Tonight i had lunch with hubby at work, we had Mickey D's.  I ate a regular #1 (Big Mac) no cheese with a light lemonade and 8 renagels  :o
Can you OD on renagel? Is 8 alot at one time, or do you think the worse the food is for you the more renagel you should take to compensate??? Boxman

Good question Boxman, the most I have taken for a meal is 3.

Everyone's different, but on average, each Renagel handles about 70 mg of phosphorus.

My neph and dietician are well aware of the amount of Renagel i take, they have never told me not to take so many, problem is, even though i am taking alot, my stupid phos. is still high  :banghead;   I think they are going to cut down my renagel and add a Fosrenol, (ohhh yum)  :sarcasm;

Rob showing off his pot of gold!

« Reply #1435 on: December 17, 2007, 09:27:19 AM »

Rob is supposed to take 3 Renagel with each meal.  If he had something that contains more phosperus he was directed to take more with that meal.  His neph said not to do it on a daily basis, but now and then is ok.

stuffed bell peppers cooked in the slow cooker. yummy.  recipe available if you want
sounds yum i'ld love the recipe thanks

SLOW COOKER STUFFED PEPPERS

1 package (7 ounces) spanish rice mix
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup sliced celery
1 small onion chopped
1 egg
4 medium green bell peppers, halved lengthwise, cored and seeded
1 can (28 ounces) whole peeled tomatoes, undrained  i use smaller can of chopped tomatoes with green chilies
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 cup water

1   set aside seasoning packet from rice. combine beef, rice mix, celery, onion and egg in large bowl. divide meat mixture evenly among pepper halves
2   pour tomatoes with juice into slow cooker. arrange filled pepper halves on top of tomatoes. combine tomato soup, water and reserved rice mix seasoning packet in large bowl. pour over peppers. cover, cook on low 8 to 10 hours
serves 4
Code: [Select]
i mix the seasoning packet in with the beef mixture and then put some chili powder in with the soup. it seemed to bland to me the other way. i also only let it cook about 5 hours. i don't like my peppers mushy.

I take 3 with a low -phos meal and up to 6 with anything higher - I adjust according to how much phos is in each meal.  I do it every day.  My neph and dietitian know - they encourage it.

A salad with hot banana peppers. I am still having this unusual craving for hot and peppery stuff.  :urcrazy;
By the way, I don't like hot banana peppers, but now I can't get enough. I have been really good for over a week, but I broke down and bought some at Wal-Mart last night.
