I have one fear that I can think of.  A lot of people when the see me in the middle of this will say, "He has a fear of Heights",but that is just not true.  For me, it is a fear of falling.

Lets say I'm on the roof of a tall building (flat roof) and there is no raised edge or guardrail along the outer edge of the roof.  I will have a very very hard time getting myself out to the edge of the roof to look over (I'm afraid my foot will slip off of the edge and I'll fall over).

However, if there is even the smallest raised edge around the edge of the roof (even 1 brick high) or there is the smallest type of guardrail, I'll be able to run right to the edge, look over, lean over and do other crazy stuff.

Therefore I think I have a fear of falling, and not a fear of heights.  :)

I used to think I had a fear of heights, until I just read this thread. I now realize it's a fear of falling. If there's a high wall, or something, I have no problem.

I'm terrified of spiders!!! Once, when I was younger, a fishing spider (a BIG, fuzzy, brown spider) dropped from our basement ceiling, right in front of my face! Yikes! I will run screaming from the room if I see a spider. Even pictures and toy ones freak me out. My husband thinks it's hilarious! I'm glad he's amused!

I've also developed a fear of clowns after seeing the movie Saw. Eeeshh...

I used to be afraid of flying. I would have anxiety attacks just walking into the airport. I quickly got over rhat fear when I realized I would never be able to go anywhere with my boyfriend at the time (now my husband!).

I'm afraid of math too. yes, math! I actually have anxiety attacks if I have to do anything involving math beyond basic adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing. Thankfully, it started after I graduated from college. But it is putting a damper on trying to take a math test for entrance to the community college I'm currently taking classes at!

Oh, yeah, and going out in public, going somewhere new or doing something I've never done before also causes me to have anxiety attacks sometimes too.

Yes, I'm a mess, and I have issues!

I definitely hate snakes!  I hate being tickled.  And I also hate being chased.  I always sucked at the games where you had to be chased.  I just give up or stay hidden until they called me out safely.  Maybe that stems from the fact that I also hate to RUN!!!!!!!!!!

Two of my kids went up in a glider in Colorado last weekend. They are much braver than I. I could barely watch when they did a loop!

Stopping to smell the bluebonnets

« Reply #136 on: July 05, 2008, 07:09:29 PM »

UGH! Twirl, I hate those things. Did you know those suckers can fly? I was unaware of that until I moved here. Roaches do not fly in El Paso and they are tiny to the ones compared in the Houston area. The ones we have here can carry off a darn loaf of bread!

I am training one of the yorkies to be the Cockroach Hunter! He's getting pretty good.

I hope your Yorkies are bigger than these roaches.
can I Yorkie set when they learn their jobs?
things are bigger in houston, unfortunately so are the bugs
I know they fly.
a friend in high school screamed when she saw one and it flew in her mouth
I keep my mouth shut(most of the time)
I never saw one roach the year I lived in San Antonio
a teacher, from up north, stepped on one in the teacher's lounge and I saw and heard it crunch
I threw up - right there in the lounge
I still get teased about that

Lightning
Heights
Roaches

In that order.

Here's another & it's a really scary one.
I'm afraid of choking specially when I'm eating alone, but the funny thing is I never think about it while I'm eating. I think about it when I'm not eating, like what would I do if it ever happened.

I know your supposed to throw yourself over the back of a chair, but will it really work???
Hope I never have to find out.

Waking up alone at night can sometimes be tough. I keep a bottle of lorazepam close by just in case.

Go to dialysis, silly woman.  Your throwing up and diarrhea was your body's way of saying TOXINS aboard!  GO!  Or I will kick your ass!  :Kit n Stik;
