It has been a really nice weekend. The temperature has been way above normal. We went for our last boat ride until next spring yesterday. I spent almost all day outside!! It's still nice today and not a flake of snow on the ground!! (that's a BIG positive!!) We are going for a walk in the woods in a few minutes.

My 91 year old mother-in-law and I made Christmas cookies all day yesterday at the cottage. She is famous in the family for her delicious cookies and usually makes 5 or 6 types. We settled on the three kinds that are the favorites of my nephew and niece (15 & 6) who are abandoning their parents this year to come and spend the holidays with us in Toronto.
We were both pretty tired out at the end of the day but we sat down and raised a cup of tea to each other in celebration of the fact that despite her age and my CKD we rocked in the kitchen. Shortbreads, chocolate chip/pecan, and icebox with almonds and cherries are what we made.

We had rain this weekend in the area.
I sent Maria back to Milwaukee.
I have spent the day playing on the computer. Big Lots was fun. I spent money in there today.
Tomorrow I go back to work.

We finally got haircuts for our kids. Their hair was so long and unruly that my 7-year-old got fed up and cut his own bangs about a week ago.... and I didn't even notice until my husband pointed it out. They look so clean-cut and mature now.

We spent a couple days camping and I was able to catch up on book work with no distractions. I feel so rested and stress free now that all those papers are not hanging over my head!
And leaving the campground we saw a lynx. Beautiful. Going back to school today wasn't even bad. It was good to see the kids again after the long weekend.

We spent Thanksgiving week in Pennsylvania and I got to see all my kids. The NxStage worked great, we did treatments early in the morning and then had the rest of the day to enjoy. Ate lots of turkey, stuffing and pie made by our daughter and relaxed.

I've spent this week reintroducing clear liquids. It's been lovely not to be hungry constantly!

Great news, jbeany!
My husband got a check for over a week of backpay today. He has received more information about the company's owner's plans and when we can expect an end to all of this madness. Soon.
I spent most of the afternoon cooking with my husband in an effort to use up some of our random freezer/pantry/root cellar items. We made pumpkin pie, pea soup, and banana bread. One of my best friends called me this afternoon and we talked for over an hour.
Today was a positive day!

Creamy liquids and mashed veggies this week - yummy! Doc thinks I'll be off liquid nutrtion next week. I've also been cleared to drive again, and got the painful drains removed from my stomach. It was a fabulous appointment yesterday, and there's even a possiblity I get to go home before Xmas! The only thing that may hold it up is if the plastic surgeon wants to do something about the incision before the holiday.

Yay Janel good news.
We went out to a fantastic concert last night. Felt like a normal person. One of the performers we saw is a breast cancer survivor, and is such an inspiration. I shall be famaous any minute if just try a bit harder lol.

Nearly the weekend here, too (though not as near as yours, Des).
Had another good clinic this morning. Labs were good, but we need to start the Epogen again. That may mean a burst of energy!
I love coming to this thread just to get a good boost!

I love this thread too Aleta! Every time I come here it forces me to think of something to be thankful for...
Today, I woke up feeling great and got to go for a (chilly but refreshing) run outside! By God's grace I continue to have the energy to get out and get some exercise and fresh air.
And, I'm thankful for the holiday season and Christmas music on the radio

Tomorrow is our school's big trip to see The Nutcracker!
I'll be exhausted afterward, but the kids will go home with memories to last a lifetime. That makes it worth it.

Dan--you're killing me!! It's a Wonderful Life is the best movie ever. Jimmy is my favorite actor. Beth takes all her nieces and nephews every year to see the Carolina Ballet perform The Nutcracker. This will be the 8th year. 9 under the age of 12 and I get to go because I am old! No parents are allowed. They all look forward to the night as soon as Thanksgiving is over. We are going on the 23rd. Should we get a ticket for you, Dan!

Yea, I've done the same thing with neices and nephews and grandkids and neighbors and friends all for 50 years or more. I think I know the storey now. lol. Plus when you start repeating JS's lines from Its a Wonderful Life before he says them, it is time to find something new to watch. lol Little Ricky is only a few months old. We'll see if I can still walk a couple of years from now.
Another Daily Positive: I just went out to carry garbage and tripped over a brick on the way in. Fell on my face, stood up partially and then fell backwards on my butt. So what's positive? Only two skinned and bloody spots, didn't fall on my fistula arm and the snow hasn't started yet.
