Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

You can always hire someone to do some of the sewing...  my Mom used to work that way.  When something was hot she'd go all out.  Sounds like you've hit on something.

The day my dad died was very special......  (12years ago)

We were all called to the hospital as my dad was dying of Leukemia......
He was in very good spirit and my mom was sobbing by his side he
jokingly...... said :" don't worry dear I am going to live until I die"

He did just that .... he planned his funeral down to the flowers and last hymn. (need spell check... mine does not want to work)

I just thought I'd share...... It is a very positive way to live and die.... :)

I had energy today! I went through a box of old clothing to donate to a clothing exchange that is being planned at our sons' school. I did some laundry, walked an overdue bill to the post office (only a few blocks away) and learned a bit more about Latin American literature from my Spanish tutor. I'm exhausted now, but a good exhausted - the kind where I feel like it's more than illness wearing me out.

Up, awake and had cereal and coffee.  Thinking about going for a haircut (if I  get a bath early enough).  Maybe Thursday would be better.

Weatherbug just flashed a good message on the screen.  It will be down to 99 today.

I find it hysterical that the students never dream that we teachers count the days until the end of the year, too. In fact, I think we look forward to it even more.  :rofl;

I volunteer at a crisis line, and today all of the callers thanked me for my time and seemed to honestly feel better after our talk. One even burst into tears of gratitude at one point in our conversation. Most of these callers are profoundly mentally ill, and can be understandably angry at everyone and anyone, so this was actually quite a miraculous occurence.

On another note, congratualtions to all you teachers for making it through another school year! I am constantly awed by how hard my sons' teachers work, and try to never miss an opportunity to thank them. I am fully aware that I could never do the work that you teachers do.

Our school trip for primary (K-3) was today. We have a super time and the student's behavior was awesome!!!!  Two parents were there to help and boy did I appreciate them.  One did all the drinks for me and the other helped me pass out the meals.  One even bought my lunch for me!!!  When we got to the bowling ally a parent bought us all a coffee. boy what good parents we have!!!

Hubby worked late tonight, so I picked my son up from school and we went to dinner and a movie.  Simple dinner at McDonald's and the new Transformer movie.  I love spending time with my boy.  He is the light of my life!

I was walking back from the grocery with my younger son this evening and we saw a bunny rabbit. He exclaimed "Look, mommy! A baby reindeer!" (I guess the ears looked like antlers to him?) We followed the bunny and my husband and older son saw us and came over to have a look. We watched the rabbit until it became spooked by all of the attention and disappeared.

One of those nice, simple moments with the family.

My daughter Molly (12 ) is home sick from school and I had made her a sandwhich.  I asked her if she wanted a glass of milk as well and she looked at me in a funny way.  I said "what?" and she said "I don't want you to have to be my slave".  I said don't worry about it, cos she has to be my 'slave' so often at the moment.  What a lovely girl to even think of it eh?

Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.

I have to agree with Okarol - reading all the daily positives is very fun. 

today I got to walk the dogs early morning without a jacket or light sweater.  That's right - we've reach that magical time in the summer where it is warm in the morning.  This is something that we look forward to for 10 months - it is but a splash in the pan but I'll take it.
