 :birthday; to you son, Marc!

Things are not looking good with the company where my husband is a contractor.

My husband has already sent out 3 resumes, and called a few former colleagues. There is little more that he can do.

The day is winding down here at school.  :clap;

And a long weekend with good weather is in the works!  :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup;

I hope everyone has a great one. We have dialysis, each day, of course, but other than that, I plan to catch up on some relaxing!

Hey, Marc, I teach grades 1 - 5 in a mixed age setting. Fun, fun!

We got to leave school fifteen minutes early tonight because all the children had been picked up. Yea!

But Carl hadn't applied his cream early so we putzed around getting set up for dialysis, had dinner after he got on the machine and then I went out to swim.

Oh oh! He called with an alarm. # 14 - air in the dialysis lines. WTH? Then the PureFlow started alarming - #53  - fluid in the tub. The SAK had sprung a leak. Had to cut the treatment short.  :clap;

Big day tomorrow.  Zeke's first Pop Warner football game is at 8:30, Paxton's first game to cheer at is 9:30 then we all head over to Melissa's for a cook out.   About 25 of us and everyone will be bringing their specialties.  I have made pasta salad (with fresh mozzerella and salami), napa cabbage salad ( I add mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks and granny smith apple chunks, and deviled eggs.  It will be a nice day with family and extended family.   :2thumbsup;

Now he is an adult.
 :rofl;

I did remember for a bit ... I promise... then I went to theatre for my angio.

Please tell him that I say a belated 18th birthday from SA with love and hugs and all.

It is funny what a diff a day can make - one day 17 and the next .. an adult.

Morning all!

Last night's leak turned into a bigger problem! We could not get the PureFlow to work again without sending out an alarm. As is turns out, some moisture got into the heat sensor and damaged it. We will need a new PureFlow chassis. Won't be in until Tuesday or Wednesday.  :P

So we will be using bags until then. Will have to remember to turn the warmer on! The last time we used bags, Carl froze because he forgot to do that.  :rofl;

Hey, Marc.

For dialysis you have to use purified water so nasty stuff doesn't get into your system. The centers have these big purifiers, but those of us at home have smaller units. Mine sits on the floor under the dialysis machine and hooks into it. Every three days we mix up a batch of new dialysate through this nifty little machine. We had just started using a new batch of 60 liters last night. Apparently one of the factory fittings in the lines was loose (from now on we'll check that one, too!) It leaked into the tub that holds the 60 liter bag of finished dialysate. Somehow, that loose fitting also allowed air into the line, so our dialysis machine gave that alarm first and then the tub gave a "moisture" alarm. Alarms were going off everywhere (and to make it even more interesting, I was doing laundry and at the same time a load finished and the washer started beeping!)

The half inch of leaked dialysate in the tub also damaged the heat sensor that warns if the daylsate is not at the proper temperature. That cannot be reset here at home, so NxStage is sending a whole new chassis. This will be our third one since June. The first was damaged in shipping.

We keep pre-mixed bags of dialysate on hand, so until we get the new chassis for mixing up the dialyste, we will just hang bags. There is a separate warmer to warm the dialysate when doing that, though. One more step to remember!

Even with glitches like this, I would not willingly trade doing dialysis at home for going in-center. And that is one of the good things about having options for treatment. To each his own.

 :2thumbsup;
