It's almost 1 am and I just finished talking with Becca. I may have found a ticket home from NY - it's $700 one way - Merry Effing Christmas - thanks Mother Nature.

good evening all.....

It is my daughter's 18 th birthday today and we went rowing on a small dam... really a pond nearby. We even had shampaign in the boat ... it was marvelous. I am having a xmas lunch with my mom and stepdad tomorrow... so wish me good luck. I am going to need it.

I will surely show some pics when I get back on the 3rd Jan.  We are only leaving on the 23rd... I can't wait.

Oh and I have only seen/ felt snow once in my life when I was in highschool. It very rarely gets that cold here in SA. I don't like being cold at all. >:(

A white xmas is just what we see on tv... we have a hot summer xmas and it is a very diffirent set of traditions... cold meats and salad with cold puds are obviously a better choice for us. and sometimes we just bbq the meat on a fire with salads. and we all have plastic xmas trees.

Give your daughter a big hug from me on this momentous birthday.

Enjoy it all. Gird up for the time with your mum. You'll get through it.

I feel blessed that my daughter and I have the kind of relationship so unlike the one I had with my own mother.

Great day to everyone.

Forgot what that is called here, but seen it on cooking shows here.
Hot Pudding is good and then when it cools, there is a slight skin on top. Custard I have had hot and cold too.

But aren't you feeling better now that sister n law is back home?  >:D :beer1;

Signing off for a while.

The presents are all bought, wrapped, and in the truck. The dialysis machine is packed away in its niche behind the driver's seat. The snacking food is organized in the fridge. Podcasts are loaded on the iPod. Tomorrow's clothes are laid out. The coffee is ready to brew in the morning and all I have to do is print out all the progress reports and GO TO BED! Carl is tinkering around with all the stuff packed in the bed of the truck (bins of dialysate, cart, needle jug, bin of clothes, etc, etc.

In the morning it is up and at it very early for that 15 hour drive.

I won't be posting again until Tuesday. And Tuesday night I find out if I have that very nice consulting job. Conference call with the presidents, dean of academic affairs and dean of the college of education that evening. So far it is looking very good! Wish me luck.

Ta ta, everyone!

I left the  house at 10:30 for church this morning. I got home at 11:30 tonight - it has been a long day.  It isn't family gathering until someone goes to the ER!  This time it was 10 yr old Kiara.  All nine grandkids were outside riding bikes, rollar blading and Kiara fell.  She is a bit of a drama queen, so when she came in crying a little saying she had fallen, we didn't rush to her. Then we saw her arm at a 90 degree angle between her wrist and elbow!  Ice, a sling, pillows and off to the ER.  Morphine drip, then finally totally sedated. Both bones broken and they aren't going back in place 100%, so soft cast for a few days because of swelling and they they will decide if surgery and pins are the next step.   The other kids were so very worried for her.  Especially when they heard she might have surgery.  The other 8 spent the evening making her cards and paper flowers.  Long day.    Going to bed--perchance to sleep.   Night all!

My little guy fell off a play set and broke both bones in his arm when he was 5.  He spent the weekend on morphine in the hospital.  They set them and used 2 pins.  It is just fine now.

Good Morning IHD - everyone must be sleeping in this morning.  Get up and smell the coffee.  Sunny day here and we are out of the single digits for temperatures.  Toasty 14 degrees this morning.  The big snow storm stayed south of me and for that I'm thankful.

countdown to Santa's arrival.  WOOHOO.

I'm thinking can't we do the ld fashion way o predicting since niether system worked exactly and could save money by not buying a computer?  :rofl; :rofl;

That is what I am hoping for!   :2thumbsup;     Thanks everyone!  Yep, never a dull moment.  Melissa has taken three of her four to the ER this year -- 2 for stitches and now Kiara.  We had all been joking all afternoon about which kid it would be this time.  They all play hard and are not sitting around playing videos, so the chances increase.    Now I have to do twice as much today because I lost time yesterday.

Sluff, sorry, just can't let you win for long.    :rofl;   :rofl;

Hi, everyone.

We had a pre-xmas lunch with my parents because we won't see them on Christmas.

We had a good day without any fighting....  :clap;

I am packing and it looks like we are leaving forever.... We take everything possible.. Like I tell hubby... "it is ten days you know." (and I am sticking to that excuse  :rofl;)
