Well, my trip to Rochester was delayed due to weather and I spent the night in Chicago but I got there....we went to a million doctor's appointments and labs but had a huge bump when we found out mom's antibodies went up sky high and needed plasmapheresis.  She was so down but I knew it would be OK.  She did 3 days of pheresis and IVIg and got her negative crossmatch last Thursday.  Her transplant was on Friday the 13th....it has turned out to be a lucky day for us.  She is doing great!  Her creatnine is .9 and she looks and feels like her old self again.  My sister is doing great, too...she had a rough time with the trapped gas but it's gone and she feels wonderful.  I was gone for 10 days and missed my hubby and little man so much....my mother in law rearranged my cabinets, fridge, and freezer...eeeek!  She even cleaned the house even though we have a cleaning lady, did laundry every day--including ironing hubby's shirts, entertained my son, AND cooked dinner....OH MY GOD!!  How does she find the energy????  My mom did do 3 days of pheresis and IVIg after the transplant and so far, so good...the antibodies are at bay.  She had to have a transfusion of 2 units of blood but she was having pheresis at the same time.  My dad is helping her with her meds, etc....they are now in the monitoring phase and hopefully will be able to go home soon.  They are staying in a very nice apartment building downtown, so they're close to everything and have tons to do when they aren't resting or going to the doctor.  I'm glad to be home.  I didn't realize how tired I was until I got to sleep in my own bed and was awakened at 6am by my son.  The best news to me is, I don't have to clean house......but I do need to go to the grocery store.  Yuck!  Thanks for all the support!!  Good luck to all seeking transplants!!!

Thanks, everybody!  My mother in law has tons of nervous energy and can't sit still....I told my hubby not to get used to it because it' ain't gonna happen when I get home.  Then again, she's not running after a 3 year old while pregnant with twins.....I am getting rest now and trying to gain the 5lbs. I lost back.  We did A LOT of walking and I did a LOT of eating but hubby is concerned, even though my OB/Peri aren't.  My sister said they'll be doing more crossmatches just to be sure and if the antibodies come back, the surgeon said mom would do pheresis and IVIg again, so we'll see....we're crossing our fingers but so far, so good.  Mom had another kidney biopsy today and bloodwork.  She's not taking as much blood pressure medication and her restless leg is gone.  So far, she's on cellcept, prograf, prednisone, protonix, synthroid, some blood pressure meds I can't spell, a multi-vitamin, omega 3, and I'm sure a few more things but the sheer amount of meds made my head spin.  My dad is great, though.  He takes her temp and blood pressure and gets all her pills for her morning and night.  She'll be glad when they finally get her doses regulated so she can put the real doses in the pill box they gave her.  It's wild, they give her a schedule every day of all the appointments she has the next morning...it's like being in school.  All in all, I can say she was in great hands and still is.  I just hope things still continue to go well!

I have Alport's Syndrome. My kidneys failed when I was 14 and I was on PD for five years before receiving a kidney transplant from my mother. That kidney failed in 2004 and I've been back on PD ever since. I am undergoing treatment for my high antibodies at Cedars-Sinai medical center. I had a kidney transplant on June 10, 2008. My boyfriend was the donor.
