Oh twirl I hope you find her.
Can anyone suggest how to get a pill down a dog? Mine is now on an allergy pill and she has learned a new game: Find the pill... spit it out...and get another treat!! Help!
have you tried smooshing it up in some cheese?

I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with this.........my boy cat who is only like 7 years old, his right eye has been watering to the point where it looks as if he is crying. I wipe it off for him but his eyeball still looks watery. Do any of you know what could be going on with my baby boy? I would think it would just be allergies but I am not certain. Thanks to anyone for their input!

oh yeah I hate that how vets are so experiences(obviously) and just do stuff and it's so simple for them... then you try at home and... well... not so good....
I am greatfull for every day Celeste is happy and healthy and comes to cuddle with me.

paul.karen - thanks for the piece about the rainbow bridge. we lost one of our cats to hunting dogs last spring and I don't think I will ever get over that. It's hard for me to read the cat thread sometimes, but that was a bright spot.

Oh dear Twirl I cry out in anguish at your pain and wondering about your dear friend. I am no expert, and I could only find this link online to back it up: http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/vet00/vet00037.htmbut I feel that cats ARE intelligent and perceptive creatures. It is very possible dear Zuko has taken himself off somewhere quiet to die... maybe to spare you as much as anyone else (I know that sounds like a twisted sort of logic). I honestly don't know. I *do* know that cats often do not show when they are sick... as in they will do all they can to act normal even if they feel like crap.. but maybe there is a point where they do feel they need to go off quietly to make their journey to the rainbow bridge. I know it is so difficult for you to simply not know what has happened and that is the hardest part. I wish I could offer some sage words of advice or solace.. but I honestly have none. I sit here thinking "what if it was Celeste?" and I despair at the thought... all i can do is offer my empathy and thoughts that hopefully wherever Zuko is he is warm, happy and pain free - as all pets should be.

My cats eyes use to water once in a while, but not for long.. Maybe a couple of hours. I'm thinking he used to bump into something or one of the dogs stuck his eyeball with a toenail.
Tynywonder, is the eye still watering? Does he wipe at the eye? Does it seem to bother him or look crusty? Sorry, I'm not too much help.

Thank you MIbarra, but no, THANK GOD, his eye is no longer watering but when it did, it did not *seem* to bother him...........he just looked pitiful and would not let me "willingly" wipe his eye but maybe something got in it but he is better now. Thanks for your input tho!

Zuko sleep in the house last night and it does not look good but he purrs everytime we talk to him or give him any attention his eyes close and he starts doing that paw thing that neighbor took valved time away from us by not being with Zuko but I am thankful that I know he is not out in the woods being eaten by wild animals or ants or ever a gator but I do not think he would have made it to the river I am calling the vet again today they will not work me in without a 15.00 extra charge and we have had pets there for over 30 years grew up knowing that vet's office they have to let me come or I am going up there and sitting in the waiting room and casually remarking to other patients what is going on and how they can expect to be treated when their pet has a problem that is not scheduled he ate a little tuna and purrs like he always does but he is not the same twirl

Sounds like you need a new Vet. I went to a place and my appointment was at 11AM but my dog was crying and crying in pain and so I went in at 9:00. I sat in the waiting room as she was whimpering and they insisted on a $20 fee to work me in earlier. I was so pissed. Do they care for pets or not. Is money the only thing they care about.... then they don't get my business. I told them I'll pay the customer I cut in front of the $20 but not you. Anyway I paid the stupid $20 and then very loudly told the costumer waiting that I would pay her $20 because of the inconvenience I got out a $20 bill and forced it on her. She was horrified and said "no, no, no" and could NOT believe that the vet clinic was making me pay $20 to work me in when my dog was in pain. Then..... they misdiagnosed my dog and said it was her knee when it was infact her back and I had to put her down a month later. (at a different office) Plus I told another vet clinic about the $20 fee and they thought it was aweful. Tell them to shove it and go somewhere else. Call around and ask "if I have an emergency do you charge a fee for working me in"? I would also write a letter to the paper about your neighbor.... without naming names.

Zuko will never come back I took him to the vet and he purred the whole time we waited for an hour or so meanwhile, this couple brought in this beautiful big chow dog to have put down I asked the vet and he said the dog was very old and had problems when we went into the room I told them Zuko is dying the vet said there was something wrong with his lungs but the worst was he had a big tumor in his stomach and he was sure it was cancer and the surgery would be expensive and he was not sure about the outcome and Zuko was breathing real hard and he was purring I stayed in the room and the vet gave Zuko a shot and he died before the needle was out of his paw he cried two times when the needle was being inserted I was talking to him and petting him the vet and the assistant were both petting him and talking to him he knew them from other visits so I know where he is and that he is not dying alone and being eaten by other animals but .........
