Zoe is gorgeous, and so is Napoleon (esp. for a 20 year old with renal failure! Tough guy, by the sound of it, that cat!).

He is hanging in there. We really love him a lot but we will have to draw the line with dialysis.

You'll know when the time is right to "draw the line". It's a tough time, but ultimately, you'll do what's right for Napoleon. It's been over 2 years since we had to make that decision for Diesel. We still miss him like mad, but we know it was right (I believe his kidneys failed at the end, also).

Cyco,

You are so very right about knowing the time is here to
make that very hard choice.
Our little Sambuca, who my hubby loved so dearly, let
us know that.
She also had failed kidneys, but did have a good quality of
life for about a yr with the condition.
She is still so much missed by us, but I do know how happy
she must be now, playing and having fun with her two
brother Shih Tzu  in heaven

This is my brother's family dog.  She was brought to him with a very complex multiple fracture from being hit by a car and her owners didn't want  (or couldn't afford) to pay to have her mended.  She was going to be euthanized but my brother fell in love with her so he did the long surgery and now she sleeps on the floor by my niece's bed and likes to lay her head on a pillow.  She's a husky/greyhound cross breed.  Sleeps most the time but runs like the wind when she feels like moving.

As a kid, we had a boxer with similar markings to your brothers dog.

As for Karols cat, looks like he's deciding if he should eat it and how  :rofl;

Hey, you're right!

I bet he would if there wasn't a screened lid on top!

Even harder to imagine he weighs an ounce!

Karol, can you tell if the turtle is going? It looks so tiny. Any name yet or are we just going to call it, IT?

This hungry little tortoise eats 3 times a day, he likes green leaf lettuce, bok choy and kale - seems slightly bigger, although they don't grow really fast. I know - it's awful we haven't named him - I call him Torty but that's not really a name. He's been climbing on top of his little Quonset house cave thing, not sure what he thinks he is doing - playing king of the hill, I guess!

New addition... presenting Dante.. (what you can see of him).. 4 week old rescued kitty from hell!..Can't wait till he's not wobbly anymore and see what antics await us!.  He was nasty and smelly.. got a full bath (that was special!) and taking a nap in his adoptive blankie.. you can just barely see him

All these pets with their stories of rescue are so cute. I don't know how some people can be so cruel to animals. Most people treat their pets better than their kids, but those others  :boxing; :boxing;

Tell us the story of his rescue.  He is a cutie.  I pulled one of our cats as a scrawny kitten out from under the spare tire of the truck.

« Reply #1119 on: May 05, 2008, 03:34:15 AM »

At work (the PO).. the have training vehicles not used daily..
Seems a mom cat decided the engine was a good spot for her babies.
When they went to use it Thursaday they discovered them.  The trainer said they were wild kittens and got hissed and spat at.
Reported it to safety.. safety office called me down in maintenance department..
Went out there with a box and a fellow worker..
Yep.. they were spitting and hissing..cause they are wild and scared...
We got them all and waited for mom.. she never showed up.. taking turns to see if she was somewhat tame..
So I took the box with the babies to the car rescue place.... I know the lady there.
I gave her all the babies but this one..I kept Dante..

She called me yesterday to let me know one of his sisters passed away.. just wouldnt eat... and to inquire about mine.  The babies are not even a month old. But I couldnt put them anywhere.. Its an industrial area and very dangerous... possums rule the roost there and they would have been hurt if I placed them anywhere else or put mama cat in a position to defend them.

Mine.. I had to basically force feed. plus i bought the little bottle and kitty milk.
He (Dante) was not a happy camper and tried nailing me etc.  But now.. he is fat sassy and playful.

He hauls butt and slams into walls and boxes and ME.  But he is bathed and clean, and has turned into the most loving
little guy.. sleeps with me.. started purring.. follows me like a shadow.. and actually comes when I call his name.

I know my life right now is hectic with all the stuff that is going on.  graduations, eagle ceremonies, getting ready to move, keith is moving down, son is also moving in.

But Dante just puts a major smile on my face.. we found each other at just the right time.  I needed him and he needed a safe home.

I just got this funny picture of Hilda. It's not uncommon for her to lay like this, but it looks so uncomfortable. We joke that she's part dog, part pipe cleaner.
