He is the love of my life......

« on: July 06, 2006, 04:05:49 PM »

I remember watching Maury Povich one day and it was on Phobia's,   now there were many that were the typical phobias,  heights, snakes, spiders but there was this one lady who was afraid of heads of lettuce or cabbage...WTF??  but hey,  that was HER phobia, (guess it takes all kinds)  I on the other hand am afraid of Clowns and Mascots (anything in a mask or costume)  I never used to be like that before, must've started about 10 years or so ago and it keeps getting worse.   Do you know how embarrasing it is to be with the kids that are hiding from Chuck E. Cheese.  (shivers)  i just dont trust them,   OK, so i have shared my phobias with you,  What are you afraid of?  Come on,  share yours.........

SNAKES!   I had a run in with a rattler 3 and a half feet long when I was eighteen. He was crawling along and I almost stepped on him.  I screamed, and must have jumped back 50 feet all at once.  My friend's father was hiking with me and shot the rattler dead.  We had been out looking for their puppy afraid a snake had gotten him.  Pup came home safe, the snake was brought home and measured.  Geez!
The other day I was walking into Walmart and a guy has his boa constrictor out and was standing near the door.  I about freaked totally out.  I ran into the store.  A friend of mine had a ball python and her little girl would have it out.  When ever I walked up to the door the snake had to be put away or I would not come into the house.  Her girl thought it was a riot.  She would meet me at the door with the snake in her hands.
My girls would scream and run whenever they saw a spider.  One day a spider  lofted itself from the rearview mirror in my car.  I have never seen two people in a panic.  I own a Transam. I have never seen two people get out of the car so fast.  I thought I was going to lose them at 30 miles an hour while I pulled into a parking lot to get rid of the spider.  I had my sister on the cell phone at the time and she heard all of the screaming from my back seat. I had to take the spider out of the car. My oldest daughter opened the dishwasher and a spider crawled out of it.  She totally freaked out.
My classroom aide is terrified of feathers.  She said she used to have to pluck chickens as a child.

I thought we are not suppose to say our worst fear out loud because then the devil will hear and use that against us one day. That's what my mom used to tell me.   ;D

Well my worst fears are already well known.  I am claustrophobic.  But I am not 100% claustrophobic.  If I am in a closed in space, but the atmosphere is very pleasant, I can push my fear down, like travelling in a plane.  I also have a kind of reverse claustrophobia.  I cannot bear to be in a very large open field alone.
I also have fear of heights, but mainly in buildings.
My daughter (23) also has a fear of mascots, or people completely covered by a costume.

I get confused and dizzy in big crowds which is ironic considering I love big cities ( New York, Taipei, London, Paris whatever ..... I been to tons of huge cities )...

Well actually this happens mostly when I go to concerts and clubs where it's very dark.

I don't like heights either.  Rides that are like the Palm Springs Tramway take a lot of courage for me to go on them and someone to hold on to when I feel like screaming.
I hate crowds.  Big ones at amusements parks are annoying to me and I hate to get in the middle of one.  I try to stay out of the parade crowds at Disneyland. Once went to the Rose Parade.  Too many people, I left early.
I am a little leery of getting stuck in an elevator.  I have just a little claustrophobia and wonder if I would freak if I were stuck in one.
I also have to have my closet doors shut at night.

Poisonous snakes, heights, drowning, swimming in water that I can't see if there's things that are gonna get me (dark lake water hides gators, ocean water hides sharks, etc.).  Those are the main ones.

I´m afraid of crossing a bridge that crosses water. Also afraid of the IRS and black chickens.  I don´t know why the IRS gives me the creeps but just the thought of taxes and the like makes my hair stand on end!  When I have to drive across a bridge over water, I try to close my eyes and just steer! And have you ever looked a black chicken in the eye?  They´re evil. >:D

I can't say I am afraid of anything, allthough when I first got diagnosed I was afraid of my wife having to deal with being alone If I died, I was afraid of her being in need, I was afraid of her suffering, In fact the first night I had haemo I was in hospital crying because she was sad at home, and she was at home crying because I was sick in hospital, soppy bunch arent we.  ;D
