My lack of electricity due to Hurricane Earl meant that I had absolutely no idea that this drama was taking place, and with one of the dearest people I know.  I had to read the thread from scratch today.  When I got to the place that it was certain that she would get the kidney, I burst into tears of joy!

Hey all!  Back up at the hospital (after leaving this morning at about 6 for a few hours rest)

Mom (Paris) is doing good -- she is able to have fluids and even eat if she feels up to it.  Her "peebag" is filling up nicely :)

The Dr. said the spike in blood pressure post-op was fairly normal (although it was definitely higher than even the norm) he said the steroroids probably caused it.  Her BP is good now - no worries there.

I still haven't seen her -- Dad has gone home for a few hours - Melissa (my sister) and I are hanging out in the waiting room.  She is still in CCU, with the possibility of moving tonight or early tomorrow.  I will post room info as soon as I have it!

I posted this on facebook - but for those of you who haven't seen it yet - here is Mom getting her last bp and temp before going into surgery.  It still wasn't feeling real at this point!

Just saw Mom - she looks AMAZING! Can't believe how great she looks and feels! She is getting her Arterial Line out at 6 - then later tonight she'll be transfered to a new room. She's in good spirits - but obviously sleepy. Her nurse (Mike - who is amazing!) says she is a model patient - she has only pressed her me...d button 4 times all day! So proud of her!

Here is her first post-op photo!  Pee Bag shot to come later!

Paris,

I read your story about your plasmapheresis treatments and it scared me to death. I need the treatments and I hope it will enable me to receive a transplant again. I was giving up hope when I read that your treatments didn't work for you and now here you are.... HERE YOU ARE with a new kidney... you have really inspired me to keep on going and it is truly amazing. The tears in my eyes right now represent new hope...

new hope for  a new beginning.
