He is the love of my life......

« on: April 08, 2007, 04:47:12 PM »

I am one always in the mood for a good burger.  Reading the "what's behind the name" thread got me wondering, which is better?  White Castle or In & Out?   Although i believe the best burger is one always made on your very own grill, but what are your opinions on the "Best Burger"  no matter where it may be from?   ::)

Disuss?? :P

The only White Castle I have ever had is the frozen kind, so I would have to vote for my all time favorite In-N-Out!!
There's no White Castle on the west coast, is there?

Well the best burger I ever had was in a roadside place in New Mexico called BOBCAT BITE http://bobcatbite.com/menu.html - they put green chile on the burger and the meat is really great. MMMMMmmmmmm! If you're ever in West Los Angeles go to the Apple Pan -- they have a hickory burger that is to DIE for! And the pie is sooooo good too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Apple_Pan -- Oh man, I am going there soon.

For big chains, it's In-n-Out or Fuddruckers.  We usually go to Taxi's or Kirk's Steakburgers though, two local chains.    Kirk's meat is excellent, even cooked to death - like I like it.   :thumbup;

i'm rather partial to carls jr's $6 burger. if i'm in the colorado springs area there is a place called red top. they make a burger that is possibly the biggest burger in the world at least 9 inches across!!! and positively yummy.

White Castle is great and I've never heard of In-n-Out, but if your want a really great chain burger that tastes like a greasy spoon diner go to Schoop's.

Never heard of schoops either. I like going to the mom and pop restaurants because the still press their own and taste the best on a hard roll instead of a hamburger bun.

Schoop's burgers are not prebought patties either.  They are hand formed on site so you get all those jagged little crispy bits around the outside edge....mmmmm.

Mooreburgers are probably the best burgers anywhere but you have to be a Moore or a close friend to get one.  In N Out has ok burgers but they aren't really spectacular.  My favorite cheap burger is the dollar double cheese burger from Burger King.  I was bad this morning and had one on the way to work.  Quite tasty.

No In-n-Out or White Castle here.

Best here would be Fuddruckers or a local place called Fords Drive Inn.

To the best of my knowledge, we don't have either of those take-aways in Australia. Plenty of McDonalds and Hungry Jacks/Burger Kings, KFCs and so on (that goes without saying I guess).

Oh and can I add that - quite aside from the fact I'm vegetarian - I think meat pies are revolting things  :D - never understood our Aussie obsession with them.

I occasionally buy a "Vegie Supreme" burger from Hungry Jacks (Burger King) but I would prefer to get a curry from an Indian restaurant in all honesty.

Being a vegetarian too, I have found plenty of veggie burgers from different chains, as well as at the grocery store. Here in Canada we have Harveys - great veggie burgers, Kelseys too and at the store I like President's Choice from Loblaws and also Boca burgers. Throw them on the George Forman or bbq and no one knows the difference!!

Indian Curry is a little too spicy for me, however authentic indian cuisine does have some excellent entrees.
