The Steelers won the playoff in the 1st half  24 -3. The team did not want to have New York look bad, so they played the 2ND half as if they were newbies to the game. That's just Pittsburgh, Diplomats to the core. This is my story and I'm sticking to it.

OH NO!  Is there going to be a 2011 NFL thread on IHD??  Will there be a 2011 season?  Brady and Manning have already filed lawsuits against the NFL...we may be reduced to watching THAT!  Manning's lawyers vs NFL lawyers...doesn't that sound like fun!? ::)

Ironically, I think the owners might have preferred that the players' union stayed intact.  Now that it has been decertified, the players can individually sue.  Brady and Peyton Manning have already lawyered up.  The owners may need that extra billion so that they can pay their own legal fees.

That's a good question.  Yes, I probably would.  Players don't seem to have much loyalty to teams these days.  They go where the money is, and that's certainly fair enough.  When your favorite player gets traded from your team, do you stop watching your team? 

Many many years ago, I watched the Houston Gamblers when they were trying to set up an alternative summer football league.  The QB was none other than Jim Kelly, and it was really fun to watch. 

I can't escape the feeling that the players are sort of redundant.  The success of the NFL seems to be grounded in the corporation of football, the culture, the merchandising, the cultivation of team loyalty as opposed to loyalty to a specific player, the TV rights and the incessant analysis.  Not to mention the gambling!!!  All of this could easily continue with "scabs" on the field.  But that's just my opinion.

The draft is getting me excited for some football. 
The Giants chose a CB, Prince Amukamara for their first pick.  A defensive player, surprise, surprise.  For their second round they chose Marvin
Austin, a defensive tackle.  Their third round they chose a 5'9"wide receiver, Jerrel Jernigan.  This is an interesting choice.  Not only can he catch, he can run and throw too.  He used to be a QB.  I hope the Giants don't go to the wildcat offense.
We will have to wait to see who they pick in the 4th round.  They do not have a 5th round pick but they have three 6th round picks and one 7th round pick.

The Lions Defensive Line will be murdering QBs, starting with Josh Freeman in Tampa Bay! I would have loved to have gotten Prince, but Giants picked him up. Our secondary is shaky at best, but our D Line... We are going to be hurting folks!

4th round we picked up a huge kid.  Offensive Tackle James Brewer.  He is 6'8" 335.  The notes say that he will probably put on another 15 pounds once he starts working out with the Giants. That is one big boy!  We rounded out the draft with 2 linebackers, a safety and a running back.
