What's past is prologue

« Reply #22129 on: February 04, 2010, 04:50:51 PM »

My GP (also my kids' doctor) said that Aidan's renal ultrasound showed no problems. They aren't even sure he has fused kidneys, although that's what some doctor told me five years ago. He does still have one anomaly that we are supposed to continue to follow annually. I guess I don't really understand exactly what they found, and the report suggested a CT scan, but my GP said don't bother. His tests and health history (no problems) have my GP convinced he is absolutely fine.  :yahoo;

I think it's time to stop looking for health issues in my kids and just trust that it is OK to go ahead with Gwyn donating a kidney. I know that if there is something we missed, it's not from lack of testing.

I have applied to do another course towards my masters in English as a Second Language.  This is Antoine's fault - he got me inspired with his tales of going to uni and doing PD.  Ooooh errr.  When I have an essay due the following day, and I haven't started it because I spent too long in the chat room - I will be yelling at Antoine!!!

Thanks, Marc!

Oooooo, Hanify, I used to teach ESL to refugees and I absolutely loved it. Most of our refugees were from southeast Asia or a few particularly violent countries in Africa. I heard some of the most amazing survival stories.

I love that you're going back to it. Way to go, Antoine! 8)

I can understand that, Rob. My husband has mentioned joining, but I actually prefer that he not. I know he does not read here, and I guess I feel I can be more honest if I know he's not going to see it. He mostly mentions wanting to join when I am having an argument with someone, and though it's sweet that he wants to defend me, I can certainly handle the occasional blow-up myself. I would not be able to handle seeing him insulted or attacked, and while that is rare here, it does happen. If he really wanted to join out of a desire to connect with other donors and caregivers, I would encourage it.  :2thumbsup;

I agree with you,Cariad.  I can say things here I might not say to family.  It is a safe place to go with my concerns.   My daughter is a member. She never reads any post that I have started.   She joined so she could learn more, but knows how protective I am and gives me my space.  We all need our own "happy place".

I am doing three things at once right now.  Have an upholstered chair torn apart, down to the bones.  Sewing lots of pajamas for the Pajama Pals and need to go mail a package --- to someone special ---  hmmmmmmmmmm.     :secret;     I'm not saying who!   Mum's the word.   Don't hit me   :Kit n Stik;      I'm not telling!

Have a fun Friday everyone   :2thumbsup;

     Paris, to answer your question.  Yup, one of these days we'll have to meet, especially since we live so close.   :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup;
      Janon and I have been wanting to head up your way for a while now.  Want to visit the grand sons.  Darn it has been so long since I've seen them, Christmas, that the 15 month old is probably talking where I can understand him now.  At Christmas he would come up to me and start "talking" but in no language I've ever heard.  He knew what he was saying though.   :rofl; :rofl;
      I really enjoy coming to IHD.  Makes my day.  Lots of people here I enjoy "talking" to.  It also gives me a place to use my sense of humor.  It is my "special place" too.     :clap; :clap; :clap;

Paul sees ihd as 'my' territory I think - but I often read him bits and peices and will use some of the comments made by caregiveers to start a conversation about something - or to see if he feels that way etc.  He knows a lot of you by your names and often enquires how you are all doing etc.  I would just like to say that I am sitting on my deck and it's a beautiful day, and the birds are singing.  building somethingI can here a lawn mower in the distance, and a person building something somewhere.  It is just beautiful.  I have my lap top.  I'm saying this to make up for the months coming up where it's gonna be summer over there and WINTER over here  :rofl;

Hanify, my situation is the same.  I read things to Lou and he asks about the people I talk to in chat and is interested.  He even suggests questions for me to ask when he wants to know something, but he probably won't join.  He doesn't like to do all that typing and I think I would rather not think about D when he's not on it.

I'll send you some nice rain for your flowers, if you send me some sun!!!   :2thumbsup;

I've encouraged Carl to join, but his attitude is that why should he bother since I'm finding out all the stuff and sharing it with him!

Hmmm. Maybe I should just shut up about you guys. And yes, he knows y'all.

I think Gwyn is a bit mystified that I have taken to IHD - I am not a message board person, don't do Facebook or any other social networking because I am a privacy fiend. I definitely read posts to him, and when I am writing something that may be touchy, I will often run it by him to help ensure that it is clear and reasonably diplomatic. He's terrible with names, but at least we can be sure he knows Chris (we've met). He's currently pulling for Jenna, like the rest of us, so he does get involved emotionally.

HP, my husband cannot be bothered with the typing, either.
