I had that stupid ultrasound done today.  It started snowing while I was in there, so I just came home again and took a shower to get all the ultrasound crud off.  I was thinking of going out and making a little snowman on the doorstep, but Mom says it's raining now and all the snow is gone

I've spent most of the day in bed with a book - and it was even a trashy romance novel.  Ahhhhhh.  That was exactly what I planned to accomplish all day.  I have started some laundry finally, but that's hardly much of an effort when the laundry room is 3 steps from the bed.

I'll be ambitious tomorrow.  Maybe!

Today was quite an accomplishment...

After teaching all day (with kids getting revved up for the holidays) we went to town. The bank had called to say that after their merger with another bank, our business account had an identical number as another account and we would need to get the account changed..... They had the papers all ready and all we needed to do was go in during banking hours and sign them. Sooooo......

When we got there, the papers had been filled out incorrectly so we had to wait fro them to be corrected. BUT, we were given one of those nice bank gifts for opening a new account! 

After that, Carl dropped me off at the mall to pick up a gift that I had read was on sale. Then we went to the liquor store for a couple of bottles of wine for more gifts. A stop at target was next, where we bought gifts for the students at school. The grocery store was our last stop. Oh, I love having my grocery list in my iPhone. Each week I just put a check next to the items I need. I rarely forget to buy what I need any more!

At home I had some homemade chicken soup ready to be reheated for dinner. It was a good thing, because I was TIRED!

Now all my holiday shopping is complete. I only need to finish making a teddy bear for one granddaughter and hemming the costume my daughter wore as Clara in the Nutcracker many years ago. That goes to the other granddaughter (old make-up stains and all).

By this time next Friday we will have completed our 15 hour drive to Massachusetts where darling granddaughters will be asleep in their beds eagerly dreaming of seeing us when they awake in the morning!

Oh, Aleta, what a satisfying list of accomplishments that was!

Last night while collecting the boys from the after-school program I received a last-minute offer for two friends to take the kids to see our local team play a soccer match. I thought my friend A had said that they only had 6 tickets, and that if my kids wanted to go she would stay home and let her husband take all 5 kids. (!!!!!) Well, she asked me in front of the boys, so there was little I could do other than say that would be great (and it was such a nice offer, but my 5-year-old can be so baffling if you are not familiar with his various quirks and I was so stressed at the idea that I would not be there to sort things out if he had a meltdown).

Well, then she invited me to go with them for a quick bite first. I was really tired, but was so happy at the invitation since 1. I did not want them paying for dinner for the boys and 2. I could help them handle Liot. So, went to dinner and they start saying that I could go to the game as well. Turns out they had 12 tickets, not six. I decided that I could not relax knowing that Liot was at the game, so accepted. They offered to follow me to my place so I could drop the car and they could use their pass to get free parking. We went to the game. Loud, kids everywhere, chaotic, but our team won. Afterward all the kids wanted autographs. I should have known that things had been just a little too easy all night. Liot did not even know what an autograph was, but when he did not get one from the first player he started crying in the most heartbreaking way. So, oh my amazing little Aidan grabbed his program and said 'I'll get him one' and that kid pulled it off. I hand the program back to Liot and he asked me what it said. I tried to read the name and he starts sobbing again. Then he did not stop weeping and pouting until we got home. He refused to tell me what was wrong, so I sat him on the naughty step, he waited his five minutes, and then I sat next to him and we talked. It turns out he thought that an autograph meant that the player would write his name, as in somehow magically know Liot's full name and write it across the program. Aidan and I did a quick role play with him, and he hated that and did not want to do it but he eventually agreed. This was a first. In the end, he was smiley again and all was well.

Today I did loads more reading for the paper, we grabbed food at the co-op, I made a quick dinner for them of mac n' cheese with some crumbled hamburger and frozen peas. I let them eat upstairs while watching television. Then I read Liot a story, did laundry and dishes, and am going to read one more journal article before bed. Swim lessons tomorrow.

Your whirl-wind life simply amazes me! I won't say that I don't know how you do it, because when people say that to me I start to doubt myself.

 

I've had a most lovely weekend. Got some work done on the teddy bear I'm making for Wren. And of course loads of the ever-present laundry. But last night we went to a wonderful Solstice party. The highlight of the evening was looking at Saturn and four of its moons through a telescope! WOW!

Today, was a very interesting lecture on Paul's role in the rise of Christianity, followed by lunch with friends. Now on to more sewing.

Today, I finally wrapped Christmas gifts. It's done. Yay! It wasn't without its challenges though. 2 of my 3 kitties thought the wrapping paper was the coolest stuff they'd ever seen, so I patiently waited for them to get off my paper. I also took pictures because sometimes seeing is believing! lol

We took the boys last night on a Santa train ride. It's a real train and Santa talks to every single child on the train, the ride lasts for about an hour and a half. My oldest grandson, (20 months) said Santa for the first time ever! It was so awesome to see and he was so engrossed in the train ride, it made me so sad that my husband couldn't be there. My daughter kept saying he was there in spirit, however, sometimes that just doesn't cut it.....needless to say I couldn't sleep well after that.

