Glad you're back Twirl.  Really glad you're back!!!

Tonight is my second dialysis treatment.  I do have 4 potential donors but we are still at the beginning of that and my neph wants me to do 6 months at least of dialysis to clear out some meds and stabilize things in preparation for the transplant.  I'm only on for 2 hours to begin with and will increase from there.  I've started at the hospital but will move to the self-care unit as soon as things are running smoothly. 
I had too many symptoms to hold on any longer.

Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

"brats" refers to bratwurst which is a type of sausage (delicious)
It is also slang for bad children.

thanks we call children brats too , we do have bratwurst but i have never heard it called brats so thanks for clearing that up for me

We're having friends over for a feast tonight!  I am making roast chickens, baked potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, glazed carrots, stuffing and a peach compote with meriingues.  Whew.  I'm not entirely sure what possessed me to cook that much.  Probably because *I* wanted a little taste o' everything!

Pita bread with eggplant spread and tabouleh salad, vine leaves stuffed with rice and ground beef.  Fresh pear for dessert.  Best of all, my appetite seems to be returning.
