Actually brine shrimp is a fresh waster variety that is being widely promoted here to farmers as an alternative crop. I know several people who are raising them and the look and taste is very similar to salt water shrimp. Kentucky farmers took a big hit when the bottom fell out of the tobacco market so nowdays it corn,soybeans, catfish and shrimp.

Guess I could eat the bag of Hershey chocolate chips downstairs. It's a dairy product that came from a plant, so it should belong to one or two of the health groups.

     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye

Meat was not thawed for dinner AGAIN last night, so my husband ordered pizza. He's supposed to be home making sure the meat gets thawed, so maybe we'll have either steak or fajitas tonight. Whatever we don't have tonight we'll have tomorrow night.

I had a challenge last night - no meat in the house, and a hungry family to feed.  We are really pinching pennies, so ordering pizza or picking something up was out of the question.  I had some corn on the cob that a friend picked up for me, needed to cook that, so I made some corn fritters for the first time with some scrambled eggs topped with cheddar cheese.  I even managed to find a few pieces of sausage in the freezer, so my hubby felt it was more like a meal. 

Anyhow, they loved the corn fritters.  I'll definitely be making those again!!

of course., the real question is do i want to. and it's only about 75 here today so having the stove on won't matter much. (this is the first day for 24 days the temp hasn't been 90 or above, mostly above.)

you'd be most welcome, even though the house is only 1035 sq feet. i have a twin bed in the computer room. and i did find the plate for the microwave, so i don't have to turn the oven on. but can i come to your house, dinner sounds much better there and i'm tired of eating alone, can't wait for the dogs to learn to talk.

Fried Pickles? Wouldn't the pickle juice ruin the batter from staying on?. Just never heard of a fried pickle.

In the meantime, I had a Whopper Jr and a Medium Fry. Felt more like a small fry for what I got.

Fried dill pickles slices are on the menu at several restaurants around here. They are dipped in batter and deep fried. They are served with a dill based dipping sauce.

when I make them at home I use sliced hamburger dill pickles
drain on paper towels
batter
and deep fry
drain again on paper towel
we eat with ranch or buttermilk dressing
I think Texans will fry anything

The sweet hamburger pickles would go good with that ranch sauce. They are not the gerkins, they are like regular hamburger sliced pickles.
