Here are two upcoming events where kidney patients come together:

I guess registration might be closed ... since it starts this Thursday.

October 5-7: Renal Support Network (RSN) 3rd Annual National Patient Meeting, "Health, Happiness & Hope." Philadelphia Marriott, Philadelphia, PA. Patients from across the nation are encouraged to join us and interact with each other, healthcare professionals, and providers to share goals, support, and unity in a setting of "equals." For more information, contact the RSN at (818) 244-9041. E-mail: info@RSNhope.org. Website: www.RSNhope.org/programs/national_patient_meeting.php.

I just attended an RSN meeting today.  Very informative one day meeting.  The only problem I see with RSN is all of their speakers so far have been transplant patients.  When is a real dialysis patient going to show up and speak?  I have nothing against transplants (so do NOT start that war with me!)  but I just wish a dialysis patient would be represented in their speakers. It helps to see a real dialysis patient being successful.

Then maybe the AAKP convention is for you.  I've attended them in the past ... a good cross-section of speakers.     :)

A few  years back my spouse and I attended an AAKP convention. Going was expensive but worth it! Learned a lot and met some inspirational people. If I could afford it and get off school I'd go to every one, but unfortunately that may have been my first and the last for a long time. Lot's of lot's of dialysis pts. made arrangements for dialysis there. This one was in Memphis...

Could not persuade my son to go even though HE was the one on dialysis!! :-\

Oh wow, that's like, 2 or 3 hours away from me.  I'll have to check that out.

Is anyone from here going?

If ANYONE goes to some of these, please take some of our ihatedialysis official fliers.  It wouldn't hurt to put them with the rest of the brochures people take.

Good idea as long as it is allowed.

I wish I could go to the Renal Support Network (RSN) 3rd Annual National Patient Meeting, since it is in Philadelphia, PA. where my boyfriend lives .. but I can't plan a trip that soon in advance since I just got back to work. I think they would be like, "You had a whole year off! WTF!?!?!?" Also it is Thursday, Friday, Sat. I couldn't come because I would have to do Friday's dialysis in the States and I don't have coverage :(

Also that one is good because doesn't Lori Hartwell usually speak at that one? She has gone through so much! The first time she had to go on hemo she was only 2 years old!

Is anyone from here going?

I should be able to go considering that it is being held in my city only 10 minutes away but I would feel a little out of sorts going alone.  I really wish I could get Angie to go with me as I know she would enjoy it more then I.  Maybe someone from here would be willing to join me there?

I didn't see any mention of one coming to Florida.  I must have completely missed that.  I was about to ask last night, how you was only 2 or 3 hours away.  :o  quite the fast driver you are coming from Florida.  ;D  But it is really only a 2 and a half hour flight.
