This is the OTHER HALF of aharris2 (the kinder, gentler half :-\ )

Rolando's point is this - life is for living and enjoying and if food is what you enjoy, then eat.

You can eat anything, just do it in moderation (which may mean eat just a couple of those french fries then hand the rest to your kid, or load up that half taco with cheese then eat the rest of them without)

...and at AN APPROPRIATE TIME. The labs are in- Phosphorus is 2.5(very suspect! - see below), potassium is 3.3. You have complete info...with Rolando's other issues, we have been fighting the effects of a disturbed digestive tract. He is losing potassium and fluid, hence the gatorade, tea, and bananas. We've also been fighting overdoses of insulin (dosing for a specific dinner only to eat half of that) and that's why the two glasses of oj and even a very sweet flan in the middle of the night last night (dairy with binders of course)

If you look hard at what Rolando mentions eating, the worst of it is the pasta in the lo mein and the wrap around the pot sticker. We are careful with white flour in that it has a lot of phosphorus and we treat the oriental stuff the same even though who knows what it really is - match it with binders.
The homemade tacos are scrambled egg with onion on corn tortilla. They also have just a little salsa and just a little sour cream - nothing in excess and nothing too awful, and he needs the protein for wound healing. Sodium you say? The obvious problem would be thirst, but we don't have an issue with it. We have found that blood sugar is a much more significant thirst factor and we are very vigilant with it. (anyone who wants to comment on sodium and the movement of fluid within the body, please feel free - I don't quite understand the mechanics of it yet)

As far as the pizza and coke... one slice of pizza and a couple of sips of my coke at the movies ... with binders of course (binders are clearly our favorite dessert  :P !!!)

This phosphorus number is very suspect. Rolando usually runs in the upper 3's close to 4. For the preceding three tests done over the last couple of weeks the values were right around 1.5. Some investigation revealed that they were post dialysis values. Now we have a 2.5... is it real or is it post dialysis? I cannot confirm until Saturday.

As I think Rolando has expressed, he is extremely frustrated right now with lots of things, but most significantly with the length of each session (4.5 hrs). He said he would be ranting and he is, just not necessarily on target. This site has certainly been good for him!

Rolando, hermanito tan chulo, play nice!  :cuddle;

You are absolutely correct!  It has to do with moderation and the appropriate time.

I'm making chili again tonight, and after that I'm not cooking again until Sunday. I have a friend coming down from Alabama to visit me, and we're going to Sweet Basil's tomorrow night and Dirty Dick's Crab House the night after that. I know the name sounds bad, but they are supposed to have really good food. They have "world famous" T-shirts that say, "I got got crabs from Dirty Dick's!" That's funny, huh? I'm going to buy one of those T-shirts for my friend!! lmao

that sounded so good-I added a little salt-free, homemade sausage. I have never eaten corn tortilla's and eggs!!Rock ON!!! That is an excellent combination of flavors!! My family was pretty impressed too-we will be eating those again.

Glitter,  if you liked scrambled egg and corn tortillas you should make some "migas"  you cut the corn tortillas in little squares and fry them then throw the egg in with them after they are all cooked nice and soft,  pretty good when you add the onion and some pieces of ham too  :2thumbsup;

Tonight i had enchilada casserole with rice and a little bit of beans ;)  :2thumbsup;

I'm glad you liked the homemade tacos glitter  now try this spin off to them...make the tacos as usual, put them on a plate and add tomato sauce (if you can have it) and then some pecorino-romano cheese on top...hmmmmmm superdelicious instant made enchiladas can't beat them....

i like to thank my sister for such a nice little message, thanks sis...now is this nice enough for you??

BTW we went to the cheesecake factory today and i had guacamole and chips and their world's famous meatloaf with veggies and mashed potatoes, also had green tea and chamomile tea very good food and while is true i only eat one meal a day (I know just like a camel  :rofl;), i try for it to be the best meal of the day.

well, i hope i didn't ruffle any feathers with this message....lighten up people!!!!

Tonight, since my friend was in town, we went to eat at Dirty Dick's Crab House, like I mentioned before. I ate lots of crab legs and shrimp and had New York cheesecake for dessert! I know I shouldn't have, but it was SO worth it!! *yummy*

I love snow crab legs!

And don't worry about the cheesecake, it's pretty low in PO4 and K:

80 grams=1/6 slice from a 17 oz cake (almost 3 oz.)
Phosphorus  mg 74            Potassium  mg 72

Well, I need the potassium and I take binders for the phosphorous, but my calcium is too high. That's what I was worried about! lol I like cheese and milk!

And tonight I'm making Sloppy Joes and fries...something easy... :D

I chopped up a potato last night and soaked off the potassium.  Then I boiled them this morning then I fried them with ham and onions in olive oil and lemon juice for taste.  Had that with corn and a roll.
