lately, I have been better at staying away from watermelon
but it is hard
and harder when it is so hot outside
I remember when watermelon was only a summer treat
now they are year round

I too love some watermelon, last timei tried to just eat a bit or two but couldnt stop after that so now i dont have any. I used to love just taking a jug of water milk,or kool ade and just chugging str8 from the container, God i miss that

1999: transplanted kidney removed
2001: parathyroidism
2006:march, fstula cant be fixed due to too many stents in damaged vessels caused by temp caths
2006: april, Pd catheter placement
 PD would not drain properly
2006: finally after much pain and misery, AV Graft placed in abdomen, its working fine thank god
Quit dialysis sometime in 2009, had a change of heart and  returned before I died
transferred waiting list time to another city/state and was transplanted almost right away August 9,2013

I miss having a giant glass of ice water sitting next to me while I'm sewing or crafting.  I've got a huge glass mug that was a trophy from a shooting contest.  It holds about a liter of water.  I could drink it all before the ice even melted.  Ahhhhh. . .fond memories!

Anything with tomatoes sends my readings over the top, so I avoid it.

What I really crave is my old appetite back and ability to eat hot and spicy stuff, even though eating once a day does save money.

If I didn't feel like crap, I would like some chilli, spicy, hot, and cheese and onions on top.

I am like some others that have already said...........they miss milk...........I sooooo miss that too; however, I must say that I really do like the Rice Dream "milk".   I DID NOT like that Soy milk stuff, to me it was just a totally different texture and just did not taste good.   :puke;

Has anyone tried the Rice Dream milk?   Did you like it?

I buy the Trader Joe's brand of rice milk, unflavored. It's very similar to Rice Dream. I find that it tastes a lot more like real milk than soy milk. Not to mention, soy milk isn't exactly phosphorus-free either, while rice milk is pretty good in that respect.

Trader Joe's is a gourmet/health market. It looks like there's only one in Tennessee, in Nashville. They sell a lot of things under their own private label. I think their rice milk is organic, too, and cheaper than Rice Dream in other supermarkets around here (Southern California).

We have a Trader Joes the next town/city over. I like the blueberry juice they have and the cherry juice too. I will not drink soy ever again, once was enough! It was nasty and not gonna waste good money to try rice milk that may have the same outcome. They should have trial sizes for that stuff! :puke;

LARGER PORTIONS!

Before ESRD, I used to polish off a 15 ounce prime rib, medium rare.  My favorite food of all time.

But now:

15 ounce prime rib:  665 mg phosphorus

A renal diet is like being on Weight Watchers, only you don't relax the restrictions after you reach a goal weight.  You just keep right on going, and going, and going....

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017

Well since my last post about asking had anyone tried Rice Dream milk, I have since tried it and I LIKED it!   I even liked it so well, I could even drink it just from a glass rather than "drowning" it in some cereal to be able to drink it, ya know?   I just hate that a freaking carton costs almost the same as a whole gallon of regular milk, that part sux and that is why I can only buy that stuff every now and then. 

Anyways, lately my craving has been apple juice...........I don't know why but I just can't seem to get enough of it.   I can't think of any other cravings right now............

Annabella Chocolates has something similar here. The candy company was more famous in the 50's and 60's and now is a specialty candy company. They have a mint flavored one that isn't bad. When you come to Chicago I bring some if you haven't tried it.

A nice big baked potato with lots of butter and sour cream and salt and pepper. Or even a sweet backed potato. Also potato chips (Ruffles) with an onion dip.   :bandance;
