This is 'Becky', we found her in our ranch subdivision. We posted a lost Chihuahua found sign  on the subdivision entrance for several weeks and no calls so we assumed she was abandoned. There is only one entrance to the area and every one passes the sign. She is so gentle so if nobody comes for her we are going to keep her.

I love my Chi. Some of you remember Bucky (rest his soul ) I missed him so much, within 2 months I had to get another to help with my grief. These are a few pics of Bucky first, then my new mutt, Barney. Both long hair Chihuahuas. Barney (muttley) is now a year and 5 months

The long haired variety make them look better to me. Haven't seen one in real life, but thinking if hair is right it may look like a even smaller collie than the sheltie from a distance.

Muttley there, his fur is long around his head , neck  until the mid back area. It then goes short - sort of like a lions main. When he gets upset or someone he doesn't know knocks on the door, that fur fluffs up and makes him appear twice his normal chest size, and his "beard" does the same, so CUTE lol

Our newest pet, a 8 week old Chocolate lab that happens to have all his akc papers. He is a full blooded english bloodline lab for whatever that is worth. If so, then we got him for a steal of a price.

His name is Bailey, as in Irish Cream Bailey's  :rofl;

It was a total surprise to me and that my dad followed through. His initial thought was that we could train him to be a guide dog, but after telling him no, we can't just do that. Schools are specialized in what to look for in a guide dog as a pup and then train them for 2 years before I even get him or her. So he then sai well do you still want one incase wI do not get a guide dog and I said YES! So Monday we had 2 breeders lined up to look at labs and golden retrievers.  We went to closest breeder before hiking up state for 2 hours and we got lucky. The extra $100 it cost to get him about equalled what it would have cost in gas to go up north. The surprise was his bloodline and all the papers, hip checks, shots, dew claws removed for the price we paid. Usually a dog like this is over $1K easily. As much as I would like to help a shelter dog, I did not have that choice and my dad was thinking of our cats saftey also. Fireworks and the other dogs barking in excitement do not bother him surprisingly (his hearing is fine).

I have a cat (Tuula) & a dog (Timo). They get along so well and play together so much that sometimes I wonder if the dog thinks he's a cat and/or the cat thinks she's a dog! LOL!

The dog is a mutant Pomeranian (17 lbs!) Even though he's full blood, the vet thinks somewhere in his lineage a Chow got in there.
The cat is an Oriental who thinks the dog is the best toy we ever got for her!

I love looking at all the pics and stories on here about pets. We have 2 cats and 1 dog. D is constantly suggesting that the cats find the nearest exit. He is not really a cat person. At all.  But he can't really do much about it since he brought the first one home for me!  Her name is Noelle, since she was a Christmas present for me. She is jet black with green eyes and coming up on 3 years old. Although she is now fully grown, she can't weigh more than 5 or 6 lbs. It's like she just stopped growing one day. Kinda weird. D and I have come to terms with the fact that she may also be "special"  :urcrazy;  I won't go into all of it but we have had numerous reasons to think that. LOL
Our other cat is my stingy baby, Zoey.  She is gray and white and gorgeous!  Only problem is, she knows it!  Walks around the house like she is Queen of the Universe.. Only love she gives is to me. And that is only if she decides to grace me with her presence in my lap. Like I said - STINGY.
Our dog is a pure bred English Mastiff.  Her name is Duchess and it fits her to no end!  She truly is the baby though. AND SPOILED! When we got her, she got sick with Parvo and almost didn't make it. Luckily, we had a great vet and I didn't really need to sleep for about 3 weeks...  She is perfectly healthy now and is like our child. Pouts and throws attitude and lets us know when she believes she is being mistreated. She weighs apprx 170 lbs now and still doesn't realize how big she is. She also acts like she is being tortured if she doesn't have constant physical contact with one of us. Leaning her whole body against us or plopping down on out feet is usually her favorite spot. I will post pics soon!

