Sara - your cocker mix is out of this world - look at those eyes.  Totally amazing that the dog survived parvo - really ugly stuff.
I have two  black and white Shih Tzus - one female - 7 yrs and a male 4 years.  My female is a very serious runt of the litter who is my primary care giver.  She's amazing - when I come in from dialysis, she knows if it's been a good or bad day.  When I lie down on the couch, she jumps up onto the back of the couch and makes sure she has one paw on my shoulder to comfort me.  If the male comes close, she makes sure he knows to behave.  She's my wonder dog.  The male - well - dumb as a brick but won the prize at the groomer's for being the happiest dog ever to come to a dog groomer.  He's a very sweet little guy who loves to cuddle.  He has no idea what his own name is and doesn't really understand simple commands (I'm sure he was a 6 minute puppy - lack of oxygen to the brain) and he takes his ques from the female.  When it's suppertime, he only gets it when he sees the female doing circles and getting excited - then he figures something good is going to happen so he also gets excited.

They are my most treasured companions (even if they do throw kibble all over the place)

Tanuk is a boy and he has been fixed.  I didn't want him scenting the house up.  ::)  But he is now 5 years old and very friendly.  He is always getting under my feet.  He is also a very good mouser.

They claim he is part sheltie. He was a pound dog someone left him tied to a trailer and left for dead. I've had him about 5 years now. He won't let anyone near me.

What great pets and stories and names...

I'll stick to this area to watch for more furry and feathered friends.

I don't think that 'sheltie mix' has any sheltie in him, but hey, who cares?  My Isabella was from a pound just outside Los Angeles.  She was my best friend for years. One-half of the people who saw her said, "you know, she is a full Shepherd" , and the other half said, "you know, she is a Shepherd Mix, of course".  that was so funny. I couldn't care less about that stuff.   Isabella was great protection by keeping many folks at a distance when I was out alone with her.... but I wonder what she would have done, really.  Licked people to death?

you are all so lucky to have pets....

Thanks, she is quite a handful, but I love her.   ;D

That's so cute how your girl is your "caretaker."  And your poor little "challenged" dog, LOL, sounds like every day is a joy around them.

This is Jerry. He was 20 lbs of pure love....I lost him in February 2005, but he's still my fav. I still have 2 other cats and will put their pics up another time.  I took Jerry's picture off. It was too small; had been taken with a phone cam.

My sister's dog, the character.  His name is Zeddicus Zul Zorander. He is named after a wizard in Terry Goodkind's books Sword of Truth. We call him Zedd. My daughter picked him up off the street when he was a tiny puppy no more than six weeks old or even younger.  He owes me a hallway carpet, two pairs of shoes: (one he took out of the bag and the box, brand new and chewed up!) and the back yard sprinkler system he ruined by chewing it up. My sister took him and turned him into a decent dog by giving him some discipline and affection.  Here is a Christmas picture I took of him!

I am going to have to come and take that Belgian Malinois away for me to have...
How lucky you are to have her.   She looks alot like my Isabella, whom I miss so much.
I can tell she's a great dog.
