The Daily Positives

      My daily positive.  I am at dialysis, and have the two nuses and techs I like the most ( because they take good care of their patients) the best.

I am so glad that Rob is getting good care.

I had a really fun science session with my kindergarten and first grade students, and I was able to get the science activity for the older students ready. Teaching science is labor intensive. I'm really glad to have it under my belt for this week.

Pilates baby, pilates.  Managed a well nigh impossible move today without falling over...well one side went well...the other side went, well, over.

Science projects are done!  Whew!  The history projects are done, too!  On to the persuasive essays!  One is down, two to go.

Hubby had a good day today and we went riding on the 4 wheeler all over our place!

We took hubby's mom to visit her sister at the retirement home we are planning to place her in.  She loved it and wants to go live there. She is really confused though so by tomorrow she may not want to go again.  When we do take her there we will do it on one of her good mornings!!  We were so glad she liked it - she talked to a lot of people there that she knows. Another postive is that Hubby's sister is on side with us for placing her there. Only took her a couple of days of her mom living with her to realize what we were going through and why we were going to place her there.

My positive today --  Katy is getting on a plane to Ft.Lauderdale (she lives in Ohio) then driving to Miami.  The children will be on a plane tonight out of Haiti.  This may actually be the day that Gracie is with her Mommy      What a week it has been.  But it is all worth it if the children are out of Haiti, safe and with their families.   Our family is still saying lots of prayers.  We just want the last pieces of the puzzle in place and Katy and Gracie united.    Thank you to all who have kept them in their prayers.  It took everyone's prayers to make this happen (and thanks to the US government for quick actions)

Del, hugs to you and Walt (and his sister). I know this has been a difficult decision to make. So glad his mom is on board for the time being.

Paris, as always, I hope everything goes smoothly and this week's roller coaster ride can have a happy ending.

For me, my positive is that it is a Friday and I don't have an overwhelming amount of work to do this weekend. Yea!

Dan, you are NOT going to screw up your day!!!  My positive is it is a beautiful sunny day and I just got back from a nice refreshing walk with my hubby!!  Had to wear my skidoo suit though because it is so cold - -15 celcius!!

Ok, here's a real major positive re IHD.
Kitkatz started a wonderful new thread called "Bible Study".  The first post was my favorite Bible passage.  I love the idea of working with specific passages especially with the question asked "What  does this mean to you".  Though I love it I won't get involved until I see which way others are going to take it.  But Kudos to  Kitkatz.

I'm off in a minute with my lovely sisters to look at a peice of land one of them has just bought near a beach.  We're planning a beach house on it.  What fun.  My positive would be ten fold if I could convince Dan to come for a trip out here to enjoy it with us!!!

I love this thread.  it needed bumping!  My positives for today are that I got an excercycle and could only do 1 minute on it first day, but managed 5 minutes yesterday - thanks chat room peeps who waited and timed me lol.  Also have just eaten - quite happily - toast with salmon and pepper.  And it was yummy and nice.  This is huge for me.

The man who bought the family restaurant after my dad died called and told me he had found a family photo album while sorting paperwork.  I picked it up today - it's the little "School Days" album that my mom put together for my sister - report cards and all, from K thru 12.  Wahahahahaha - nothing like bad 80's haircuts to make you giggle!

I have a few positives, all from yesterday:

My older son was at ice skating class and has apparently started gliding on the ice rather than walking, and he can now keep up with the rest of his class when they go around the olympic-size rink. He had never been on skates until about 3 weeks ago.

While the older boy was at class, the 3-year-old and I were watching tv in my room, and my son randomly started saying "A is for apple, B is for bear...." He went through the whole alphabet, and only needed help with 4 letters or so.

I received a very nice email from the surgeon who will perform my transplant, going over some of the risks that I was concerned about with the clinical trial. I had been getting worked up, and starting to waver on whether or not I could really go through with this. Everything he wrote made perfect sense, and allayed my fears entirely. I am going to go through with this - in exactly 7 weeks.

My positive for today....I went with my SIL to her chemo clinic, listened to the financial aid worker and it sounds like there will be some help there.  My SIL is on of the 47M Americans with no healthcare coverage as she can not afford the premiums.  So, hearing that there will be some help for her made my day!

Aww. Looney. that is great news.

I get very annoyed at a "friend" who says that people without medical coverage are in that position because they are trying to work the system. I know better!

Aleta...you can tell your friend that these are people who have worked all their lives to take care of themselves.  This area is THE poorest county in Missouri and the jobs here don't pay much more than min wage.  They have a small farm that is paid for and he worked two jobs until he had a stroke at age 63 in 2008.  She has been his caretaker ever since.  But paying for health insurance on a single disability income is just not do-able.  His health insurance is through Cobra from one of the jobs he worked when he had the stroke.  She has no insurance and could not work outside the home after his stroke.  So...more than a third of his disabilty income ($900 a mo) goes to Cobra every month.  What savings they have is used to pay for utilities, car insurance and co-pays for his medical care.  Now it will be gone just for her initial care.  They have never accepted any type of assistance in the past and just convincing her to accept the financial aid was a tough job as she was more inclined to decline treatment because they couldn't afford it.  How sad.  But that is part of the problem with our healthcare system, it's based on priviledge rather than human rights.   

Well...got that off my chest!  It was still a positive for my day!

      My positive today, got to go in early to dialysis which means I'll get out early.  Now, just I feel like enjoying the rest of the day afterward.

Aw, thanks Aleta! I feel at peace with the decision, now. Now I just need to hear that Carl got the call.