If my cat were human, I'd spend a lot of time washing her mouth out with soap.  I just know half of what she yells at me is NOT polite.

Sometimes Dora glares at me, but I'd hate to think she swears in my direction!  Gosh, she probably does though.

Okay, silly question for all cat staff ... do your cats have different meows for signaling different needs?  Or am I just loopy?  It's got to the stage where I can tell if either of my cats a) wants feeding, b) wants to go outside, c) wants a cat treat, or d) is just saying hello and wanting a general chat about this and that.  I'm pretty convinced that Mog also has a particular meow which he uses when he's wondering what on earth Dora is up to.

I spend far too much time in the company of cats ... I suspect I need a life.

Just off the top of my head - mine has a distinctive meow for:
Hurry up with the catnip.  Open it faster, fool!
Get up, you let my favorite water dish run dry. (She has 2.)
Get up and hold me, it's a thunder storm.
Open the door so I can sit on the balcony.
BIRD! BIRD!  BIRD!
Look, I caught my little toy hat!  (Again.)
Pick me up upside down.
Put me down now.
Pet me but don't you dare pick me up.
Go away and let me sleep.

and of course...
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

D may act all like he's not a cat person and he wants them gone.. but I bet you anything that if one went missing or something happened he'd be the first one running to fix things up!! They have a way of getting under most people's skin and taking control in such a way that you don't quite realise it till it's too late:)

All the cats I've ever had have had different meows and different meows for different things. It's funny but my husband & I used to be able to tell who was "talking" in another room by their meow. We only have the one right now but she lets us & the dog know exactly what she wants!
My husband used to say he was not a cat person but one of my cats chose him for me! She was my "greeter". She always met anyone that came to my home. The first date I had with my husband, she greeted him as usual BUT after he sat down, she climbed up on his chest and settled in as if to say, "He fits, let's keep him!" Needless to say, I followed my cat's advice. Over the years (we've been married 26) many cats have found his chest comfortable to lay on! I always say it's because he's "cat-shaped"!

Blokey stated quite categorically that he wasn't a cat person and he didn't like cats and he was only agreeing to get one to keep me happy ... yeh, right.  He wouldn't be without the little buggers now.  They do certainly get under your skin.

Dora and I were enjoying the sunshine this afternoon and, after failing to catch a dragonfly, she settled for a butterfly instead.  I feel a little guilty; my garden is a Mecca for butterflies but I seem to be enticing them in just so that Dora can play with/eat them.  To make myself feel better I let the sunlight catch my watch and laughed as she manically tried to catch the light reflection.  Her meows of frustration, coupled with flailing limbs, as it kept eluding her were the highlight of my day.

After puppy class I took Bailey to see Santa. Was to playful to sit still for a good photo, but he enjoyed all the treats given to him as they tried to corale him into a better pose. He was in heaven today, stopped at McDonalds on the way home and he got a couple dog treats thru the drive thru and then again thru the pharmacy drive thru.

Yay, I'm such a cat lady! I love and adore my baby Aphrodite! (well, we call her Aphy. Even though her full name is "Aphrodite Sapphire mynamelast")

she's a pure bred Ragdoll kitty who is now one years old. And in the last picture, you will notice. It's her "Baby daddy" or my boyfriend. (We like to refer to him as that. He actually doesn't mind and embraces it. Whenever he leaves he says "Daddy loves you") That picture is on my desktop. :P

Anyways, she is the light of my life. She brings sunshine and happiness. She never bites. She LOVES to cuddle and snuggle herself right against me. (And DJ if he's staying over, she will actually try to sleep as close as possible) She doesn't like wet food, prefers her dry food. And is pretty lazy actually. She won't play with her "feather-on-a-stick" toy. But will insist on carrying it around the house. Or. just bring it into bed while poking me with it. And she has a thing for jumping at anything that has chicken in it. (But will refuse to eat cat food with chicken) Anyways. :) Enjoy!
