Made green pea soup with bacon, smoked sausage en tomato. My own fusion concoction which is absolutely delicious, and it's atrocious outside, and my K+ is way too. The nurse is coming in a sec to bring my increased amount of Tinzaparine. I'm very impressed with their service this week

Apparently this bout of weather has stretched across the Atlantic from you and is now circling around and round us. They have had to bring in the Army to help out in worst flooded areas. It's crazy

I finally bought a dishwasher!!! And it is being installed today.
My wonderful partner has removed the cupboard and drawer to the left of the sink and drilled a hole for the pipes in readiness ... but there is just one problem!!!!
What do I do with all the stuff that was in the cupboard and drawer!!!! Now stacked on my kitchen table.
What sort of stuff you ask?
Dog food, cat food, dog brushes and shampoo,bird food, fat balls and a load of product instructions and guarantees!!!
And don't even get me started on the contents of the drawer!!!
It's my junk drawer. Every kitchen has a junk drawer. But where can i put the junk now???
I have 4 other drawers, one for teatowels and potholders, one for kitchen tools, one for cutlery and one for foil, clingfilm, plastic freezer bags and ecowaste brown bags....
I need a new kitchen

put the tea trowels in the linen closet and put the pot holders next to the cooker.  But if the linen closet is upstairs that would be an inconvenience so  you could throw out the stuff in the junk drawer, clean it up good, and put your tea towels in it.  However!!!  You will have a dishwasher, and not only does it wash the dishes but it dries them, too.  So you won't need the tea towels. 

If you don't want to eat standing up, all the stuff on your tables will have to be put somewhere.  I suggest that you pack your pots and pans tightly in the bottom cupboard and put the dog and cat food and the warranties and such stuff in there with the pots and pans. LOL.

Yesterday I accomplished more than I have in weeks, which only means more than nothing. I walked my younger son into his school (after Gwyn dropped me off at a friend's house in the neighbourhood, we didn't start off from home) First time I've done this since before the meningitis. I briefly talked to his teacher about catching him up on homework. Then Gwyn picked me up and we went to the doctor's appointment. He dropped me at home about 10:30 and in the afternoon I made lunch, did a sink full of dishes, started up a huge load of laundry, slept a fair bit, and in the evening we all went to watch Aidan compete in a speech contest with his debate team. They lost, but Aidan couldn't stop going on about how much fun the whole experience was. We always said he'd be a politician, he is quite the charmer, so perhaps this is just the start. Considering their instructors only suggested they enter this contest a few weeks ago and they only picked a topic early last week, I think they did magnificent work up there.

Side note: Their topic was whether modern music was a bad influence. Aidan asked for my help with his speech, so we had some wonderful discussions about the importance of freedom of art. I did something I never thought I would do - showed my eleven-year-old the video of a hologram of the late Tupac Shakur singing Hail Mary at Coachella 2012. (Check it out if you want: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGbrFmPBV0Y) Plenty of offense to be had there, from the harsh language to the frequent pop-up adverts to the $10million spent on this 5 minutes of entertainment! As we viewed it I think Aidan watched my face more than he watched the video. He seemed to be wondering "Are you sure this is OK, Mom?"

Today I am paying for that minimal bit of exertion from yesterday. Taking it easy now, but tomorrow I have non-stop activities from 10AM-10PM and Gwyn will be off in London on his own.

I had such a setback with my recovery today, for no reason that I could suss out, I hardly had the energy to get out of bed let alone accomplish anything. I managed the dishes and to empty the wet laundry into a basket to put by the door. (Our dryer currently resides in our garage and I couldn't even muster the energy to get there.)

We had to go to a parents evening tonight to hear how Dyl is doing and it turned a draggy, depressing, water-logged day positive. Dylan has two teachers and they both were raving about him. They said he is respected in class for working hard and having the intelligence to solve problems, but, and I quote "He's also a lad". They both agreed that you would never guess that he'd only been at the school since the beginning of the year, and amazingly they said he loves to joke around but knows when to stop. (Does he??!! This was news to his parents!) These are the types of compliments that are routinely paid to Aidan, but for years it's seemed like some crazy pipe dream to ever think we'd hear Dylan described in such glowing terms.

I hope you're feeling better soon, cariad.  I can only imagine how much you miss being able to haul wet laundry out to the garage.    (My dryer was down the steps and out to the shed. Ugh.)

Feeling pretty accomplished already and doubt I'll be good for much more today. Woke up and my husband was in a mood (Yay! Let the fun begin!) I felt a sore throat coming on last night, and it came on full force this morning. Made the tea, coffee and sandwiches and we were off. Gwyn needed to be nearly an hour away by 9AM which left me without a car in the freezing rain. He dropped the 3 of us outside Dyl's school at about 8:20 and they don't even open the doors at Dyl's school until 8:45. We walked halfway to Aidan's school, then much to Aidan's relief we turned around and walked back. I saw Dyl off and then trudged through the rain back home. It's only about a mile, but the cold and damp certainly didn't help my energy levels.

On the way back I saw someone throw what looked like a pen out her car window. As I got close enough to see it lying in the middle of the road, I could see it wasn't a pen. It was a home pregnancy test. Whatever it said, I guess it was the wrong result. Life is filled with these weird moments.

This won't sound like much, but it's the most I've managed since the year began:

Dropped Dyl off, Aidan bikes to school these days. Dropped by the tea room where I'm working now to get a copy of the menu to study. Arrived back home, suited up, armed myself with chemicals and attacked the tip that our bathroom has become. Got all but the walls/floors clean. Did some washing of delicates in the newly cleaned sink. Stripped all the beds and washed and dried the sheets. Emailed the owner of the tea room, went to Aidan's school for some sort of fair they were holding where they made items out of recycled material and then sold them to earn money for charity. Wow! I thought I was scared at Mbare. (The largest open market in Africa, and an experience we feel lucky to have survived.) Children were wandering the room, shoving their wares at unsuspecting parents such as myself, using whatever emotional weaponry they had at their disposal. I am not sure how I avoided buying anything except Aidan's work, but my Aussie friend was certainly not as strong nor determined as I was. She walked in with £2.50 and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they got her to write a check.

I escaped somehow, ran into Aidan's form tutor and said I needed a word about his marks for the past term. Something isn't right there, we'll discuss later in the week. Collected Dyl, brought him home for an hour, put some laundry away, and dropped him at choir practice. No idea what we should do for dinner but I haven't felt dizzy nor nauseous all day so I think that's a victory!

Sounds like a perfect way to spend your lucky winnings! And a burst of energy to go with it, even better.

I cleaned around the house and reported to work for three hours. Very slow day, but I think I've got the hang of the coffee machine. Hopefully I'll be fully proficient before the warm weather and rush of tourists hits our town.

We bought a Tassimo coffee pod machine in John Lewis's sale and it took me more than a month to work out how to
get a cup of coffee out of it!!!!
