The most dangerous cake recipe
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

That looks like the deal breaker. After eating it you go directly into a coma might be worth it though  ;D ...Boxman

We're eating ours right now!  Tastes good.  A little chewy.  Can't even tell it has so much fat.  We're splitting one, so it's not so bad, right?   >:D

I will try 2 minutes next time instead of 3 in our microwave.  I just checked and it looks like our microwave is 1500 W, so 2/3 the time or a lower power might be better.

I want to try this one - it's from Rococo by Adriana Trigiani (great book, too!)

It's a "fix your trouble with food" cake.

Our Lady of (Drown Your) Sorrows Cake with Heavenly Frosting

Cake -
3 Milky Way bars, cut into small pieces
3 Three Musketeers bars, cut into small pieces
3 Snickers Bars, cut into small pieces
1/2 cup butter
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 325.  Grease and flour a 9x13 pan.  Melt the candy bars and butter in a sauce pan.  Blend.  In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sugar.  Then mix in the shortening and eggs.  Beat well.  Slowly add the buttermilk, beating until fluffy.  Then add the vanilla and the candy bar mix from the sauce pan.  Beat well.  Pour into the pan and bake 60 minutes until done.  When the cake is still hot, ice with:

Heavenly Frosting
1 bag marshmellows, cut in half
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cups shredded coconut
1 box powdered sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
8 tablespoons heavy cream
4 tablespoons butter, softened

Place the marshmallow halves, sticky side down, on top of the hot cake.  Scatter the nuts over the marshmallows, then a layer of coconut.  In a bowl, whip the powdered sugar, cocoa, cream and butter.  Pour over the hot cake.  Serve when cool.

My friend Loretta and I tried this Mug Cake and we were laughing so hard when making it.  It was pretty good.  I'll use chocolate chips next time.

Goofynina and Epoman - Gone But Not Forgotten

WWW
« Reply #21 on: October 27, 2008, 12:51:40 AM »

just discovered this recipe and gave it a twirl (3.00 a.m.!!!)(pun intended!)  I am not a chocolate cake fan, but my daughter and grandson will surely enjoy it.  I didn't have any cocoa in the house and used Ovaltine instead and cut down on the sugar.  The bottom of it had some strange airholes, but the rest was great.  I sliced it in four and there were nice and spongy.  I think (1) I could have left the sugar as it was, (2) Must get that cocoa, though this was fairly good
This would be great when you have someone visiting and you could just make it quickly.

Thanks, Twirl! :cuddle;
