The dietitian gave me permission to eat high phosphorous foods since I was getting muscle weaks due to low phosphorous blood levels.  My phosphorous was 0.94.  Normal is between 1 -1.60.

I bought some plan yogurt which was yummy mixed with blueberries and honey.  But I only had a couple of spoons ful.  I couldn't seem to eat any more.  Same with cheese, one little slice and that was it. Didn't seem to like the taste of cheese, could be cause it was normal cheddar and I know I like more stronger cheese like blue cheese, but didn't feel like buying any until i know what a little diary a day does to my phosphorous levels.

My boyfriend suggested ice cream. He gave me 1 little scoop about 1/3 of a cup and I at 1 tbsp and gave the rest to him, didn't like the taste or texture. 

Part of is it I think i mental, I 've been living 5 years without milk, diary, etc. I use milk in baking and cooking but not a lone.  Any other recommendation on higher potassium based foods or other ideas on what to eat that contains diary.  But that doesn't stand alone.

when i need to raise my potassium i eat a blt with avocado! obviously if your pos is that low you should skip the binders and it should come up.

when i need to raise my potassium i eat a blt with avocado! obviously if your pos is that low you should skip the binders and it should come up.

You would think that they would have told her to do that!  Hum, Im curious as to why they didnt.

May 13, 2009, went to urgent care with shortness of breath
May 19, 2009, went to doctor for severe nausea
May 20, 2009, admited to hospital for kidney failure
May 20, 2009, started dialysis with a groin cath
May 25, 2009, permacath was placed
august 24, 2009, was suppose to have access placement but instead was admited to hospital for low potassium
august 25, 2009, access placement
January 16, 2010 thrombectomy was done on access

grilled cheese sandwich on multigrain bread with chocolate milk

or have a couple of chocolate bars and drink a can of coke

Nov 5, 2011 - diagnosed with ESRD, unknown cause
Nov 14, 2011 - PD catheter insert
Nov 15, 2011 - Started PD
Oct 11, 2012 - received a kidney from my mom, 3/6 match
-kidney wasn't filtering properly. 2nd surgery 4 days later to re-position kidney. Accident happened and kidney got damaged. Internally bleed 1.5 L and needed a transfusion. 3rd surgery to sew up the damaged kidney.
-anaphylactic shock to thymoglobulin
-ATN and rejection
-sleepy kidney waiting to recover

I'm only one 1 binder a meal and they want me to stay on that cause it's also for calcium.

I ended up getting use to the yogurt and i cooked with some cheese this week.   They did blood work yesterday and we will see where it's at.

Hopefully your phoshorus will be fine then.  Sometimes, I wonder just how accurate these blood tests can be. I know there are times I question the results of J's.  But next month, it is something totally different!   :banghead; Go figure!

Hey, I love yogurt. I eat a Yoplait at least once a day!  :2thumbsup;

Same for my wife.  1 seems kinda low to me.

Anyway, pizza would be an excellent choice to get phosphorus up.  Get a frozen pizza for cheap and even throw some more shredded cheese on top.  Ice cream sandwiches would also be a good one.  And finally any kind of cereal since most are made of whole grains.  Obviously the rice and corn ones are best if you're trying to keep phos levels down.

I found out this week that greek yougart is actually ok. It has a lot of protein in it. But to only eat 4oz.

You mentioned higher phosphorous and at the end of your post you said Potassium.  Beans are high in phosphorus and so is molasses... in fact molasses is the highest in phosphorous as far a volume. 

As far as potassium Swiss Chard is about the highest veggie there is for that.  One cup raw is almost 1,000 mg potassium

I envy you so much, what I would give to have some good old fashioned CHEESE  :yahoo;

Molasses is very high in potassium, but has very little phosphorus.

A cup of boiled swiss chard has nearly 1000 mg of potassium. A cup of raw swiss chard has 136 mg.

Just make sure you don't overdo potassium while you're trying to raise phosphorus.

Doing labs on J tonight.  Hopefully his PTH is coming down as he is taking Sensipar now! The SW got little copays of $5.00 along with m'care & secondary ins.  We shall see how it goes!

River, you can still have your cheese, just not alot of it & not as often, but you can Enjoy it still!
You can have cheese in small amounts. Yesterday my lunch was 2 1/2 oz of brie and 2/3 oz of smoked English cheddar, with most of a baguette. There's only 50 mg of phosphorus and 40 mg of potassium in an ounce of brie. 143 P/27 K in an ounce of cheddar, but with the good stuff, a little goes a long way.

A little bit of cheese, a lot of bread, maybe some veggies and a little cold chicken and it's a perfect picnic lunch.

When my phosphorus was low (2.8) my doctor told me to eat some ice cream.  I choose New York Super Fudge Chunk and turned off the phone.  What a  treat!

Restorer I'm so glad you posted that about swiss chard because I had read it wrong on nutritiondata.com 

I thought i was reading the raw one but i was reading the cooked data so now I can add it to my food list spread sheet I made for myself.  Same with Molasses, 1 tbs isn't something I can't have once in a while. 

I do eat a little cream cheese, sour cream, cream and Brie but I stay away from my favorites like Blue and sharp cheddar because one oz isn't enough for me... I want it all!!!!  better not to have it around then to lose control  :rofl; :rofl;

My phosphorous is now under control.  I bought some different types of cheese, blue, asiago etc and I grate it or add it to food.  So it gives a nice taste, but without over doing it.
