and is saving us about $500 on our annual house/car insurance. House insurance is already paid in full with another company, so we'll get a desperately needed refund.

Snow seems to have stopped - only about a quarter inch on the cars, does not seem to be sticking on the ground. No shoveling!

A couple of weeks ago we bought a new sofa set - lazyboy leather motion chair and sofa!!  We paid $500 down payment because we didn't want it delivered right away.  I called today to say we wanted it delivered next week.  I asked if it was on sale now. He checked and it was so we got another $500 off!!  It is paid for now and will be delivered next Wednesday!!  :clap;

Wow, Del!  Good for you!  A new sofa set AND $500 more off the price!  It will be nice to have that for Christmas.  You and hubby can curl up with some comfy throws and enjoy the season.   :2thumbsup;

Must have snowed again during the night cause my deck and patioi furniture is covered with something white.  Not much on the grass though.

Neighbors are slamming car doors.  I'm going to see if they  made coffee.

Have a good day everyone!

It is beautiful here. I have to give up my conviction that snow is only for weekdays when we can get a day off from school. I'm sure all the kids around here who haven't played in the snow for their whole lives are having a blast. For some reason (getting old, I bet), I have been doing lots of thinking about how children make the memories that will last them a lifetime. All those children out in the snow today may just be doing that. Hmmm. I want some warm cocoa!  :2thumbsup;

We have snow in Mich. too. just enough to cover the ground. The sun is shining and everything just sparkles.
The wedding dress I had to alter is done so it's going to be a very good day.

Are we the only ones who didn't get snow?  I want some!  Well, just a little with no ice.   :2thumbsup;

My positive?  I got my engagement ring fixed. I haven't worn it for years. The band had worn so thin, I worried about wearing it. Decided today to take it to a jewelers we know and for $100 he took out the thin part and re-did the band, in about 2 hours.   It looks so pretty and it is nice to have it on. Why did I wait so long to get this done?  I showed my husband and told him I didn't need a thing for Christmas because I was so happy to have my ring back.  He said he got off easy!

this wont sound like a positive thought at first. BUT!!!! Today I went to a memorial for some one that I really did not like so much, but went to support my beloved step son. Come to find out, that except for a very few people, nobody else liked her very much either, and I had an opportunity to bond with my daughter in law. A wonderful person who is very well loved, by me and many others. There is good in everything, if you look hard enough.

We are on the final countdown for Granddaughters wedding! Everything is done and under budget :bow; The big positive is that the big surprise is still a surprise! DH is walking her down the aisle. He hired a clydesdale horse and carriage to pick them up at the church and take them to the reception hall. That will make some wonderful memories :clap;

What's past is prologue

« Reply #1263 on: December 07, 2009, 08:17:39 AM »

We had a wonderful weekend, and I actually had some energy. Saturday we took the boys to a science museum and we went into this display where you are surrounded by projection screens, you put on special glasses, and tour the solar system. It's lucky that it was just one family at a time, because my 3-year-old talked all the way through. The woman who was conducting it grabbed him as we were leaving and said "You are SO smart!" Then the boys each got to pilot an airplane on the flight simulator. Later we toured the aquarium with touch tanks and the whole works.

Sunday we sold a high chair on Craigslist for $75 - that's around half what we paid for it, which is really good. We also made crepes and my 7-year-old managed to flip the crepes without utensils. I was very impressed. I can remember being closer to 12 when I first managed to do that. We walked to an event at the local microbrewery and ran into friends. Then we made our own pizza at home using my husband's new bread recipe book to make the crust. The kids had fun making it, and more importantly, actually ate it. My husband and I ended the evening by cleaning our kitchen for about 3 hours. It needed it after all of that baking.

Oh, and the best part is that my husband returned to work today - hopefully, hopefully this is permanent.

OH, Cariad,
Your weekend sounds just lovely!

My positive is that I survived the long ordeal in the dentist's chair today. Still can't smile. Except here...

 :yahoo;

And I sure can't open my mouth that wide. But it will get better.

I'm going home tomorrow!!!!  Hopefully, the surgeon will switch to appointments every other week, to make the traveling easier since my travel time is twice as long from home as it is from my sister's house.  The doc is also supposed to take me off the darned liquid iv nutrition now that I'm eating enough real food.  I'm actually gaining weight getting such a large amount of calories.  I certainly don't need to gain back all the pounds I worked so hard to lose!  Either way, I'm headed north after my appointment, to my own house, my own bed, and the company of my own lonely kitty who has been alone except for daily visits from my friends for the 4 months I've been gone.  Ahh, my own bed tomorrow night.  I get the couch here at sis's tonight.   She and her hubby have been sleeping in their camper since I got here at the end of October.  Thanks to our lovely Michigan winter weather, they had to shut it down and winterize it before all the pipes froze.  I've been sleeping in their bed.  (Aren't they awesome?)  So tonight, they are just as happy crawling in their own bed as I will be getting in mine tomorrow!

There's no place like home, there's no place like home!

Molly went on a big walk today with school (10 miles), but there were two children who weren't able to go because of health issues.  I said I would take them to the movies as a treat.  When we got there one of them told me he had never been to the movies!  Wow, it made my day to be able to give him an experience he's never had. Cool eh?

I had a great lunch. The boss, read principal, cooked the staff lunch. Salad, french bread, pasta, lemon bundt cake.  I need a nap now.

Aleta, so glad your smile is back! You have one the warmest smiles I've ever seen. :) Hope the pain is subsiding.

Kitkatz, that lunch sounds divine.

OK, though I am sick to death of the subject: my husband got unofficial word that the owner of the company where he contracts has decided on a course of action and his company will be sold and merged with another. This should ultimately mean steady employment and most importantly, health benefits, for our family. We have narrowly averted disaster. Sweet!
