10 years on and off dialysis

« on: February 13, 2014, 08:48:43 AM »

Tomorrow I am taking my partner Drew away for the weekend to a nice hotel for a weekend of pleasure and pampering for Valentine's.
Four poster bed, valentine dinner with champagne, breakfast in bed, the whole shebang!!!!
He has been my partner for nearly three years. When we first met I had had my second transplant and was fit and well and enjoying life. Within 4 months
of meeting my kidney started to fail. I got sick, I was in hospital, I wasn't the same person. He could have run for the hills or left me, but he didn't. He
stepped up to the plate, stayed with me through everything and when I then caught a hospital superbug and was unable to even walk or look after myself,
he did everything for me. When I whinged or cried or wanted to give up, he remained as patient as ever. A year on, things are better but not perfect. He is still here!
So my Valentine's gift is to thank him for everything and for being an amazing partner, friend and carer through thick and thin.

 :guitar: happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Off Topic can not have anything to do with kidneys failed or working......

    :police:

I'll let it go this time as we need a thread on Valentine's Day!    :cheer:

I'm buying my friend Dean a balloon and tying a bag of homemade peanut brittle on it and delivering it to his work.  I'll pretend to be a delivery person and just leave.  I was not going to pay $20 for someone to deliver it.  I can do it as no one knows me there.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!  It sounds like you have thought about everything for a great time, Sugarlump.   :)

I love Valentine's Day but I'm a bit scared today!  My boyfriend is known for giving really strange presents.  Bag of apples, anyone?   ???

I got a vacuum cleaner for Christmas once from my husband.  Before anyone gasps in horror, I am one of the cheapest people on the planet.  I will whine and complain about something not working right for eons before I break down and buy a replacement.  Our vacuum was not cutting the mustard, so DH spent an afternoon on his own at the department store investigating vacuums and I am sure driving the sales person mad with questions.  Came home with a great vacuum that we both have used for years.   ;D  I've been complaining about our sump pump discharge pipe (it's frozen and needs to be unfrozen before the weather heats up next week) so if I come home to a length of new PVC pipe for Valentine's Day, I know he will have been listening  :rofl;

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!  It sounds like you have thought about everything for a great time, Sugarlump.   :)

Sugar, hope you have a wonderful weekend. Well deserved, for both of you. So, now, you have to suffer thru my Valentines story, cuz, well, we don't need two V-day posts. Bob and I got married in June of 1997. On V-day in 1998, we were married 8 months and we went out to celebrate. While we were gone, our house burned down!!! What a shock, to suddenly realize you had nothing except the clothes on your back and your cat who lost control at lease twice, while we drove around looking for a motel. (hint: Valentines Day, there are few if any vacancies.) But, in the end, it all works out, and you have to know that neither Bob or I EVER have left the house at the same time on Valentines Day!!!!
All celebrations are done in these 4 walls!!!

I was all HAPPY today and bought a nice heart balloon that said "Happy Valentine's Day" and clipped some homemade Peanut Brittel on the end and a nice card and took it to my friends work (we are both 52 years old) and I took it in and was just acting like I was a deliver person.  I said this is for "his name" and she said:  (Drum roll)

"Oh, how nice are you HIS MOTHER"   Stab stab to my heart.   ???  I just said "no just the delivery person"

If I had thought I should have politely asked for a pair of scissors and popped the stupid balloon and smashed his peanut brittle and said "Would his p*cking Mother do this"??  and left.  But I didn't!

My God I look 72!  I hate Valentine's Day!  The only good thing is it is my dear sister's birthday!  Otherwise I just hate it.    :banghead;

That's when you say, "Obviously I'm not his mother because I'd be teaching you some ****ing manners not to ask stupid questions."  Don't let this twit get you down.  I'm sad her stupidity ruined your day.

Over here, the strangeness continued.  I got a tube of the infamous toothpaste "made with gold".  And a case of bottled water.  And a gigantic plush pink dragon.  ??? It makes no sense.

Hubby surprise me with chocolates and a card in bed when I got home from dialysis at 3am.  I thought I was lying on his book when I laid down on the bed in the dark.  I saw it and smiled.

My friend Marilyn found WWE Valentine's cards.  She knows me well.
