7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.

I am at my son's freshman football game and it feels like it is over a 100 degrees out in the stands.  At half-time I go to my car to sit in the air conditioning because of my kidney failure I am restricted on how much fluid I can drink.  As I am walking back I see a woman standing next to her car.  She is just standing there so I ask if she is okay.  No response.  I ask again and again no response.  I walk around the back of her car towards her.  All of a sudden she passes out cold,  Perfect timing! I catch her before she hits the pavement.  Her eyes are open but she is not answering any questions.  An elderly couple were leaving so I called for them to call an ambulance.  He helped me get her comfortable then I went to my car and got a wash cloth to put on her neck.  She is fine.

I know that feeling, you loose hearing, confsion, yet  try to push on to get to were you want..

You can not always tell someone has them on and usually people who have them on and have a phone call do not pay attention to their surroundings.

Back from my first week of home hemo training. It was a week from h**l! I hadn't been feeling good since my last treatment in-clinic (last Saturday). Got there Monday morning, they took my temp and it was 103.4! I tried to stay awake and pay attention but I fell asleep. I ended up going to the ER after. They decided to keep me. I had pneumonia! Didn't even know it! It was so bad they put my in the unit that is one step down from ICU. That night, my fever spiked to104.9! I vaguely remember bits and pieces, mostly thinking I was going to die. I had always heard (as a kid) that nobody survived a fever over 104. Spent 3 days under a cooling blanket. Finally my fever broke and I was moved down to a regular room. Was allowed to go home Thursday. Went to the home hemo training one Friday and just broke down and cried. I felt so lost. My husband had continued to train and I had basically no clue what was going on. They are going to work with me next week and the week they come up to our house, the tech said she would stay longer to make sure I was getting it. I'm just worried I won't be able to catch up.

Wow that was a bit of a scare. Glad you are home now. Don't be worried about catching up. You might be home, but you are not completely able to absorb all the info. You've had a lot of stress with the pneumo etc. It might take a bit longer, but of course you'll get there. Stop worrying, that's just a waste of energy.

Sorry to hear CebuShan, that is not a fun experience to have. It is good that the nurse is working with you and not against you to teach you how to do home dialysis correctly.
