Cant you have a little rice and gravy?   :-(    Yum

Twirl recently i was in the store.  (i do the shopping go figure)
And i was looking at Turkey vs regular bacon.  Turkey bacon was higher in cholestoral and sodium.
Not sure if you were aware of this.  it threw me to say the least.  Thought Turkey would be better for me.

I do not want rice and gravy  :waiting;
I do not even really like turkey bacon ------ I think it is spam-ish
got it because the dietitian at dialysis says it is better than real bacon
I am going to challenge her to prove it to me
real bacon is better tasting

My little dogs have a big bark, but no bite. Yogi would probably find them annoying!

Tonight for dinner - Hubby made chicken quesadillas and we had left over beans and rice.

I always love how they say that.   Gee, I can keep taking the same meds and be able to eat more of all the things I love and crave oooooorrrrr I can cut out half a tablet a meal.  Ummmmm, lemme think. . . .   :urcrazy;

Dinner tonight was exactly proportioned and renal friendly - I had homemade chicken noodle soup, with the broth drained, so it was both low sodium and low fluid and a full serving of veggies.  I had a tangerine for dessert. I had a single ice cube and a 1/4 cup of water with it.

All right, I was good - now bring on the chocolate and the peanut butter!

I leave enough to make all the ingredients juicy, and spoonful or two at the bottom of the bowl.  It still tastes like homemade chicken noodle soup, but I don't end up with a fluid overload.  When I make cream soups, I make the "broth" so thick it's more like stew, and add lots of meat and veggies.  That's not as cheap as making a traditional soup, but it does help cut the cravings for a warm bowl of soup in the winter.

Tonight was sloppy joes and baby carrots, with a tangerine for dessert.  My gram got a whole case of tangerines from the Angel Food Network, and they are the sweetest tangerines I've ever had.  Yummy!  Good thing they are small, and reasonably renal friendly because of their size.

A baked pasta casserole with big chunks  of chicken breast,a little bit of diced fresh tomatoes and some broccoli, with a sauce of low-fat cream of chicken soup and a topping of chunky bread crumbs with parmesan cheese.  My aunt made it for us and it was good but if I had concocted it I would have used whole wheat pasta and multigrain bread crumbs, just because now I can post-transplant and I don't usually like to eat "white" carbs.  The good thing is she added no salt except what was in the soup and she diluted that with some low fat sour cream.  I made an arugula salad to eat with it.

I'm at work right now, but at home I have a pot roast slowly cooking in the crockpot.  I've been thinking about it all day.  A couple of little red potatoes, some carrots, and some onion chunks.  Mmmmmmmm... I can't wait to go home.