Pre-Christmas cleaning and I did lots of baking.  I'm almost done

We went to visit my grandparents for Christmas.  We always do this the weekend before the ferries stop running.  They're finished for the winter on Tuesday.  When we set out this morning, it was cold, but the sun was shining, so we figured it was be a great day for the crossing.  It seemed uneventful, a little rough in the middle, but it usually is once the cold starts to set in.  However, as we were waiting to step off the ferry and into Nova Scotia, we could see out the door, and it was snowing to beat the band.  The whole day, all it did was snow.  From what I could tell (I was talking to a few people on Twitter), all of Nova Scotia was clear, except for Pictou County, which looked like a regular winter blizzard.  We visited with my grandparents, and 2 of my dad's sisters, and picked up a couple presents for Bro's kids.  We took it slow all the way back to the ferry terminal, as it was still snowing, and got on the ferry.  An hour and 15 minutes later, we were back on Prince Edward Island, and there was still the small dusting on the ground that we'd had when we left this morning.

Grades back today.  My clinic course is only graded as A,B,C or fail.  I got an A in that one - but most people do.  (Hard to screw up showing up and trying to help people.)  My Advanced Litigation course was points based.  I got 589 out of 585 points.  Gotta love extra credit!  100.6 %.  I was hoping to beat my other high grade on my transcript - I got 101% in my first course, Paralegal 101, but I supposed a measly 100.6 will have to do....

Oh! jbeany! What's with the slacking? (*kidding*) Congrats on the most excellent marks.

I have finished my major, hand-it-in-on-time-or-get-a-zero paper. I have all the citations done, just need to spend another hour or two editing, possibly collecting a last citation here and there, then get it to him by 9:30AM. I am so exhausted. I went to bed last night at around 1AM because I was starting to feel ill, but just could not sleep for worrying over this paper. I don't think I fell asleep until gone 3AM. Up at 7AM to make my tea. Worked all day on the paper, collected A from basketball and L from after school. One trip to the naughty step later and we were all OK again. Dinner, they've been watching telly, talking to Dad as I type, and are about to head off to the land of nod.

I haven't done anything yet today, but my O&M instructor is coming by later.  I'm hoping to persuade him to stay inside today, instead of going out into the frigid wind

I had a bit of a set-back with my shoulder yesterday...

 

That made physical therapy kind of a stretch (pun intended!) 

And with the pain, I didn't sleep well last night, but only two more days of school.... and them I'm "free" for a couple of weeks.

Dragged myself out of bed too, that being the most important accomplishment of the day.  Did better once I was up and moving and had chugged a couple glasses of water.  I've been sick lately from medication side effects, and it's leaving me dehydrated.  Made a batch of Christmas Cracker Toffee - AKA Christmas Crack.  Packed up, taught my last craft class of the year at Gilda's Club, and just got home and unloaded.  Need to start baking now.  I need to make a second batch of Christmas Crack - the first went amazingly fast during the class and the dinner that followed.

I have only one more day of school before the holidays, but many progress reports to complete.

Today after school we drove to town because one of the teachers said that she couldn't have poinsettias in her house.....OOPS! We had bought poinsettias to give (along with a bonus). Bought her some raspberry chocolates, which I KNOW she loves.

After dinner I finished the teddy bear and started wrapping gifts. Whew. I'm pooped.....

Had a fantstic Christmas bar-b-q lunch at the D centre to-day. Steak, sausages, many kinds of salads and some ripper Indian desserts that the boss' mum made. Had a good yarn with some of the gang and had a moments silence in memory of the ten who didn't make from last Christmas.

Today I crossed more of my TO DO list for Christmas Day - have most of my cooking done, beds made, house clean, decorations up. I am so organised for once: must be the new kidney. Thinking of my donor's family's first Christmas without them too

Yesterday I took Blokey for a really long walk.  He didn't know it was going to be a really long walk until we were a really long way into it!  Ha ha. 

Today he was wise to this and so our walk was shorter.  Whilst in town I found a lovely top and a fun game to play on Boxing Day when the nephews are round.  It came to a whopping £4 ($6).  Thank you, Charity Shop!

Aleta, look at you, Ms. Arts and Crafts! What an extraordinary gift to give! I'd be lucky if I could make a convincing stuffed amoeba.

Soooo close to freedom. Finished my final paper for Public Health, just have to grab pizzas that I promised to bring around 4PM, and sit through nearly 3 hours of classmate presentations. Tomorrow will be all about prepping for Christmas, buying last-minute gifts and supplies, wrapping and mostly cleaning. Approximately 36 more hours until I see Gwyn.

Mom and I got word yesterday that there was a low income apartment in town with our name on it.  Mom and I went by the building today, just to see where it was.  It's centrally located, walking distance to EVERYTHING.  I seriously can't wait to move in.  As long as everything is approved, and we'll know that by the end of the week, we'll be able to move in February 1st

I have always dreamed of spending Christmas "down under"! Christmas is my favourite holiday & Summer is my favourite season. How awesome would that be to combine the two!
