India is the spice capital of the world.  I used to work with a few interns at the Hyatt in Key West who were from India, they/we would cook once a week or so and it was always excellent.  I really like to eat with my hands, as opposed to silverware.

my husband made me chana dal, basmati rice with peas, and tofu tikka masala for dinner. He learned to make it authenitcally from a Sikh friend of his while living in Belgium a few years ago. It's better than anything I've had at an Indian restaurant. Because Indian food is very salty, hubby has learned to make it without adding any salt and cutting out much of the oil. But my FAVORITE part is the Indian spice tea we have after..mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Being a vegetarian too, I have found plenty of veggie burgers from different chains, as well as at the grocery store. Here in Canada we have Harveys - great veggie burgers, Kelseys too and at the store I like President's Choice from Loblaws and also Boca burgers. Throw them on the George Forman or bbq and no one knows the difference!!

There are a number of very excellent veggie burgers on the market.  I especially like the veggie rib patties though.  Cook those up on the grill....mmmm.

Has anyone tried Culver's butter burgers.  My husband thinks they're the best.  I actually prefer a good homemade burger from my own backyard grill.

Culver's burgers are good I agree, but I like their cheese curds better.

Jack in the Box Ultimate Bacon Cheesebruger.  When it is served to you piping hot, it is delicious.

never have been a burger fan.  as a kid when my dad would grill out i would catch black ants and smush them into the patties.  yea, i know...so wrong....but then i would eat a hotdog.  >:D
i would prefer a chicken fried steak.  at the ly-kan restaurant in lyons, it's the best chicken fry ever.

So far it seems like the best burgers at burger joints no where around here dammit, lol,  i would love to try that Double Bacon Cheeseburger at Jack in the Box but just the thought of it has my arteries screaming, lol,  i feel guilty if i take a bite of my hubby's double cheese burger at McDonalds.  I always order my Big Mac with no cheese,  let me tell you, there is a definet difference with no cheese, blah, but hey, gotta do what i gotta do huh?  dammit all to hell anyways :P

We are just the opposite, we will take fast food over a fancy restaurant any ol' day.   That is why i wanted to know about different burgers and where they are from just in case we take a road trip somewhere, we are always searching for theee ultimate burger ;)   :P

George, i know your a good cook, i can tell ;)  How would you create a "perfect homemade burger"  To me that is usually the best tasting burger, i love to hear the different ways people cook them, like my cousin puts onion, cilantro and ketchup in his meat before he cooks it, i have to admit, it was quite good :)

If Me and a couple of the boyz are hanging out watching a Formula 1 race we put some coals on the grill and make these burgers.

Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Burgers with Bacon and Grill Red Onion Rings
Yields about 8 burgers

2# ground beef
1sm white onion - minced
1med Red onion - for grilling rings
1/4 bunch chopped parsley
1/2 bunch chopped cilantro
2tbls/6-8 shakes Worcestershire sauce
1 jalapeno chopped fine - keep seeds for extra heat
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
salt and fresh ground pepper

Add all ingredients in large mixing bowl and incorporate without over mixing.
Form burgers, cover and chill minimum 2 hours

You should know where to go from here.....make sure the grill is hot!

You can top these puppies any way you like.  I usually do cheddar and bacon and grilled onion, salsa and s.c. are good options, any any kind of cheese will be a hit.

Gawd - I reckon my husband will love the sound of those!

I make a good vegie burger, but the vegie patties I buy are ridiculously over-priced. I also use a fried egg, some cheese, tomato and mustard. Yum.

If I make my own burgers I like to put mushrooms, onions, garlic and Italian seasoning in the meat before grilling them.  I put just a touch of BBQ sauce on the outside of the patties so it crisps up a bit but not enough to effect the flavor much.

I like burgers grilled at home on the charcoal grill, with a toasted bun, cooked 'shrooms, swiss cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. Yum. Don't you dare put a raw onion slice on my burger (or in any of my food for that matter!)  ;D
