I am scared of roller coasters but I think that maybe because I have seizures and the 1 and ONLY small roller coaster, I have been on, made me dizzy which is what an oncoming seizure to me, feels like. I use to think I was scared of dying but that has changed since being diagnosed with CKF and now I look at it, like we are ALL dying a little each day. I knew that we were all dying a little each day beforehand, but I guess things are made more "real" when you are diagnosed with something you KNOW could kill ya anyday, make sense?
I am also scared of burning to death, to me, that would be a horrible, horrible way to die! Well, come to think of it.............I think most of my fears have to do WITH death, like I was just going to say I am also scared of drowning (because I did almost drown once)..............so see, the more I think of it, my fears have to do with ways of dying............strange huh? Then, I am one of the "lucky ones" to get CFK!
Funny how life is sometimes, ain't it??!!

It feels odd to say this, even to me , but I can't think of anything I'm really afraid of. I used to get scared as a kid by certain situations but I did what I had to do and that was it. I'm not afraid of snakes or bugs or heights or clowns or foods (fools frighten me a bit mind you but not fear, fear) or death. Oh ya, I'm a little scared of bears because off past bad experiences in the bush but basically if I feel afraid I figure I'll just deal with it if something bad happens. I do have fears for others, like my donor, my nieces and nephews but for myself not really.
However I can think of many things that make me angry.

Oh yeah. I'm afraid of balloons near my face. I had one burst in my face when I was young that caused some damage. In general, I'm not crazy about rubber (plastic ?) balloons period. Give me one of those silver ones any day though!

THis one was tough, but I finally thought of my fear...
When I was 3 I ran out to the car by myself, jumped in and kicked the car out of gear... It rolled backwards into another car (on a hill) Now if I am the passenger and you park me on a hill with my back on the lower side, I slide over and put my foot on the brake till you get back in the car, I can almost feel myself going backwards

Thanks for the reminder of my fear Kim...I am afraid of rolling over in a vehicle. I don't do well at off roading because if the vehicle starts to tip my toes curl. ACK! Gimme a FLAT surface to drive on!

We all have our fears and things that wll just cause our heart to race. One of mine (and I have more than one) is snakes. Here is a picture of one I named "Gentleman Jim" since he "buzzed" with his tail to let me know he was about 6 inches from my paintbrush this morning. He is a hognose (So my husband tells me) and is about 40 inches from head to tail. I was painting a retaining wall and as I moved towards his spot, he let me know he was there. What a jolt my heart took!
What scares you?

Awaiting lab results.
I am not afraid of heights, spiders, snakes or broccoli, but the one thing that will get my heart racing is awaiting lab results. Truly, I can't think of anything else.

Wind is a big fear of mine. I have a lot of dreams about tornadoes and things like that, even though they're not that common here.
I don't like crowds either, but I think that has something to do with my vision issues. I remember being in a mall, just as Santa Claus arrived. The empty space we had been in was suddenly filled with kids. I froze. I'm not even sure if I was breathing. I was with a friend who almost had to carry me out. Once we were outside, though, I was fine.
I also have an issue with the phone. I don't answer phones. Thank God for caller ID and voice mail. I'm worse with making phone calls. If I really need to make a call, and I can't get someone else to do it for me, it takes a while to psyche myself up to make the call
My mom doesn't like heights. I remember, we were at a hostel in Halifax for hospital patients, and we wer on the 8th floor, which was the top. I went over to the window to look out. It was open, but only about an inch or so. She grabbed me and pulled me back. She always makes me sit in the window seat when we fly.

I'm also afraid of being left.. not left behind, just left..
In my lifetime, I've had 6 friends, and the first two I made when we moved to PEI when I was 11. Before that, I was pretty much a loner. Of those 6, 2 have died, 2 have moved out west, 1 is elusive and only shows up when he wants something, and the last is pretty much the only one I have left. The 2 that died were friends I had in high school, and it's kind of weird, but with them gone I kind of feel like part of my history is gone too. On a good note, the other day, we found out that the killer of one (the other died of natural causes) has decided to drop his appeal and stay behind bars, but I'm digressing.
The one friend that I have left lives in New Jersey, so we're not close geographically, but (as far as I know anyway) we have no secrets. When things have gotten too much, we've always vented to each other. I'm afraid, though, that one day she's going to decide that I'm just too crazy and she'll disappear, and I'll be the same lonely person I was when I was a child. Sometimes I feel like she's already gone, or that she's keeping me at arms length, which goes along with the paranoid delusions that I mentioned in the pity party thread. I'm afraid to ask her about it, in case it pushes her away.
