Whew - got thru my 3 straight weeks of NxStage training, where I didn't really have a lot of time to think about exercising, and now I'm home and back to regular workouts.  My goal is 30 minutes every day now.  I got off to a good start with the last three days, but with the 3 weeks of slacking and only doing a couple of workouts during that time, my calves are letting me know it!

WTF?  Oh well, i am hoping it starts warming up again cuz I really do need to get in there and bad :)

88 = cold?  You gotta be kidding me, right?   :urcrazy;

Missed this morning's workout again, but made up for it cleaning at my gram's house.  She tripped and sliced open her head late last night, and I went this morning to clean up the mess.  Nothing like a little arterial spray to make a huge mess.  It looked like a crime scene.  She fell on the bedroom floor, doused the bathroom all over, then went out to the living room to call 911.  I asked her why she didn't just grab the phone in the bedroom.  We installed one in every room for a reason after all. . .   Gram says, "I didn't want to get blood on the bedsheets."   :banghead;  Right, because the living room carpet is soooooo much easier to clean. . .   Bless her heart!  Thankfully she's fine, but I figure I don't need a workout after doing 3 hours worth of scrubbing and running up and down stairs to her washer and dryer.

I had to laugh at the neighbor who called me early this morning to let me know what was going on.  She's also elderly, and walks with a cane, so she wasn't capable of cleaning anything.  She told me I wouldn't believe how much mess even a small amount of blood makes.  Ummmmm.... I didn't laugh - or bother to explain why I knew EXACTLY how much mess it could make!

Although 88 is ideal weather it is too cold to go swimming (for me that is) ;)   And it has been dropping down to the 60's at night,  and i am usually still in the water at night  ::)

Omg, i havent been to the gym in months.  I definately feel it.  But tomorrow i will get back.  Since it will be a dialysis day i am only going to walk on the tread mill, then thursday i can do the crosstrainer and weights.  I need to get my blood pressure under control.  Perhaps the only thing  that really needs to be done is lowering myh dry weight.
It got up to over 100 today.  Sometimes i like to walk around out here in the country but i would probly collapse before i walked around the drive.

I'm with you Zach...been working crazy hours; 10 -12 hours a day, some weekends. The good news is that business is up (I'm in sales); the bad news is that all work and no play make Jill cranky!!! The other good news is that I am on a fun business trip in NY right now and I will go home right into vacation until 8/19.

I am determined to get back on the exercise gig while on vacation.

It felt like we walked a million miles when in NY, so I feel like I got some exercise. But in the 4 days since I have been home I did very little. Today I had a brisk 45 minute walk - before it got too warm. I hope to do that everyday for awhile, if I can. The gym... I should do that too... maybe in a few more days  ;D

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 40 .............Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks. Then try 50-lb potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.) After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

I fell of the wagon too. I thought I'd exercise more this summer, but the heat outside made me change my mind. I did better in the winter doing exercise vidoes.
Now that it won't be so warm, anyone want to exercise again?  This is a fun thread.  :bandance;

I feel disgusting since I haven't exercised in months due to my AVN pain... gaining 14 lbs in a few months upsets me and I feel maybe I should just cry thru the exercise just to lose weight... hmmm

Everyday I wake up with the intention to at least go on a walk....but then my bed looks so much more inviting. That's probably a bad habit. I think once I go back to work, I'll want to exercise more, or at least that's what I'm telling myself  ;)

I started running about three weeks ago with the goal of getting in the best physical condition possible should the day come that I am fortunate enough to receive a transplant.  I have been feeling noticeably better physically and even more so emotionally than I had just a month ago.  I have also noticed an improved appetite and better sleep too.  The mind and body seem to work together so when one is good the other has a better opportunity and if one suffers the other is more likely to suffer as well.  I should have been doing this months ago but I guess everyone moves at their own pace.

I have a question, I am wondering how likely it is that someone like myself would gain weight from this type of activity.  I am 5'10" (sorry don't know metric) and 69 kilos, not much fat on me but not much muscle either (no oversized biceps).  Right now I am running 3.5 miles almost everyday, I miss occasionally on dialysis days.  Any thoughts?
