I'm on dialysis 5.9 years...started slowing down on pee a year ago. Now in the morning about an 1/8th of a cup and sometimes a few drops at night. Makes me mad when I feel like I'm gonna have a great pea and only get a drop. Good point is we can do road trips with no pit stops  :clap;

Its happening less and less and its clearer and clearer.  Used to be three to five times daily, but now its more like once or twice.  Also, used to be amber, now its clear.  Since I'm retaining all the liquid I drink, I drink less.  This is to avoid having to loose too much during the dialysis.  The more I ask them to take off during dialysis, the greater the chance of ending up with a blood pressure crisis.  I had to be hospitalized once for that and don't relish ever doing it again.  Best wishes to everyone.

I've only been on PD since 12/06, and I had guesstimated that I was averaging about 300-500cc's three times a day...imagine my surprise when I collected 3300cc's of urine, and my KT/V was 7.46 !!Nope, no such luck! I asked about possibly stopping dialysis...response="it's working, and it's working well".  I was encouraged by the decrease in my bun and creatinine, and they haven't completely discounted the fact that I could be regaining function....transplant process due to start next month. I can't imagine what it will be like when I do stop urinating, I think I'm already mourning the possibility. Knowing that it can/could stop, I find that I do appreciate urinating alot more, and I've already begun the rough draft of "Ode to Pee", LMFAO!!

Yeah exactly! Mine was clear for the longest time and they told me that I was only peeing out water and nothing was actually being filtered! So I definately needed dialysis. I miss peeing because I wasn't so heavy :(

Wow to be able to have that kind of KT/V!! Mine today was 1.6 lol

Life's a bitch and then you go on dialysis!

« Reply #33 on: February 22, 2007, 05:16:56 AM »

I still pee as far as I can tell as much as I've always done as I don't have a fluid restriction. I've been on ccpd for six months now and they said at clinic that my output would start to reduce but touch wood it hasn't done yet. It's very pale and frothy so I suspect there's not much in it except protein. I've got PKD and apparently you can still pass fluids for quite a while.

When I can, I sweat more than I pee. I remember when sweating was a bad thing. :2thumbsup; Not now!

It is extreme, but desperate times call for drastic measures.  >:D

When I left the hospital at the end of January I was producing about 100cc's of urine/day.  But those numbers have consistently been increasing...yesterday I hit 1000cc's for the first time.
I'm hoping that this is a good sign and an indication that we are seeing improved kidney function?

The doctor told us that it's quality, not quantity. I don't think you can judge filtration ability by measuring volume.
