Remember the various professionals who had joined IHD?  People like "Nephrologista", et al?  Where have they all gone?  Why don't they ever stick around?

Thats a good question, MM?  Where is ReneePa?  Wasn't she a D. nurse or something?  Come to think of it, the last question I asked her about Needlephobic's situation, but don't know that she ever responded.  I will go back and check!

I wonder if half of them don't subconsciously think - intros to the contrary - that they're going to 'educate' us poor slobs, then bug the hell out when they see what they're dealing with!

Or maybe they see how patients REALLY feel about dialysis and decide they can't handle the truth.

nursewratchet has not posted since May of last year.  I enjoyed her input.  One of her last posts:
Hi all!!!  Long time no post, and I'm sorry.  My company blocked the site from my work computer, which is also my home laptop.

I'm always very interested in what other elements in the dialysis equation have to say.  I wonder if many nephs/renal professionals lurk here.  I'd like to think so.

None of the techs/nurses at my clinic had ever heard of this site before. My guess is that when they're off work, they're OFF work.

I mentioned this site to one of my center nurses a couple months ago. I told her how it has helped me. My next visit she told me that she and some other nurses looked at the site and said it was "eye-opening." She also said they had no idea sites like this existed. I'm sure they are still lurking. I do hope they would join the discussion. They're very good nurses.

BTW- At my last visit with my Nephrologist he had to give me a little lecture about how I needed to be very careful about what I read on the internet. So I guess I'll keep my mouth shut from now on.

For what it's worth, the intro packet I received when I started at my center listed this site on its helpful resources page.  So, at least the person that put the packet together thinks it's a good thing!   :)

It would be great, really great, if you guys would PM the ones that have not posted in a few months to just say "hi" and that we miss them.

It only takes a minute and maybe they would come back.

This really pisses me off. Not that it doesn't have ANY merit (some people really are naive) but they act as though NO patient can tell the difference between the National Institutes of Health website and 'Joe Blow's Kidney Korner'. My dialysis nurse gave me the same lecture. Mind you, this is a woman who self-admittedly can't even figure out email. I think it says more about their lack of ability to assess their patients' intelligence than anything else.

Oh no!  I'd bookmarked "Joe Blow's Kidney Korner"!  I should have been skeptical since he can't spell "phosferus".

Actually, I DID write to the President and got a nice reply in the form of one of those ubiquitous form letters.  To be fair, though, I didn't expect the President to have any answers; mainly, I just ranted. :rant; But it sure felt good.

Maybe they all saw our response to the idiotic renal social worker we shredded a while back and have been afraid to open their mouths since!

I got the same line when I first mentioned IHD at my clinic.  "You don't REALLY believe everything you read on line, do you?"  No, I'm not an idiot, thankyouverymuch.  I'm on here talking to other patients, not snake oil salesmen.

Although watching us as a group take down yet another creep offering a cure is always entertaining!   ;D
